The location is idyllic - on a nice lake with lovely nature trails, and lots of outdoor things going on. They have a nice biergarten and a little playground just as you pull in - very inviting! (in fact the Biergarten serves food too, but I did not try it - this time!) I ate 3 times in the restaurant and have nothing but perfect things to say. I had pork medallions (translates poorly from German I think), Münchner Schnitzel, and an onion/beef roast (again translates poorly). They were excellent - big portions, well seasoned, and tender. The pork was especially good. The side dishes made this from 4 star to 5 - the noodles, potatoes, and fresh accompaniments were just perfect - I wish I could find such noodles (like Spätzle) here int he USA - I would weigh 300 pounds! The indoor seating is great in winter (ate once in Feb), but the outdoor seating in Summer is yet another boost for this place - you can sit right on the little lake (pics to be posted) and have a nice dinner Service was good (for German standards lol), and the struedel was outstanding (post a pic). The food was a nouveau German styled cuisine, with classic favorites updated. I had the deer medallions in a rich gravy sauce and it was fantastic. The meat was tender and the Zweigelt I picked to drink with it was wonderful. The chocolate cake for dessert was a tad dry, but still hit the spot. Prices were a bit more than other places, but not outrageous. A delicious last meal in Germany before leaving for the US.

In this case, calf's liver and apples in the air, unfortunately not simmered enough, and mashed potatoes, excellent (€20.22). The liver a little too thin but generously served. Also unfortunately overcooked, Teutonic style. The grilled onions wrongly floured and not grilled enough. The Kaiserschmarn is to die for, the best ever tasted in Germany. The dough was probably enhanced with a little yeast to inflate this delicious dessert. Familiar and joking service. Pleasant beer garden and I will return in winter to discover the interior, and especially to visit this Foundation made up of a brewery, a distillery, a huge barrel-making workshop, a mansion, a stable, a baroque church, etc. whose history is part of southern Bavaria.

The food was all wonderful, including the beer and the desert! The outside garden was also REALLY beautiful. There were flowers everywhere and I'm from California so I just couldn't get over how lush and green the place seemed. There's a short trail down to the river (which I didn't get a chance to check out), but they also had a little play area for kids too which seemed nice. I would love to go back and spend a whole day here eating and drinking.
