The lengthy contract that you signed, it cannot be terminated by making it crystal clear that you decide to terminate it. I still recommend this place due to the stellar trainers (i gave my trainer a very positive review on thumbtack) and very friendly, supportive, vibe, just be aware that you will have to yell and fight to stop being robbed afterwards. PS: just scrolled down others' reviews on google and unsurprisingly im not alone. PH, you have good trainers and good equipment, please just drop this despicable behavior and you will become a perfect gym!

Because my joints were so mobile, I was experiencing a lot of pain in my hips, knees and ribcage. I knew I needed to build muscle to strengthen my joints, but I was overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. Fortunately, I started working regularly with Cameron, and with his help I have made great progress. He's very encouraging and I work out much harder with him than I would on my own. Also importantly, because of his training, I have peace of mind knowing that he'll make sure I use correct form and not accidentally injure myself. Before I started working with Cameron, my ribs, knees and hips hurt. At points I couldn't walk more than a mile. Now I'm thrilled to say that I'm pain free, getting stronger by the day and no longer have mobility problems. The gains I've made with Cameron's help have had a huge positive impact on my day to day and I'm so happy to be able to trust my body again and no longer be in pain. Are you feeling out of shape and overwhelmed and don't know where to start? Try working with Cameron, and you'll safely see results and be feeling better soon! Thanks Cameron!

I am NOT a fitness freak and often make excuses to be active, so it's saying a lot that I go out of my way to do this. Josh and Tim are amazing! My husband and I trained with them a few years ago after being totally sedentary. I had gained a ton of weight in med school and felt like a blob. Besides losing over thirty pounds in a year working out three to four times a week, I also gained muscle (but not in the unfeminine way that I was thinking I would), strength, and confidence. All I had to do was show up and do what they told me, which was a mix of strength training, flexibility, and cardio. Seriously, I went from not being able to do a 'real' push-up to being able to do over a hundred in a minute after about a year, which was super amazing for me. I like that both Josh and Tim will push you to your limits and give you a really good workout but won't yell at you, judge you, or make you feel bad about yourself. (I'm sure they can yell at you if you want them to, but that doesn't work for me). Their workouts are efficient, always changing, and challenging. They also teach you great form while doing different exercises (with or without equipment), and other trainers I've worked with after them have commented on my form and being taught well. Finally, they can also give you nutrition advice if you want it. Besides all this fitness stuff, they are also just great guys to hang out with and talk to, and you can tell that they are really passionate about their jobs. Do yourself a favor if you want to lose weight or get in shape and check them out for a few months. They have a fitness assessment when you start that can help you track your progress. You'll be amazed at what can happen over a few weeks!

Who wants to be physically vulnerable to someone you don't care for or trust? I've been training with Josh at Infinite Iron for a few years now, and a large part of that has to do with how he works with me: he's great! I'm not someone who responds particularly well to yelling--I want to do whatever it is set in front of me, but occasionally I need help with keeping count and remembering what's next. Josh is highly observant and picked up on that pretty quickly, with no yelling along the way. He's pretty easygoing to start. I've also had the chance to observe him work with many different kinds of people, old and young, and he modifies his style as necessary. If yelling's your thing, he can accommodate. He's also well-versed in nutrition and continuously modifies what we do. When I first started, I had different goals than I do now, and he takes that into account. We've done a variety of exercises using all sorts of things, and just when I think I've experienced it all, he comes up with something new. He's also motivating when it comes to accountability. Initially, I only planned to stay a few months to learn things and then continue on my own, but I realized training with him several mornings a week was a large part of the success of the rest of my day. Check him out! You'll be glad you did.

The decor looks a bit dated compared to say the newly constructed L.A fitness - but the facilities are quite comprehensive - I use the strength training facilities, my partner makes use of the included fitness classes, and my kids love the indoor play area and pool, and great outdoor pool / recreation area during the summer. Great place to host birthday parties too. Hard to find this combo anywhere else. I also find that Liberty being independently owned leads to better service than I experienced at L.A Fitness and Planet fitness - the people who work at Liberty have often times been around for years and seem to care more. If you are a solo adult, the extra cost might be harder to justify. But for our family, this is hands down the best fitness club in Ann Arbor.

