My husband had chicken Parmesan which was fair. I had a baked onion soup and bruschetta. I would not order either again. The bruschetta was on toasted white sandwich bread and had so much garlic I could not eat it - and that has never happened to me before. I LOVE garlic. The soup raw onions simmering chicken broth - yuck. No flavor no depth. The bread in the soup was the same - white sandwich and gloopy. We won't go again. read more

Super quick service at this quaint little stopping post in Southern Alberta. Staff are young, friendly and look like they really like being here. It's Italian but we stopped for a quick bite on the way back to Edmonton so opted for the soup and sandwich deal. Our drinks - refreshing pomegranate lemonade (sweet sweet goodness) came within 30 seconds of ordering and our Sammie Soup combos came in about 2 minutes - wowza! Food was good. Perfect for that Alberta road trip! We finished off with an irresistible piece of homemade pecan pie. Warmed up. We resisted the option of ice cream as we had already visited the Nanton Candy shop :) The airy light pie crust was the perfect compliment to a sweet caramel covered toasted pecan pie filling. Topped with real whipped cream and a little splash of unicorn kisses, this pie was a perfect treat. read more

Seems like a lot of restaurants in nanton are closed on a Sunday. This was the first one we seen open and decided to give it a go. On the outside it claims fine Italian cuisine. What it should say is...a bunch of over priced random north American foods. No idea what the dinner menu is like but the lunch menu is quite sad. I had a roast beef sandwich with mustard and butter..I asked if the cheese was going to be real or processed...the server who spoke little English went to ask and said it was real..it wasn't..it was plastic processed garbage...it was served with half a handful of broken stale ripped chips. The wife had lasanga that didn't seem to contain any tomatoes, she seemed to like it as it reminded her of watered down chefboyardee so that's something. Stay clear..it may improve at dinner during the week but I would have rather eaten antiques than this food. Just a note..those 2 items with on coke came out to $26. worth 14 read more

An easy place to stop for good Italian food. We had the fettuccini Alfredo, spaghetti bolognese and sausage to start. Staff was extremely pleasant and even got our food out quickly as we had to get to our next destination!! Glad we stopped. read more

This was a pretty neat historic building. The owner was very informative about the area. It used to be an old trading post from stavely, great view of the mountains and old historical sites within walking distance. Theres homemade food prepared by the owner who was trained in Italy and Switzerland as a chef. Chicken parm and gnocchi were delicious and authentic. read more

We've been wanting to visit Nanton for awhile now so finally we made the commitment and found the time to do it. As usual I like to research the area for food places, coffee shops and in general things to do before we go. I read about this little Cafe and put it on my bookmark list. Since we noticed it right away off the main street we decided to go here for a late afternoon bite to eat. Suffice to say it was a disappointment from start to finish. It's a smallish place with maybe 11-12 tables (including outside)...really cute decor. When we arrived 6 of the tables were being used by customers. We were able to sit right down and view the menu...and wait...and wait...and wait for some service. We were at a table where I could see the counter/kitchen and the waitresses...chatting, bringing food out, more chatting, cleaning the counter...chatting....all the while 10+ minutes later we are still waiting for service and acknowledgement even though they saw us come in. Finally a waitress comes over (as my hubs is wanting to walk out the door since we have 2 small kids who are hungry) asking if we were ready to order. We said yes we've been waiting and we received a very snarky "we are busy, sorry". Wow who knew 6 customer tables out of 12 makes you too busy to help new customers who have just sat down ;). Moving on the place is not kid friendly. Several of the food items are way over priced....$15 for a Greek Salad (I LOL at this)....$9 for a sandwich that has no sides...just a sammy sitting on a plate. My kids had the choice of a $9 sandwich, $5 grilled cheese or a $5 hot dog. The menu is all over the board and not that appealing. Hubs ordered a Roast Beef sandwich to stay safe and get something quick so we could leave. It had maybe 2 slices of deli roast beef , 1 slice of processed cheese, the lettuce/tomato he requested and nothing special about the bread (he said it was blah). I followed suit and ordered something safe which was the small Cesar salad for $9 and it was over dressed and nothing special. Also noted when it arrived it was slammed down in front of me (hmmmm she says). In the end we were very disappointed in the service, the prices and the food. Everywhere else we went in Nanton was fantastic and as such we will be back to Nanton again soon, but alas never again to Wild Thyme. read more

Was there with few people couple of days ago, we simply needed a break from driving an wanted a bit to eat, first place we spoted, looked interesting, rustic and over all like a family restaurant. Ordered a latte (was probably the worst latte I ever had ) had the BBQ ribs ( if you are looking for boiled small rib with a few splashes of BBQ sauce on it, then you are in luck. Wow it was bad). There are old mags and books to read and relaxing atmosphere with lots of flies to boot. If you decide to eat here check the bread for mold. Best of luck. They did give me a small discount of the bill for moldy bread. read more

We stopped here on our way to Fernie, BC from Calgary and were glad we did. The food was good (I had the chicken sandwich that came with fries). The décor was cute and the people were very nice. The prices were a bit high but it was worth the premium over a fast food spot. read more

Flavors okay. Grilled cheese should be more than processed cheese. Onion soup needs authenticity. Step it up.

Overpriced garbage - it is insulting what you get for the money you pay. Worth the gas to keep on driving to go somewhere else.

Authentic Italian Food. The server was excellent. She had the kids spaghetti come out first, which I appreciate as a parent. The food was fresh and delicious. The owner/chef came out personally to see if we were happy with our meals. Server did not speak English. Serious communication problems. Coffee wasn't fresh and was horrible. My wife ordered the grill cheese "special". It was two slices of toasted white-bread with sorta melted processed cheese in between. Not good. I ordered the chili. Tasted like it was out of a can. Menu was also way, way overpriced. My friend is from Calgary and I am from Lethbridge so we decided to meet halfway for lunch. Our food came quickly and was OK, but not great. My friend had ribs and rice and had to ask for more BBQ sauce because it was so sparse. I had a decent burger but the fries were hard, unseasoned, and had an unpleasant texture. After eating we ordered coffee and sat to talk for a while. we were there for about 3 hours to catch up and had some pie to share. The pie was to die for! If you go here, order the pie! Together our bill came to about $40, so not cheep, especially for the lackluster meal we had, but the atmosphere was nice and the delicious pie helped to distract us from that number. The real shocker was when the server gave us our bill and told us that we were lucky that it was winter and they weren't that busy, because had it been summer they would have charged us rent for the table because of how long we were sitting there. Really?! Charging rent for sitting and talking in a cafe? i thought that was the point of cafes! Not to mention it WASN'T busy and we weren't taking a table from other potential customers, so why even bring it up? Even if it was busy I would like to think that my friend and i aren't so inconsiderate that we wouldn't have noticed. It was just a really rude comment.
