Turkey bomb. Homemade fries. So good.
    Julia B.

For what this place is, and where it is, I am giving it a solid 5 stars. It is a true local hang, putting the home in home style. On our way from Portland to Montreal (two food meccas) we just wanted something simple and wholesome and delish and this hit all the right notes. I grew up in a more rural part of Maine in the 80's and didn't think places like this still existed. Turkey bomb was the bomb, as was the hot open face turkey plate. Home made fries and a ridiculously good coconut crème pie. No frills, all flavor. Even paper placemats with local advertisements and tall plastic red coke cups with ice water. This is the kind of place that if it popped up in Brooklyn with the intention of creating ironic nostalgia for a traditional, local establishment, it could never be as satisfying as the real deal of Wilderness in Colebrook. Hope we stop in again in the way home.

It's okay. The food is alright but nothing special. It's kind of small and creepy upon first entering, but the staff is friendly and they have a lot of options. I would recommend not getting the fries, though, as they are quite limp and soggy. You get a lot of food with your meal, though, which is nice! All of us were so full we couldn't finish and that's kind of a nice feeling.

Probably a 3 but I'll go 4 since they toasted the homemade hamburger bun and made the attempt to use real potatoes for French fries. The fries needed about 5 more minutes cooking time to have any crispness. They were limp and soft not crispy outside and soft inside like say 5guys. The burgers were big although the patties seemed a bit dry. Very casual nothing not remarkable restaurant.

    The coconut pie is superb

No one has reviewed breakfast yet! Great breakfast place, very reasonable prices. The omelettes were huge, homemade bread for toast and real maple syrup! Great staff and comfortable atmosphere. Good family place. Will be back!!

Selection specials are strange such as sloppy Joe's. Feels like a grade school menu. However, breakfast has been great!

The loaded steak and cheese with sweet potato fries is a mighty sandwich indeed. More than I could handle. You should give it a try.

In this week alone i have spend over $200 in food, beverages and merchandise from this location! Today, when we went in because they had the "buckets" where you could get either iced coffee or refreshers filled in them, we ordered 3 of them, and yes I may have a taken a bit long to decided what kind I wanted to get but I don't feel that, it was cause for the lady at the register to sit there and talk shit about us into her headset especially when we were still sitting there at the register. It was completely rude and not needed.. we spent $42.28 just on 3 beverages to be talked shit about and wait what I felt was a bit long, and then ALL the employees in that store, wouldn't look at us or speak to us because of whatever this lady had just said, they ignored my request for the managers name. Being that this Dunkins is the only location less than an hour away from us, we typically suck it up and go there when we want Dunkins, but I don't think that I will ever, and I mean EVER give them another penny of my money after the awful service we received today! I would not go there if you want you food and beverages made correctly and in a timely manner. or if you want to be treated how you should be while paying for someone to make your food and beverages!

It is as picturesque as you imagine, surrounded by beautiful mountains and even has a small park with a waterfall that looks straight out of a vacation video. One drawback is the cold weather. It legit snows here straight through May. The one thing that is NOT "cute" is the main road that runs right through the center of it. It is a highway frequent by 18 wheelers carrying goods across the country. Stephen King's sister lives here and I think this might be the road featured in pet Sematary. THE DEAL: if you love the mountains, Colebrook is your kind of town. Simply pick a place off the main highway for video-worthy views!

We stopped at a couple of places and everyone was super nice to us. The park offers a bathroom too. Summary: A nice quaint town near the border that has more to offer than you realize. Well worth the trip up. Even though we didn't see any Moose (Although we did meet someone who had photos of one).
