I bought their basic pole unit thinking it was so sturdy. It broke within 2 weeks and they refused to replace it. Buyer beware. They are also very pushy when you buy in store. You're better off ordering online. I do like their food choices. read more

We get a lot of enjoyment from the bird feeders in our yard. I have them placed in the yard outside of my kitchen windows where the view of them brings me a lot of joy as I go about my day. It's because of these feeders attracting so many types of birds that over the years I've learned the names of all our local types and a little something about their quirks and habits. I'm out there at the crack of dawn refilling the feeders including some ground feeders. I swear the birds have gotten to know me since they now come very close to me. I'm almost convinced that the black-capped chicadees (Massachusetts and Maine state birds) are going to eat out of my hands one of these days. This morning one was at a branch right next to my shoulder as I scooped out the seeds. With the thought of perhaps adding another bird feeder to the mix, we stopped in here yesterday. It's a small space in a unremarkable strip mall. When you walk in you will hear the pleasant sound of birds singing and chirping coming from a video tape loop playing on a monitor. The woman working in the store yesterday was pleasant and knowledgeable about the types of feeders they have. We were looking for some squirrel-proof feeders and she showed us a couple of interesting items that deter them. We scoped out the bird houses, suet block holders, some lovely bird baths and other accroutments for bird lovers. We decided to hold off adding anything new until early spring but I have some ideas about what I'd like to add. I did need bird seed which of course they sell. The prices were high for the seed in particular. After this I went to Home Depot where I bought twice as much of two different kinds of seeds for less than half the price. While I generally prefer to give my business to local stores as opposed to big-box, this price difference is too great. There are some wonderful items here coupled with the helpful sales assistance but overall the prices are on the high side. There are a number of things made in China, and while they may be practical and useful, the prices are such that I would not pay them. Nevertheless, for someone who might just be starting out wanting to set up home bird feeders, this would be a good place to start. It would also be a great place to find interesting gifts for bird loving friends. read more

Excellent selection and great staff! Everything from feeders to feed. I recently got some suet pellets, mealworms, bird seed, and a feeder to supplement the finch feeder sock and existing feeder I had. To the person who said the prices are higher. The feed your buying at Lowe's or Ace hardware is 80% Millet and milo which most of the birds around here don't eat. So you're paying more because the birds actually eat it, I went from filling my feeder 3 times a week with regular bird seed to once a week with the seed from Wild Birds Unlimited. read more

Wild Birds Unlimited is a wonderful experience for the bird watcher and bird caretaker. I consider my self a lover and caretaker of my little friends. I've been an avid birder for many years. WBU is n oasis for the bird lover. Having been a customer for at least 25 years my knowledge has vastly improved with the information I've gained from these experts. The previous owner Bob taught me a lot. The French folks have continued the professional service to an even higher degree. They have included new practices such as the "Club" , where the frequent customer can get discounts and perks. The inventory has been expanded to include many additional products for birds and various and special other items bird related. I'm only limited by my pocket book for the items I enjoy. I placed an order from them because the store in Maine website is not set up for orders. This website offers free shipping for orders of $75.00. It doesn't specify up to what region. Ordering to Maine they charge $12.99, but because my order was $236.00 $7.99 was discounted out of the shipping. My order arrived yesterday and we noticed that there is nothing to attach the hopper to the poles. Website doesn't indicate that a flange is needed in order to attach the hopper to the pole. I called the store and the woman who answered the phone just told me that she wasn't the one who created the website,. I thought they may want to correct that error and save someone else the trouble of having to call them. I had to order the flange, she was going to charge me $12.99 to ship it to me, at the end she decided to only charge me $7.99. First and last time I shop in that store. I live in Bridgewater, Ma. I have been buying bird seed from the WBU Hanover store. Shipping is super fast. I receive my food the next business day. You can't beat the quality of the food. I particularly like the no mess variety. We have a beautiful tree that over hangs are driveway but has fantastic views from our bay window. The absolute best place to watch the birds really close up. Unfortunately, when I was feeding them cheaper, lower quality food, I also had to head out every Saturday with my broom, dust pan and trash bags. There was a full shopping bag of debris every week. This is a popular breakfast spot. Since switching to the no mess variety, I have even more birds than before and no mess to clean up. It is 100% eaten by the birds. We love caring for our birds and we love that we are feeding them very high quality foods. Yes, most of the neighbors think I'm crazy. Out there everyday at 6:30 AM to feed the birds 365 days a year. The birds know me now. I whistle the same whistle to them every morning. They go crazy when they see and hear me. The Black Capped Chickadees will now eat out of my hand. Definitely my favorite bird. The smallest of the birds but the bravest for sure. Very curious little birds will come investigate while all the others hide in the wings! read more

I have been buying feeders and bird seed from this store for years. Sure I can go to the supermarket and buy seed at a lesser price but you are not going to get the same quality. This is also true for the feeders and everything else that they offer. Wild Birds Unlimited is a company that has become very successful over the years because of that quality. As an extension to the name brand, we have our own local store in Hanover which is owned by knowledgeable people that understand the concept of attracting birds to our yards. Thankfully, Pam & Steve were very helpful in suggesting some items for us to start out.
