I have two hairdressers that I use and they are so chatty without being false. They actually take and interest in what you are saying. They ask you the next time 'how your ski holiday was?" "Or where you going to a wedding that your ex was at?" Pleasantly surprised that they remember such details. Your filled with coffee and the head massage at the massaging wash basin is a treat. The price includes 20% off all year except Xmas so it doesn't break the bank too much. I feel relaxed as I used to hate spending 3 hours chatting to false people who have no interest and feeling really awkward. Go people!

I find shorter haircuts more demanding than longer ones so I figured I'd take the risk. The hairdresser who did my hair was really nice and was quite receptive to my request for a restyle. She was not, however, gentle, and my scalp did feel slight the worse for wear after it. Her comments were hilarious though. I told her I was trying to grow my hair and she assured me that 'I'd be like a mermaid by the summer!' She sorted out my layers and all that. After a few days I washed and dried it myself and it hit home - my new haircut is 'the Rachel' That's right Yelpers, I'm trendy like its 1995!! Overall I think it was fine, but I think Peter Mark is still quite expensive for a haircut these days - 49 euros for a cut is steep.

The worst haircut experience I have ever received. complete and utter carelessness on behalf of…read morejenni here- a hairdresser who got distracted and carried away doing a complete restyle rather than a 2 inch, layered cut- cutting at least 5/6 in choppy uneven layers and then had the entire audacity to agree when questioned yes 2 inches but then pointed to a shoulder point and said that's were it was agreed - you would think any rational professional if they were given two sets of agreements would reconfirm before cutting a long bob to mid shoulder that was previously below the bust ? Also most skilled hairdressers would not treat the client as a child and point to a point on a arm / shoulder- most skilled professional hairdressers in my experience pull to the front? To be honest, I dont say this lightly or write reviews lightly but it was a complete lack of care, lack of professionalism and honestly lack of skill- will never return, will never recommend and will continue to honestly slate your salon every chance I get.

I said no, and agreed to just have a trim instead, which also wasn't great. I had to reinstate several times that i wanted it the same length all the way around. Rather than making it much longer in the front which was what she gave me. She did fix it in the end but it resulted in being a lot shorter than i had intended. I left really deflated and felt like i had wasted both time and money.

Whilst on the 1st floor off Baggot Street there was no street noises and the reception definitely has an air of calm and professionalism. It offers everything you'd expect of a salon from hand, feet, body treatments to waxing, make up, etc. They are renowned for their pedicures, so yes our Irish summer hasn't give us many reasons to get the saddles out but keeping your feet in good order with a little pamper feel to it, then pop along to Essentials... You won't be disappointed! Their pedicure stations are top notch, amazing comfortable seats which make sure that throughout your treatment, you are relaxed, at ease and amazingly comfortable throughout. There is no rushing once your treatment is over, so you can take your time ensuring your toes are perfectly dry. I've been coming here regularly for back massages and the therapist has been excellent. Elena really helped work out some knots in my back and by coming back, she's built on her work from the previous week which is really great and shows a great level of commitment and attention to their customers... She's been really friendly plus her knowledge, tips and tricks for exercises are all helping.

However, a few friends have raved about Essentials so I decided to give them a try last week. Their salon is very clean and the staff are professional. I was promptly greeted, taken to my chair, and asked to pick out a colour. The therapist quickly got to work and spent the next 45 minutes making sure my feet and toes were public ready. Unfortunately, while my toes looked lovely, it felt more like a clinical treatment rather than a spa treatment. The chair was just a chair, no back massagers to be found. And after my cuticles were cleaned up, I received a 45 second massage per foot, and that was it. For €55 I expected more.
