If I could Leave ZERO Stars I would. My Name is Dr Brown, Im part of a few organizations in which we have literally 1000'sof members. I personally purchase thousands of dollars of apparel ( jeans, clothes, shirts, suspenders, boots, etc) over the last 13 years or so, usually under 2 different addresses. I recently bought a pair of suspenders, the faux (fake) leather holding the suspenders is on backwards in 3 spots. I asked to return the item ( 2nd time they sent me the same item with backward stitching and leather) and the manager literally is so rude, she wouldn't take a breath to let me talk, talked over me at every 3 words, and said she refuses to allow me to switch them for a different item, claiming she didn't have the paperwork ( even though I gave her the order number and she pulled up all the info in her computer). RUDE, AND THAT IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE. Its a $19.99 dollar pair of suspenders, you're going to lose your customers over $19?? I have already removed your business from our registry on 3 platforms and for 2 different societies. I will never do business or shop with you again. Rude and Zero customer service. Trying to return a vest that was the incorrect size (my fault). Found customer service needs considerable improvement. They are confrontational and accusatory in their demeanor. Denying that information provided by the in their orders , composed by them. When confronted with the truth it was my fault that I didn't know what their new policies were, etc. I ran a small business for50 years and taught my employees that the customer is always correct. That philosophy does not permeate this company. If you purchase anything from them DO NOT REMOVE ANY ATTACHED TAGS!! That seams to prove that you used the product!. This incident involved the return of a vest for exchange (I ordered one size too small). I removed a tag, attached by the thin monofilament that has the T at each end, for fear of pulling it through the leather there by tearing it. This was "proof that I wore it " (which I didn't, other than try it on). My word was not acceptable ( way to follow the cowboy code). Sorry for the venting but I guess we live in a different world now, sad. They finally agreed to replace the item charging a 10% restocking fee. I feel lucky they gave me this consideration. To me a better solution would have to accepted the return and if they found sines of use then charge me the restocking fee or refuse to exchange the item charging shipping fees if I wanted it back. This store is the best! I was searching all over online for a certain Old West frock coat (the "Tombstone coat" by Frontier Classics) and Wild West Mercantile had my size in stock for a better price than I saw elsewhere (and besides most of those places didn't have my size in stock). I'm a retired non-tech-savvy person and the woman who answered the phone at Wild West Mercantile was super helpful and walked me through the online ordering process. Shipping was very reasonable and I got the coat much faster than I anticipated. When the coat arrived I was very impressed with the quality. The fabric has a quality soft feel that I wouldn't have expected at that price, and the tailoring/workmanship was perfect. Five stars! The coat is actually for a character I'll be doing (who was originally played by Jeff Daniels, who got an Emmy for the role) in case you're wondering about the strange outfit I'm wearing the Tombstone coat with. read more

I'm torn between a 3 star review and a four star review. I liked the service of the ladies. Very helpful and knew the store layout. The merchandise looks like it stands still. We didn't really find much amongst a lot of merchandise. In the end we bought from the leftover choices and walked out. If you need western wear and immediate? Then you might find something here but don't come with hopes of many choices but at minimum you'll get good service. read more

