They use the cheapest parts and charge like it's OEM. They have no pride in their work. They would live for you never to call them after you have issues. All they want is your money. Very poor experience here I would say . The communication was so bad and lacking of that we started to think they were driving our car around for fun or something . Like days would go by of nothing after they previously told us it would be done in a day or 2, it went on for a while and my car was in the shop for like over a month. Another thing, when we brought my car In, for a starter issue , they then say that my timing belt is bad and that they want to replace that and quoted me like $600. Well the thing is is that I got my timing belt replaced with the same people like nine months ago and a timing belt last for a long, long time much longer than one year . so I told them my timing belt was fixed here so that shouldn't be broken this early, Would you guys switch it out at no cost ?and they say yeah it's in our warranty for two years so we will switch that out , but and then when they try to find proof of me getting a timing belt, they said that they had no history of my car being there which flat out pissed me off because I remember talking to Will the exact same guy 11 months ago or so and magically he doesn't remember me or my car I get that they have a lot of cars but it totally seemed like they just didn't wanna find proof of me being there so they had to charge me again for the timing belt. so then I pulled up credit card receipt of me paying them for the timing belt , and I sent it to them , magically , then they said oh we found you guys in our system. Sorry about that ! Seemed super sus , in the end my car seemed fixed and everything was fine but the way that it literally took like a month and a half to get my car back was insane. They never said sorry or anything and they would say oh it'll be done next weekend next week I would come if we wanna get a phone call. Avoid Wilhelm Automotive if you value professionalism and respect. My experience here was nothing short of frustrating and insulting. I brought my vehicle in for diagnostics and paid $135 for what turned out to be a quick check. Their solution? Replace the battery for $300, even though it worked fine the night before. When I declined their overpriced service and said I'd replace the battery myself, the mechanic became visibly irritated and kept going on about "Economics 101," as if charging outrageous prices and being condescending were part of some grand lesson. They they became rude about requesting the veteran discount. It didn't stop there despite me being nothing but nice to them. When I returned to replace the battery myself, they refused to reset a simple warning light, smugly claiming that I hadn't "paid them enough" for the service. Keep in mind, the diagnostic they charged $135 for took less than an hour. This shop's attitude is appalling. Their priority isn't solving problems but milking customers for every cent. This is nowhere near the place that many of us remember getting our cars serviced at over the last me personally 10+ years. I will be looking for a new place to take my vehicles too, and I suggest you do the same. Such amazing customer service! I stopped in right at closing time with low tire pressure. After sweating in the hot sun at Circle K for 15 minutes trying to do it myself, I came to Wilhelm right as they were shutting down shop. Ernie and Tyler were happy to help me! Not only did they fix the low tire, they made sure the rest were good for me as well. They didn't charge me for their time and they were still friendly and nice to chat with even though I arrived as they were closing. To start, I brought my car in a month ago to fix my air conditioning. I paid the diagnostic fee and they concluded there was some valve leaks, I paid for them to be replaced and for a flush and fill of the Freon. Now my air conditioning is going out again, so I call for an appointment to drop my car off to get it looked at, while on the phone I confirm that I will not be charged another diagnostic fee which they say is correct. What I am told is if it's leaking again all I will have to pay for is fixing the parts, perfect. Well I go to bring the car in for my appointment and right away the guy behind the counter tells me that they don't have my appointment, immediately saying maybe I called the wrong location. Well I confirm the phone number with Google maps I did not call the wrong spot. He then goes on to tell me I will need to pay a $205 diagnostic fee now to find the problem they didn't fix the first time?? This fee is even MORE than the first time even though I was told on the phone I wouldn't be charged this. DONT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY. I brought out 2014 Honda Civic Ex in for an oil change. We have been to this location before and have taken this car to one in the Chandler area as open on Sundays to get my sons car fixed. I dropped off the car at 7:30 for the appointment and I called at 10 to see status. Of course there were other things needed and I said I will look at things later. Finally at 10:30 get a call to get the car. Why does it take thee hours for an oil change. Other suggested items to address: Air and Cabin Filter: Total for all would be $86.47. I can get both filters at Autozone for about $30 and install myself. Actually ordered on Amazon for $15.00 total Not sure what all season for $112.00 is. Alignment and Reset steering sensor: $137.94. I took car to Airpark Auto and got alignment done for $98.70 and they said noting needed to be done with the wheel itself. Cooling System Flush: $167.95 (This is flush, then Antifreeze, Gold, Coolant flush kit and disposal fees) Now, I had this done about a year ago in Chandler at another Wilhelm Auto place, so why that didn't show is beyond me. Transmission Flush and Fuel Injector Service: $334.96 We have used Wilhelm as it was close to the house. I took back to Airpark as I have used them a long time as rest of family and I know they will not give a BS. Are they the cheapest, no, but honest yes. In less than ONE hour the steering was aligned. I got a text message with the bill and to come get it. I called t ask about the other things mentioned my Wilhelm and they said, no all your levels are good and nothing else needed to be done. Said brakes are good but will need some work eventually. I have to get new tires due to alignment at Costco and and will get the car aligned again next week, no addl cost. Not sure why these other services were for and if really needed when another place said no. I will NOT be taking my car(s) back to Wilhelm because it just seems like a money grab to me. read more

