However, those group exercise classes tipped the scale in YMCA's favor. They have group classes almost every hour from 5 am to 8ish pm! And they have my favorite class of all time, Body Pump! Those classes really get your muscles working. They also have aquatics classes (i.e. arobics), pilates, cycling, almost anything you can imagine. I don't have kids, but the amount of kid classes, activities, daycare, care while you are working out etc. is phenomenal. And it believe its like $12/month extra for them to take care of your kids for up to 2 hours while you are working out. That is nothing!! Amazing! Anyways, I am a huge YMCA fan, if you couldn't tell.

This is a great YMCA with lots of amenities! The pool area has several features -- a warm water…read morepool, lap pool, hot tub, kiddie pool, and big water slide. The slide isn't always staffed, but when it is, it's super fun... even as a grown up :-) They have a rock wall, track for walking/running, and offer fitness classes. My mom likes doing the circuit of machines up in the weight lifting area. There's lots of cardio equipment. I usually prefer the free weights and non-circuit resistance machines for my workouts, and I've found everything I needed at this YMCA. Staff and members are all friendly, and I've never felt uncomfortable working out here. Sometimes you end up weighting for weights or machines, especially during peak times, but that's pretty much how it goes at any gym. Membership is $50/month for one person, or I believe $80/month for two, so a bit of savings. Considering everything you have access to with a membership, it's honestly not a bad deal. I have paid as much or more for gyms with way fewer amenities, let alone for a yoga or pilates studio. Definitely a good option.

I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

The Discovery Center is located near many Boise favorites such as Julia Davis Park, the Boise River, Boise Rose Garden, and the Boise Zoo. We went for the first time yesterday. This place is great!! Our kids had a blast running around and…read moregoing up and down the big jungle gym area. We paid $10 for my 3 year old and $12 for our 8 year old, affordable for so much fun! And that's for all day not for 1-2 hours of play. They had a winter break camp going on, there was about 10 kids who were being watched by 3 adults who worked there, we thought that was a cool option for local families. They have drinks and snacks and we also really appreciated that! I asked for a Flat White and it was actually delicious! Bridget was the one working the front desk, drinks and snacks yesterday and she is really awesome! Very sweet with great people skills! The play area was also clean, they must wipe things down pretty good every day. The only cons are when you first walk in the first door for entry, the small walk through room smells heavily like chlorine with a hint of mildew, like you're about to walk into an indoor pool. Also, the bathrooms looked like a daycare bathroom, out of toilet paper, toilet paper on the ground and no towels to dry your hands. Im sure they have their hands very full during times they have camps where they are watching a lot of kids. Someone going in and checking the bathroom once an hour should fix that. And lastly, we forgot to bring water with us for our kids, they don't sell water bottles and they don't have filtered water. They do have 2 water fountains for the kids but I don't let my kids use water fountains. Next time we'll be sure to have our waters with us. Thank you Bodies In Motion, our kids had a great time!

The instructors are very good with keeping children focused on the activities. As a parent, I understand this is not an easy task to do for the children in the age range of 3-4 years old. All children in the class listen very well and participate in the activities for the entire 45 minutes! I am very pleased with the program here. As for the staff, I would say they are not as friendly as I expected. Maybe I'm too used to smiley and willing people in Boise? The staff there don't seem to engage in the conversation much, not to mention they lack a bit of friendliness. Regardless, I plan on keeping my kiddo in the program for a while. If anything changes, i will update the review.
