5-Star Review for Denys at Viva Appliance Repair…read more I had an amazing experience with Denys from Viva Appliance Repair and can't recommend him highly enough. I called him out to diagnose my old GE refrigerator in the garage, which I hoped to repurpose as a wine fridge instead of buying a new $250+ wine fridge. Denys squeezed me in after his last appointment and arrived around 7 PM. Not only did he show up late in the day, but he stayed until about 9:30 PM, running tests and methodically narrowing down the issue. He identified that the problem came down to one of two components: either the master circuit board or the power relay on that board. He clearly explained my options: 1. Buy a new master board (about $350) and he could install it (for additional fee) -- and even noted I could return it within 30 days if it didn't fix the problem. 2. Replace just the power relay on the existing board, which he could also do for a lower cost. He also considered whether the relay that drives the pump could be the culprit, but advised we should first test the relay on the master board because replacing the pump would be too expensive and not worthwhile. If the pump turned out to be the issue, he transparently recommended disposing of the fridge. Denys even suggested contacting GE for the exact relay. GE unfortunately sold me the wrong $7 part (the pump relay), but after more digging, I eventually identified the correct relay myself through the master circuit board markings and ordered it from a distributor for $10. While waiting for the part, I bought an $18 soldering kit and watched a few tutorials. When the relay arrived, I swapped it out in about 30 minutes, reinstalled the board, plugged the fridge back in and... it worked! All in, I spent around $100: * cost for Denys' diagnostic visit * $10 for the correct relay * $18 for a soldering kit For $100 total, my fridge is back to life -- far less than buying a new $250 - $350 wine fridge. Denys was knowledgeable, patient, honest, and extremely thorough. He didn't rush, didn't upsell, and gave me several practical paths to repair the fridge without unnecessary spending. His input was invaluable in helping me solve the problem correctly. Bottom line: I'm incredibly happy I chose Denys from Viva Appliance Repair. If you want someone who genuinely cares about solving the problem and giving you the best value, he's your guy. Highly recommended!
