After 14+ hours on the road, all I wanted to do was check into my dreamy treehouse of an Airbnb, stuff my face, and go to bed. Beyond the requirement of some semblance of dinner, I also needed decongestant and lip balm, and while Wildberries' appearance veered more on the side of "natural" groceries, I crossed my fingers that they would have everything we needed. As we walked in, gorgeous plants and flowers greeted us: succulent gardens, prickly tillandsia arrangements, bright and colorful fresh bouquets, and more. Bistro tables line the windowed front of the store, and we were pleased to see a deli, salad bar, and hot food station, all of which was hoppin' with customers - good evidence that it had to at least be decent. I got a cup of tomato soup, a pint of "Asha's Lemon Cucumber Salad" (this was really exceptional), along with a container of curry and beet salad (I was really hungry, okay?!), my husband got ALL THE PASTA: pesto, spaghetti, and mac and cheese. There are napkins and utensils at the storefront, and all the food we ate was okay to great. Along the opposite wall, we spied cakes, cookies, and other treats, under signage for locally owned Ramone's Bakery. There was a menu for coffee and other drinks, and it was like a sweet mini café within the store. When exploring a new supermarket I MUST check out the chocolate selection, and being from out of town, was excited to discover numerous completely unfamiliar brands. I think I selected and returned about ten bars before settling on Lulu's Raw Love (sweetened with coconut sugar, lovely texture and nuanced flavor), and Wildberries' own Raspberry Chipotle Truffle (made for the store by a local chocolatier, and while the packaging is rather humble, this was so so yummy). If I ever return, I will definitely stock up on those Wildberries bars as they were so reasonable at around $3 each, with 15+ different flavors. Oh! And they had an adorable solid chocolate banana slug, which we couldn't say "no" to, and made an excellent souvenir for our neighbor's boys. In the end, Wildberries had everything we needed, and then some. They offer a good mix of natural and more conventional foods and products, with a strong emphasis on locally produced goods. The store is attractive and pleasant to shop. The variety of prepared foods was very convenient, and the addition of seating in the store is a nice touch. Prices were in line with similar grocery stores and employees were friendly. If I lived in the area this would likely be my go-to spot.

Outdoor plants are so happy here too

Delicious treats and snacks, great customer service, and all of the amazing beauty supplies I could ever need! I love Wildberries! On occasion, they have lovely plants which are at GREAT prices. I got my first monstera here as well as neon pothos! Some of the plants they have significantly overpriced elsewhere. If you're on the search for some plants and delicious treats, head over to Wildberries!

If you're used to visiting typical grocery stores, prepare for a bit of a shock when visiting the very non-typical Wildberries. This is essentially health food store with aisles of products that are neither familiar or mainstream and a clientele to match. It goes with the independent, health-oriented spirit of Arcata in general, so hats off to a locally-run business that knows what its customers want - especially when it seems like an inordinate amount of those customers have some obscure food allergy. I came here frequently back in my college days and decided to pay them another visit while in town. I used to love grabbing soup at the bar near the front. While I didn't see soup, it looks like they are still serving food there and they have a fantastic selection of sandwiches at the deli as well. In general, prices are higher and the aforementioned brand selection will mean getting creative if there are more mainstream brands you are looking for. It really comes down to just making the adjustment. If you want quality and want to support an independent, local business, Wildberries should be your first visit.

Super cool, local, organic grocery store! I came in while on vacation, looking for something to stock up the hotel room with some snacks for the week. I ended up with a big bag of trail mix and some jalapeño potato chips. I loved the selection of products. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be in here perusing the fresh fruits and veggies! #WildberriesMarketplace

What a fantastic store! Came in for 5 things, left with 35 things. And stopping at 35 took serious restraint when everything looks so good!

I found this restauraunt on Yelp and we reserved it for my birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the sunset and bay. Upon being seated we were served some bread with some whipped butter mixed with some sort of seafood I believed? I forgot, but the butter was delicious. Our first round of bread however, was average at best and was very dense and doughy. The next rounds of bread were significantly better though, so maybe there's an inconsistency with the way they bake their bread in-house. I ordered the seafood penne pasta and my boyfriend ordered the king salmon with risotto. Both were "specials" and were not on the menu. However after digging into reviews here, it seems they are not so much specials since both dishes have been served here for the past 7ish years. Seafood penne pasta: I would rate a 3/5, maybe a 2.5/5. The pasta itself was not al dente which was disappointing. The "star" of this dish was supposed to be the scallop, which was severely undercooked! It was super soft and mushy. The shrimp was alright...some were overcooked. The salmon was also dry. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the mussels, clams, and the sauce. The sauce had some curry with a small kick to it. This dish was just okay. Escargot: We ordered as our appetizer, I'd give it a 3.5/5! The escargot was a little soft but paired wonderfully with the bread. Creme brûlée: 3/5. Our waitress kindly put a birthday candle on it for my birthday. :) I enjoyed it, and it was very custardy! The downside was that the sugar on top was too burnt. I can't speak much for my boyfriend's dish, I did have a bite of his salmon and it was alright, maybe a bit too salty. The service however was wonderful and our waitress was super kind and helpful. Maybe I would come back to try another dish if I'm back in the area.

Since we have moved to Humboldt County, we have been here well over 30 times. I look forward to coming here, it is our go to place when we come down the hill. I have yet to have something bad here, and what I have had makes me salivate when I think about it, heck, I am getting hungry now. So if you want a place to eat in or near Arcata, CA. this is the place. In fact if you are on the 101 and you are between Crescent City and Garberville, you might just want to wait until you get to Arcata to eat.

Overall, the food was very good, it was packed well, and it came quickly. Unfortunately, the order came with no plastic silverware, no napkins, just the food. Did they not see that this was going to a motel? Fortunately, I had a plastic fork from another meal, and I just used TP for napkins. Please pay a little bit more attention to the details. I decided to go with the à la Mexicana omelette, which had spicy beef, cheese, salsa, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, olives, and green onions. Basically, a "taco omelette." it also came with jalapeños, but I put in the comments to please leave them out, and they did. To drink, I had a "Tutti Frutti", which was orange and cranberry juice, with Sprite. The omelette was very good. They were generous with all of the ingredients. I love a good "taco omelette", and this was right up there with others that I have had. The eggs were tender, the beef and the salsa had just a little bit of a spice, just enough that I knew it was there. I liked the sour cream And The lettuce and the diced tomato provided a nice "pop" of freshness. I loved the drink. The orange and the cranberry played very well together, and they didn't put in so much sprite that it watered down the rest of the flavors. The hashbrowns were OK, just generic restaurant hashbrowns, and I wish they would've given me a choice of the bread when I ordered. I would've mentioned it in the comments, but I didn't think about it. It was just your standard white toast. It was OK, but I would've preferred like a nice sourdough, or rye, or something like that. They have a lot of things on their menu, and I would definitely order from here again, either delivery or in person. Thank you.