I was told about this place by the folks in the Arizona Steampunk Society. We made the long drive to Mesa to visit and I'm glad we did. They have a great selection of western goods, both old west and modern, and the prices are fair. The staff is very attentive. We had at least four people stop to see if we needed help. I walked in, and wow.. what a bunch of authentic western wear. I will say they have a great selection. I came here to find an outfit for wearing in S.A.S.S.competitions. I was having trouble finding a shirt to go with pants and a jacket.. and asked a short hair associate for some ideas... I got a blank stare.. and a very short.. look over there.. answer. So after I was still not finding something.. I asked a different associate, a little more input, but still no one came out from behind the counter to help. I left a $300.00 + potential purchase in the store because the staff was so unhelpful. Very Disappointing- I live so far away, it won't be convenient to try them out again. Went in looking for some SASS cowboy clothing and gear. A very nice lady from Arkansas helped me by the name of Liz (if I remember correctly). I have never felt so unwelcome in a store before. The first thing that was said to me when I entered was, "We are closing soon." That was it. No, "May I help you with anything," or, "How are you?" Just a snooty, hurry up and leave. My friends and I wandered around, we had never been in before (and will not be coming back), and once we got to the other side of the store, the woman at the front desk loudly called up another employee to follow us, as if she thought we were only there to steal something. I was offended at this point, and any purchases I thought of making, I put back. Needless to say, we won't be going back, I will not tell anyone about this store, and if it is ever brought up, I will tell people to avoid it. read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars. Never have I felt so unwelcome in a store before. I stopped in this place for the first time tonight about an hour before closing. I was not greeted, only glowered at by four young women. Reluctantly, I decided to browse the clothing and accessories for sale, most of which were low quality and over priced. When I stepped over to the second part of the store, one of the young women followed me and planted herself at the second register. I thought it was strange as she said nothing nor did she offer assistance. As there is only one entrance, I moved back to the first half of the store and the young woman left her post and headed back to the first register. Having noticed this strange behavior, I decided to experiment. I stepped back over to the second half once more only for the same girl to follow me right back over. Having proved that I was indeed being watched I decided my money was better spent elsewhere. I plan to reach out to the owners and explain the appalling behavior and treatment I was exposed to by their staff. However, apology or no, I will not be returning. Nothing in that store is even worth stealing. No one should be made to feel like a criminal. read more

Had the same experience as Candy, to a "T." Went in a little late without realizing they were closing soon with myself and a few friends. We are all adults, but we look young for our ages... I entered the store, and was then treated like I was a criminal. No welcome in, nothing. Just a quick, "We are closing soon," and someone followed me around after someone phoned another employee to keep an eye on us. If you purchase online, watch out for shipping costs. I just went through an experience with an exchange where the shipping charges ended up being more than what I paid for the product. I paid for the initial shipping (~$15 for a shirt), then paid $13.22 to send it back, then another $14.43 for the new item to be sent back to me. First of all, a shirt should not be that expensive to ship (they typically use UPS) and the store should offer lower cost options. Also, many items advertised are often "back ordered" so allow time for that as well. Sadly, after 5 years purchasing from Wild West, I'll have to look elsewhere for my old west wear. read more

In 2013 I spent over $900 in this store when we started SASS cowboy action shoots. I had one shirt that I had bought for my husband which ended up getting a hole in it the first time he wore it. I called to see if we could get it replaced. I was told they would not do it because he had not wore it within the first 30 days of receiving. (For people buying early beware to never pre-buy anything from this store unless you are ready to wear it right away.) I told the MANAGER I thought this was shitty to which she replied, "Well you are a shitty customer." After spending that kind of money in store all I could do was tell her she was a Can't Understand Normal Thinking. (Take all the capital letter to spell out what I said to her) Now whenever we go to events with SASS I make sure when clothing conversations come up I let them know about this conversation with the store. Creating a old west show in San Juan Capistrano. Wild West had all I needed and wanted. This style of clothing is not cheap, but, less expensive than others. Great customer service on the phone. Most items arrived in a timely manner and all was as advertised. All were "on line" orders and a I was a happy customer when all arrived. read more

The store when I entered I saw high-priced items with low quality wasn't graded at the front door as I walk to the second part of the store I was followed by an employee as if they thought it was gonna be stealing something they continually follow me back-and-forth and I even tested it and it is true this one girl was told to follow me to make sure I didn't steal anything absolutely unprofessional. This was extremely embarrassing and I was about to buy $165 hat and at that point I decided I will not spend any money and I will make it my duty to ensure that any of my family or friends did not visit that store ever read more

This place has got some really cool vintage western wear - I just wished the boot selection was better!!

They have some great merchandise but what brought me there was that they carry a good variety of traditional western clothing for living history and historic interpretation. Prices will reflect that... the good traditional stuff is not going to be cheap, but it is well made and of sound quality. -- I liked that I was not hounded by sales staff and could browse and fiddle with stuff until I found exactly what I wanted. read more

Buyer beware, they have cute things, but the customer service is lacking and the return policy is HORRIBLE. Should you chose to pay check or cash, you have to wait for a refund check from the corporate office. If you pay by credit or debit card, having the same card for a return is not sufficient, they have to take additional time to fill out a return form. This store is owned by Scully. I suggest you order online from them, at least they have free returns. read more
