No working GPS or signal, and I had only booked this place on Expedia prior to my trip, since everything in Forks was fully booked. But let me just say... I ended up LOVING it! The cabin was spotless, cozy, and had everything I could possibly need... Fireplace, WiFi, kitchenette, fridge, TV... you name it! I especially loved all the windows that let in tons of natural light, and the porch out front was such a nice touch. The staff at the office were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even offered me an upgrade for just $15, which I really appreciated. The location itself was absolutely stunning... Surrounded by mountains and overlooking a beautiful lake, it felt like the perfect escape. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this cabin is it. I was not disappointed in the slightest and honestly can't wait to come back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! Washington is truly a beautiful state and staying here just solidified my opinion.

Rain Forest Resort Village has fireplace cabins and suites, Village Inn rooms and a RV Campground. They gave me a room with a balcony that had a gorgeous view of Lake Quinault. I enjoyed waking up to the sunset over the lake. The room was nice and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Next to the front desk at Rain Forest Resort Village is a small general store that has pretty much anything you may need. There is also a gift shop and laundromat. The staff here is great and very welcoming. They pointed out a couple of hiking trails for me to do that were nearby. I was able to do the Quinault Rain Forest hike and the short hike to the World's Largest Spruce Tree near the lake. Lake Quinault and the Salmon House Restaurant are across the street from Rain Forest Resort Village. The downtown area of Quinault is just a short drive away. Merriman Falls isn't too far away either if you want to check that out. Overall, my stay here was wonderful and relaxing. You can't beat the gorgeous views of Lake Quinault from your room.

You can walk along local trails right from the campground, and you can walk over to the Visitor Center, museum, and lodge. The sites are spacious, with picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms were large and clean and included showers. The location of your site is important here. Some are along the lake shore, while others are right along the roads in camp. We had a "walk in" campsite, which was a decent walk away from the main part of camp. It also intersected with another trail, so sometimes random people were walking around lost. Stay here if you can get a waterfront site and choose carefully!

I have camped at Falls Creek Campground twice in the last two years. My family (two adults and one…read morechild) had site 15 both times and camped with a tent. The campground is on the lake, and several of the sites are right next to the water. Several of the sites are next to the creek. The campground is clean and well kept. After staying one night at site 15 which I was able to reserve online, we decided to stay a few extra nights by claiming one of the walk in sites. There are 10 walk in sites located across the creek from the main campground. We stayed at site 30, which was near the end of the trail close to the lake. It's not possible to reserve the walk in sites online ahead of time. They are first come first serve and must be registered by going to the front desk at the lodge which is a short walk from the campground. You can reserve these sites on the day you arrive only. You can reserve them for multiple days in a row once you arrive. In the busy summer months, the walk in sites may be hard to get since so many people want them. The front desk people advised me to arrive in the morning if I wanted to get one because they go fast. There is a small parking area for the walk in sites, which may not have enough spaces for all the cars belonging to the walk in campers so once you get a spot you may not want to leave it. There was no camp host on site this year. There was a sign indicating that the camp host was at Willaby Campground (a short drive down the road). I brought my own firewood with me, but there were signs that firewood and ice were available for purchase (either at Willaby, the lodge, or the Mercantile... I can't remember where it was). If there was an issue, I can see how it may have been a problem having no camp host on site, but luckily there were no issues for us. Overall, I think it's a great place for camping and I will return. The lake is great for swimming. The Lake Quinault Lodge is a few minutes walk on a path along the lake, where there is a raft for jumping off, boat rentals (kayaks, canoes, rowboats), plastic adriondack chairs, and ice cream treats for sale. Inside the lodge there is a gift shop and restaurant. There are no showers at the campground, but if you go to the lodge, you can get access to the showers at their indoor pool for a fee. There is a great store across the street from the lodge called the Quinault Mercantile that has all aorts of supplies, groceries, and food made order including stuff like sandwiches, burgers, and pizza (slow but really good). There are also a lot of hiking trails in the area. We went on a short hike on the Loop trail which was a nice walk through the rain forest. Also worth doing in the area: Go see the World's Largest Spruce Tree. Take the loop drive around the lake. Drive about 30 mins to get to the ocean.

I got a little emotional as I recalled them being so small, and cut to now, how fast time flew. Their memories of this place were so fond. We checked off a bucket list item though- we told ourselves that the next time we come back, we'd have a bonfire on the beach and that's exactly what we did! We stayed out until 11 at night on the beach and it was pretty dark! Core memories made. We will definitely return and it won't be in 10 years, more like 2. We love you, Kalaloch!!!

Kalaloch Lodge is also located right by the beach and has rooms and cabins available. Kalaloch Beach is a great place for tidepooling and bird watching. I enjoyed a short stay here. I was able to walk on the beach and take in some fresh air after being in the car all day. Nearby is the Tree of Life spruce tree if you want to check that out. Two showers were unavailable supposedly because of vandalism, but shouldn't they be fixed and open? The women's washroom had no soap for at least two days and the men's was running out of TP when we left. The shower could definitely use updating since you couldn't aim the shower head and the room should have been cleaned more often. The tent campsites across from us were tiny compared to other campgrounds. You have to park your car in the space allowed leaving not enough of room for a large tent, but most of the tent campers were couples with smaller tents. We rented the two yurts for 4 nights. The site for each yurt is quite large since it looked like the site formally was for 2 tent sites. They have a single outlet and a heater. The mattress pads were a joke and thankfully we brought a blow up mattress just in case. The yurt was much smaller than the cabins at other Washington State campgrounds so we had to organize kitchen utensils, etc. on the floor. The yurts have a bunkbed, twin on top and full lower. Our yurt had no ladder to get to the top, but our daughter's family's did have a ladder. (They didn't have blow up mattresses and I don't know how they managed to sleep. Our daughter did say she had bruises because the mattress sunk to the boards underneath.) Would we go back? Well, if it's just my wife and I, then we'd find a nice rental (and admittedly pay a lot more).