Went over some bad reviews before coming here, saw they liked to upcharge and demand repairs that really didn't need to be done. Figured to try it anyways since a checkup is free and the shop proved every single bad review right. They handed me a bill for 5k, took the car to Discount Tire and they balanced the wheel that was wobbling and it was good to go. Was not charged for that service. Would never take my vehicle here for repairs, a complete joke to the people they scam into paying just by taking pictures and making things up on the fly. I took it to brake masters and they said I only needed brake shoes, and my rotors were completely fine, and ended up only paying $400. Do not take your car here unless you want to be screwed over!!! I've been going to Wilhelm for probably 5+ years and everything was great. As the granddaughter of a former mechanic, I take the quality of auto maintenance to the fullest. However, my last experience was lackluster to say the least. I went in for an oil change and asked them to check my tires, do a rotation if necessary. When I came back to pick up the truck they didn't say anything about rotating the tires or that I needed new ones, just that they were dry rotting (which I already knew). Keep in mind this was a free oil change based upon a coupon they sent me from the previous visit. When I got home I realized they had not placed the wheel lock back in my passenger's door frame, where it always stays. When I called, I spoke with Eric and he told me they did not rotate the tires because they were so bad, and the tech forgot to put the tool back, that he would give me another tool since it was their fault. I went in and Eric was out that day, after telling me he would be there, so Chris came out and looked in my doors (like I needed him to do that), and said he didn't see anything. Again, I already realized this, and he told me I'll need to come back when Eric is there since I talked with him. Needless to say, I went back a few days later and Eric was there. He walked over to the other building to see what he had, and as he approached he asked if he could look in the passenger's door (again, here we are), and I'm not sure if he placed one of the tools in the door, but one would assume at this point, and he turned and looked at me and said, 'Oh, you mean this one?', and stormed off without saying another word. I drove away but called back to let him know my disdain for such rude behavior, and he informed me that he just didn't have time. So, I don't have the time to waste in going back there ever again, and I've made it a point to share the story with family and friends for awareness. Additionally, they neglected to refill the wiper fluid, which has never happened in the past. I'm wondering if they even did an oil change at this point. Just seems like they're going downhill and I hope for others' sake they get it together. read more

Had a battery die in the Costco parking lot today and Costco was unhelpful except to sell us a battery and tools. Generally automotive inept, we changed the battery ourselves with another customer's help in the parking lot. In the process, we dropped a nut to the frame that secures the battery. We drove gingerly to Wilhelm, which has serviced all our vehicles for the past seven years. Mike came out, checked things over, retrieved the missing nut, and secured the battery. He even took our old battery. He asked nothing for the service. Yet another reason we only go to Wilhelm's for all our automotive needs. came in with check engine light for 02 sensor. i had already put a new one in so I knew there may be a bad wire to the ecu or the ecu itself was bad. they charged me $485 to put 2 ground wires in and said that would fix it, it did not, then they recommended replacing the ecu and quoted me $2,000. I ended up leaving $500 lighter and still a check engine light on. i asked for a discount because they didn't even fix my issue I came in with and the guy said "I'm giving you a good deal at $99.99 for 4 hours of labor" I went down the road to sun devil auto and they were able to find a rat chewed the wire right before the ecu and raplaced it all for A LOT LESS THAN A $2,000 ecu. had I trusted Willhelm advisors again, I'd be out $2,000. on top of that, my car was not put back together right and parts were loose under the engine bay. do not trust Willhelm, their mechanics and advisors are not skilled enough to solve your problems, they will take your money and give you the run around. read more

