They also sell produce grown on the farm, along with drinks and snacks you can enjoy while walking around the grounds. They offer upgraded experiences for an additional cost if you want something more hands‑on. We went on a bright, sunny day, and it was HOT -- definitely recommend sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and comfy walking shoes. I was in heaven here. They have goats, camels, pigs, horses, a zebra, and more. You can easily spend the whole day here -- come early to beat the heat and the crowds. The animals are so friendly, and the hour just flies by as you feed and spend time with the animals. The pigs love belly rubs and will come up to you for some snuggles! They don't like being picked up though, but if you stay still with a bucket of lettuce they won't leave you alone! :) We also got the VIP Mini Cows package and the owner, Wes, truly treated us like VIPs. We were lucky enough to be the only ones to spend time with the cows, and we got to feed them and lounge in the VIP area. The farm also doubles as an Airbnb with stargazing, and the suites are named after each of the cows! We were only here for a day, but are planning on coming back for the Airbnb and get the full farm and stargazing experience!

Today I just walked straight through and they were both out and active. The hippos were hilarious under the water swallowing the bubbles . The orangutans were funny. The baboon family with a red butt is really hilarious to watch. You could watch that for a long time. The skyFari was closed today, which was somewhat of a bummer but other than that, everything was fantastic. I didn't order any food because the prices are absolutely outrageous. I also really enjoy looking at the plants and reading about them and how they have adapted to the environment that they are from. The African plants are amazing at how they can store water in their trunks. I also got to see the lemurs with their cute little mask, faces and striped tails. I'm looking forward to attending in October, which is free kids at the zoo month so I can bring my grandchildren and enjoy the children's zoo.

It's basically a giant dirt-filled playground free-for-all where kids can just be kids, and I'm so here for it! We first came during Halloween last year, and it's easily one of the best pumpkin patch experiences in San Diego. I LOVE that you can buy admission with everything included instead of constantly buying individual activity tickets. It makes the day so much easier with kids, and for everything they offer, I think it's a great value. Just know: it's a FARM. Dirt road, dirt parking lot, dirt everywhere. Expect your kids to leave filthy and happy. The entrance can also be easy to pass the first time since there isn't much warning before the turn. They do have handicap parking right up front, which is a huge plus. There is SO much to do: endless slides and bikes, petting areas with the sweetest animals, goat feeding, chickens, tortoises, horses, cows and llamas, a hay maze, shaded jumping blob, tricycle course with tunnels, toddler area, corn pit, inflatables, water slides, sunflower fields and hayrides. And if your kid loves construction equipment, this place is HEAVEN. There are endless dump trucks, excavators and bulldozer toys, plus real equipment the kids can actually climb on. Even when it's busy, there's so much to do that it never feels like kids are fighting over one toy. They also have a little snack bar where you can buy food, drinks and refreshments, but I love that they allow you to bring your own food and drinks too. There are tons of shaded patio areas with tables, so you can pack a picnic, sit down and take a break before the kids run off for round two. Everyone working and volunteering here has always been incredibly friendly. One of the owners even drove our hayride and told us about all the animals, which made it feel even more special. We now look forward to their monthly themed events and make them one of the highlights of our month. We're already excited for Halloween and Christmas! Do not take this internship if given the chance. It's a bunch of slave work. Yes, the animals make it worth it, and it looks nice on a resume, but cmon just go volunteer at a shelter. I'll preface this by saying I'm a house rabbit owner. The old setup stressed me out with the bunnies running around being grabbed and picked up by everyone and poked and prodded by kids when they clearly were trying to hide. The new setup? I was happily surprised to hear the bunnies weren't out for the day due to the weather. They can suffer heatstroke and are sensitive to hot weather (mine are spoiled and live in 73-69° daily). So no bunnies out suffering the heat? That's so awesome! Thanks for caring RSR! I got to love on the Guinea pigs who had room to run, while someone would pick them up and place them in a bin beside me, tell me their name, approx age, and their fave veggie. I fell in love with Lola (I believe that's her name). She's a fiend for lettuce and gets the cutest green mouf. She begs for more and you can't deny her lil bug eyes. The Emu Angel has been there since I last visited (she's 38yrs old!). The goats and sheep are separated from the llamas and you can't step inside with them anymore (honestly this is probably best so kids don't get knocked out or have their clothes chewed). You can still feed and pet all of the animals! I can't complain about the price of admission or the price of feeding them. I personally know the cost of exotic vet care and it's not cheap, throw in the livestock vets and care and you're looking at a pretty penny. I guess a pro tip is to show up on a week day, somewhere around 2, and pace yourself. I spent over an hour there so it wasn't a blink and you miss it type of adventure for me.

If you are lucky, you may find free parking in the surrounding areas, but honestly, parking can be difficult, especially on busy days. What I like most about Balboa Park is that you don't need to visit all the museums to enjoy this place. You can simply walk around, enjoy the gardens, take pictures, and relax. One thing to keep in mind is that the park is very large. If you don't plan ahead, you may end up walking more than expected. But that is also what makes this place special , every visit gives you a chance to see something different.
