There were no signs that we saw indicating dogs weren't allowed, and since this isn't a sit down restaurant, we didn't think it would be an issue. When the employee first mentioned that dogs weren't allowed, I explained that he is a service dog in training. Instead of handling the situation with kindness or professionalism, another employee or owner (didn't introduce herself or say hello even) approached us in a very abrupt and unfriendly manner and essentially told us to leave. It wasn't the policy that upset us, it was the way we were treated. A simple, "Hi! I'm sorry, but we don't allow dogs inside," would have been completely understandable. Kindness costs nothing. The experience left both my daughter and me feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. So instead, we took our business elsewhere and enjoyed delicious ice cream at Buttonwood farm. Customer service matters. Compassion matters. We'll gladly support businesses that treat both people and their pets with courtesy and respect. These are the eyes of the sweet dog that was treated as though he didn't belong.