In the last year they've been renovating quite a bit to update the spaces, equipment, etc, which has helped the overall vibe. They started by painting and reflooring the main workout room and are currently renovating and updating the indoor lap pool and hot tubs/saunas. The locker rooms are clean and the lockers are easy to use. The workout equipment is in great condition and even during their busiest times it's easy to get a treadmill or a bike. Plenty of TVs and things to keep you occupied with as well as you're huffing and puffing along. They have a few rooms for specialized classes--group fitness, spin and yoga. Now, I've only done the yoga classes so I can't comment on the others but the yoga classes I've attended were good (restorative yoga). I've always felt a million times better coming out than when I went in. There's a lot to do for families too. With a big kid's complex with a play area, rock climbing wall and indoor water park for fun during the winter months (also open in the summer). The outdoor complex is awesome and open Memorial to Labor Days. To be honest, this was the selling point for me. They have a few lap lanes for adult swimming (yes there are only two but I never had a problem getting a lap of my own this summer and I went several times a week) a bigger "play" area in that pool for the older kids/teens, and a splash/smaller pool for kids with a nice water slide. The outdoor cafe area has beverages, smoothies, frozen yogurt, and a few hot items for lunching. There's a small playground and even a few holes of mini golf in the complex as well. Plus outdoor tennis courts, of course. The club is big on tennis and they have a ton of courts inside as well. Plus classes, teams, and more. I feel like there's always a tennis club gathering when I'm there. There's a small indoor cafe as well with snacks, water, smoothies and such. They close around 7:30pm every day so it's more for lunch or a post-work pick me up before your workout. They have a small spa area upstairs with pedicures and massages. When you join you get a coupon for either or so I booked one and splurged on another. Great solitary environment. I had a beautiful pedicure and one of the best massages I've ever had. It's just a little pricey to do often, but if I could I would. It's definitely not a cheap membership, but I get a generous stipend from work for a fitness membership which covers most of the cost. If not for this I'm not sure I could swing it. But since I can, I try and make the most of my membership.

Forged is relatively small and has a simple set up, but it has everything you will ever need as a strength athlete. Olympic platforms, a full rack, powerlifting and oly bars, kettlebells, free weights, rowing machines, KG and LB plates, etc. They have daily workouts posted that you can do or you can do your own programming. They also have classes you can take including how to lift weights for beginners and a crossfit-type HIIT workout. My favorite part is this gym gives you 24/7 access so you can go at any time. They have a full bathroom with a shower. As someone who tends to lift weights later on at night, i know i can take my time and not rush through my workout to leave because the gym closes too early. If you're a super early riser, this gym will work for you too. I appreciate how friendly and welcoming the space is. I'm a queer woman and am often wary of perceived "bro culture" in gyms. This gym is woman-owned and operated, which means it's absolutely NOT a bro culture-friendly place or intimidating in the slightest. I've even brought my dog in a couple of times. This is a place for everyone - whether you're just starting out and want to learn how to lift or if you're a seasoned strength athlete who needs a spot to work out, you are welcome here. However, don't expect this to be priced similarly to Planet Fitness or a gym like PF. You get full programming and access to knowledgeable coaches during coached times so it's priced accordingly ($115 for a full membership). You get what you pay for and Forged is 100% worth the money.

Forged Barbell is the exception to the rule, and so much more!

He is extremely knowledgeable and well-credentialed in many facets of the industry, from strength and mobility training to injury prevention and rehabilitation to nutrition coaching, and more. Perhaps more importantly, he is constantly learning and growing to stay up-to-date on the latest scientific information, data, and best practices. As a trainer, Andrew listens to his clients' needs and tailors programs to fit what they want to accomplish and how to realistically achieve their goals within the context of the busy lives, schedules, and calendars that we all have. He is open to feedback, and actively seeks out information from his clients about their athletic/exercise background, injury history, nutritional and sleep habits, and other lifestyle factors that allow for a truly personalized program for each individual to reach their exercise goals and remain healthy, active individuals long past their athletic prime. As a person, Andrew is fun, easy going, and lighthearted. He creates an environment in his gym that is simultaneously motivating and appropriately intense, while never making you feel intimidated or judged -- making it seem as though anyone from a professional athlete to a first-time exerciser would feel equally comfortable in the space and in his presence. Whether you are seeking competitive or sport-specific training, injury rehabilitation, weight loss or strength gains, or simply want to stay healthy and mobile as you age, I could not recommend Andrew highly enough.