Needed a wheel alignment and 2 front tires. Tire replacement was fine, but wheel alignment left my steering wheel skewed off center to one side. Very annoying to keep the wheel at an angle to have the car go straight! Brought it back for them to adjust. Not sure if they did anything. The wheel is still skewed. Their response was "We did the best we could. That's all we can do." WHA?? Not a good response. Anyone experienced in wheel alignment knows you make adjustments with the steering wheel locked in straight position, and then check it after you adjustments. If off, you simply readjust both sides of the adjustment (L&R) to get a good alignment with the steering wheel centered. They obviously did not know how to do this, or just didn't want to spend the time to correct the situation. I'll have to take it somewhere else to get it done correctly. Cannot recommend to anyone. read more

I am truly not sure if these guys are dishonest or just way overly cautious, but either way, be careful. I took my daughters car in for an oil leak and some brake noise. Their estimate was over $4,200. This broke down as $1100 for the oil leak, $2450 for new brakes and $400 for 2 new tires. The brakes were so high bc they said it needed new pads, rotors and calipers. She needed to go back to CA for school in a couple days and they couldn't promise they would be able to get the fix done for nearly a week. So I took the car home while waiting and put on new pads myself. While apart, I looked at the rotors and calipers - they were fine and have plenty of life on them. Pads cost me $80 instead of the $2450. In their defense, they would probably say they can't send someone back out on the road not knowing your brakes are 100%. So you be the judge. On the oil leak, I called the dealership and they were able to get me in same day. Also in defense of Wilhelm, the dealership diagnosed the exact same cause for the leak. However, they fixed it same day (not waiting a week for the part) AND they did it for $900 instead of $1100. On the tires, obvs a tire place can do it for cheaper and the guy at Wilhelm told me that too. So again, not sure if they were lying about the extent of the brake needs or just really over cautious but in any case, these guys were not the cheapest or fastest by a long shot. read more

I wrote review a while back and since then have sent them a letter alleging their misconduct. So far I haven't received a response; they pretty much just ignored me. Worse yet, they ignored their responsibility to actually fix the problems they caused. I caught them red-handed cheating me, and the parts they say they replaced actually are the original parts that came with the car, complete with the wear and tear. Simply put, they didn't do the work. That's not the kind of business I care do work with. This is not a sour grapes review; I simply take my business elsewhere. I brought my 05' Toyota Prius in Wilhelm Automotive on 04/20/2015 to have the Hybrid battery serviced. The Red exclamation was lit and I was sure it was probably a bad battery, but needed confirmation from someone that routinely worked with these vehicles to validate. My vehicle was serviced at the scheduled time and a service agent quickly called be back with the bad news to confirm my suspicions. Wilhelm Automotive would have been able to complete the work, but unfortunately the quoted price for a new hybrid battery was more than I was wanting to spend. With this being said however, the quoted price was in-line with what dealers would charge or any other mechanic for that matter. I don't feel I was being price gouged, but rather being charged a fair price. I would recommend Wilhelm Automotive to friends and family and will return for future service needs. read more

That's unacceptable to me when I can drive up to many places and get this type of service (basic oil change) performed after a 10 minute wait. New to the area I am looking to start building a relationship with a auto repair shop to handle any problems that may come up with any & all of my family's cars, however It doesn't look like that will be taking place in your shop. The customer care here is unbelievable! They changed my oil and rotated my tires in half the time they said it would take (great expectation management there), personally walked me through everything on the invoice, gave me a few things to keep an eye on and sent me on my way. The best part was they mail a handwritten thank you note after your service! I love that. They have got me as a loyal customer now.
