Not only was "Chris" rude to me when I called asking about a shipment and email that I never received he sent me the following: "Below is the email on 10/23/2017 stating that your order was cancelled and it expired from lack of communication by you, "the customer." Both emails were sent to your email address as stated on your account. If you wanted the additional documentation requirements sent to you, you would have to respond" even when I have evidence I never received them as he sent them to the wrong account! BUYER BEWARE! Think twice before shopping for your wines with Wilkinson. We have bought 100's of bottles of wines from online sellers, shipped to Michigan or Florida, all twelve months of the year. In over ten years, one bad bottle and we received immediate credit for the entire order. Then we find Wilkinson and order 6 bottles of one of our favorite wines--Chappellet Chardonnay. ALL 6 WERE BAD...not 1, not 2 but all six...bad corks, bad color and very bad wine...all 6! It is either "our fault" for ordering "out of season" (temperature damage) or the "shipper screwed up"! It took two days to ship a premium high end California Chardonnay from 48 degree Virginia to 80 degree Florida, and all six bottles turned to garbage? And with them it's the customer's fault. Before you push the "purchase" button, best have your attorney by your side. This was bad stuff when shipped to us by Wilkinson. It get's worse. Ugly, long threatening emails from the company. Nasty. Purchasing wine can be a daunting task - but when you find a specialty spot like Wilkinson Wine Cellar you stick with them. I've been buying wine through their site since 2008. Their selection of wines is tremendous, I have an easier time finding unique or rare wines on their website than I do walking through a brick and mortar store. Their website also allows for a concise background of the wines so you can actually do some researching while you're looking. Finally you just aren't going to match their prices. Before everyone was buying everything through Amazon, WWC was up and making it easy and affordable to buy wine online and have it shipped directly to you. My reply from Wilkinson...basically no concern for the customer, Ive never seen so many excuses or disclaimers the stipulations are ridiculous, this is their response: We have sold over 25 cases of this wine, all from the same delivery order from our distributor, all transported in the same climate controlled manner from the winery, then stored in our climate controlled distributors warehouse, and then stored in our state-of-the-art wine storage facility. There is no chance that the wine that you have from us was stored incorrectly. Also, it doesn't make sense to provide replacement bottles because they come from the exact same conditions. We guarantee the condition of the wine as it is in our warehouse and against serious damage, however we do not guarantee customer satisfaction - there are simply too many variables in the consumption of wine. Great wine (Chateau Paveil de Luze 2007) at a very good price. The wine was shipped promptly, arrived promptly, and was well-packaged. I had never purchased wine either on-line or from this establishment before. Mr. Wilkinson was extremely prompt at answering my emails. Bottom line: Terrific vendor. I will preface this negative review by stating that it is, in part, my fault. NONETHELESS- I ordered what I thought to be Seghesio Old Vine Zinfandel. What arrived was not "old vine". I looked at the website and saw that the photo of the bottle was old vine. I called and left a message that was returned in a timely manner. I identified myself and was replied to with, "yes." Nothing congenial - far from it. Explained that I thought I was given the wrong order. I was ADMONISHED that it was the description and not the photo that was of importance. I will say that this is true. However, I think the practice is clearly deceptive. No apology for a mis-understanding. No, "well you will know for next time." There will be no next time. I admit this was my error. But with all the choices for online wine purchases, why would I ever call someone who does not know the meaning of "customer service". READ CAREFULLY. read more
