Sadly, most cruisers would rather eat their meals on the ship, as they've already paid for it; however as foodies, we would rather experience the local menu of the country we're in. White D'or didn't disappoint us. We walked all morning to Castle Coronet and old town, all along the esplanade and were so hungry. We saw this restaurant's menu on our walk to the Octopus for lunch. Got to the Octopus at 11:45 and they would not seat us for lunch, which began at Noon...only breakfast. (Boo!) Walked back to White D'or remembering their posted menu which we saw earlier. Definitely more to our liking. The restaurant is kind of a funky, with a cool living room vibe. You walk up a flight of stairs inside, and into a large open room with comfy sofa / chairs, wallpaper and thoughtful words with purpose / pictures. Decent music. Amazing, respectful and unobtrusive service! Genuine. I'm sorry I don't remember our server's name. She made recommendations when we told her we wanted to try local fare. The menu is tapas style. It's good advice to order two dishes per person, three or four per person if you're famished. We also tried the Guernsey local Cider (Rocquette - hope its spelled correctly). Never rushed, food came out as prepared. We had pita and a wild, tasty and different type of babaganush, Guernsey cheese burger sliders, mixed and spiced olives, fried cheese, sweet potato wrapped in phyllo with beet humus, and duck confit spring rolls with plum sauce. Price was super fair and we think a bargain. Great options for vegan and vegetarian too. Love this place and will definitely return if we're back on this wonderful island. - To the server / manager, we were the 2 Yankee blokes who told you we'd Yelp!
