During a recent visit, an employee, in a moment of frustration, referred to him as "you brown people." This blatant act of racism is beyond unacceptable. When my husband understandably defended himself, the gym chose to suspend him for two weeks instead of addressing the inappropriate comment made by their staff. Even more troubling, the employee who made the comment didn't report the incident--someone else did--and the general manager has refused to return my calls to address this serious matter. It's shocking and disappointing that a place promoting health and inclusivity would condone this kind of behavior and ignore a valid complaint of discrimination. I expected better accountability and professionalism from Benny Hardouin and MVP. We both have enjoyed our memberships up to this point and made a lot of friends through the gym.Until this situation is resolved and appropriate action is taken, I will not be recommending this gym to anyone. This is a moment for MVP to take a stand against racism and demonstrate their commitment to fairness and respect. Do better.

I am somewhat sad about my membership no longer being honored by Priorty Health I have made many friends at the club. I am uncertain what I am going to do as far as staying. I wish they had a membership for seniors that would make the club more affordable I know they are offering a 47.00 for 6 mo than it goes up which would really put a strain on my income. hopefully at some point they can have a special senior rate. However I highly recommend MVP and if you have a family it's a must for the outdoor pool in the summer time. Like I said earlier I am very sad that this is coming to an end for me.

I used to go to MVP the majority of my middle school through high school years and I absolutely LOVED it. There were the obvious rules of no running, but overall, it was an amazing experience with amazing Life Guards that were fun and approachable. This is applying to both locations, crahen and sportsplex. It's been about 3 or 4 years since I was a member, and I rejoined because I had a son and wanted something fun for us to do. I am going to keep it for the rest of the summer for my son alone, but I don't think I will be coming back unless there are some changes in personality and/or rules. There are a few rules that I am regarding, but overall it's really just the delivery from the lifeguards that I find completely rude. There is the obvious rule of no running, which I'm not complaining about. I'm more so complaining about the way the lifeguards tell children. It's a very deep and stern "STOP RUNNING"... no please or anything. They will stand by their chairs and rudely scream over and over again. When I was a member in my teen years, there would be a whistle and a "no running, please" and it was nicely delivered and usually nicely taken. If it's a family friendly place, I would honestly expect a bit more kindness and overall manners. Now the rule I am going to complain about that I think everyone should be aware of: you cannot be more than like 5 feet away from your child if they are in the water, and that applies even if they are wearing LIFE GUARD APPROVED floaties. I understand it to a certain extent but it's the reasoning that I get told and hear explained multiple times that truly baffles me: "in case anything happens, you're going to be right there and we don't want anything to happen"... I beg my finest pardon, but what's the point of having life guards then??? Are they there just to yell at us and tell us to be closer to our kids and in some ways, parent? Not to mention, there are multiple signs posted all over the property that says "SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK", but that's clearly not the case. These situations have mostly occurred at the Sportsplex outdoor pool, but my mom has had a bad experience at the crahen baby pool but I can't speak to cause I wasn't present. It is clear, especially to parents so maybe that's where I'm getting a disconnect(?), which children are comfortable in the water and which ones are not. With that being said, the children that aren't comfortable in the water are already accompanied by a parent. I have seen multiple children today alone that have been pulled that were happily swimming and asked where their parents were. At this point, it seems that the lifeguards just don't want to do their jobs and when they do it, it's done poorly. I'm continuing my membership solely because my son enjoys pools and swimming, but would I ever recommend this place as an enjoyable family experience? Absolutely not.

Pros: the price, it is clean, always open, the price, new equipment, the price, plenty if different equipment options, so many treadmills, the price, the guy who walks you to your car after a 2am workout. I worked for 10 years in a health club. I know much of the work that goes into maintaining a facility like this. It is hard to keep a facility looking this bright and clean. I am a bit of a gym rat, I like to work out and will likely get to be on the receiving end of a lunk alarm yet. Still, I like the idea of making the gym free of "gymtimidation" and keeping it affordable so that everyone can have access to personal fitness. I have always said that teaching someone to care for their body will not happen if you have to teach them first to hate how it looks. Planet Fitness is a place for everyone to learn to be fit. The park is huge! There are at least two different parking lots for the park - one is close to the first disc golf hole, and one is not. Guess which one we picked, haha. We trekked over to the first hole and started our journey. I noticed one bathroom -not sure if there were more than one but the park is so big it could maybe use a second. The Garfield Park neighborhood association office is located in the park, and there's a nice free library outside it - The Black Book Exchange Box. I loved the diversity of the titles and authors inside (I did not take any books). Parts of the park looked a little "under construction" when we were there - they are redoing the splash pad but the playground is open. The tennis courts didn't have any nets up and they were overgrown with weeds. There are shuffleboard courts but they didn't look usable. The bathroom was pretty clean and stocked with toilet paper. There are picnic tables, benches, and picnic pavilions. It was nice to see people out enjoying this neighborhood park while we were there. Parts of the park are very close to neighbors' homes, so be sure to be aware of the park boundaries. I'd say half of the disc golf course was in the shade and the rest was in full sun, so bring sunscreen and water. There are a couple of holes that are very close to the street - a few discs actually went into the street and one all the way across the road! Be careful out there. Overall it was a nice way to spend a couple hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

They offer nearly…read moreeverything you can think of... from your standard games like volleyball or basketball to your less common activities like euchre and backyard games. You can come with a full team of your friends or sign up as a free agent and make some new ones! I think the best part of GRSSC is the competitive level. Some of the sports like flag football, broomball, and dodgeball can be a bit more intense than the others, but overall they are a great balance between justforfun/casual and compeitive/challenging (especially if you're a volleyball lover). The website is well organized, but the leagues themselves are really not. You'll do all of your own scorekeeping during the games, play referee, ball fetch, and even have to log your own scores into their website afterwards. The music in the background may or may not be up and running depending on the day, and the partner bars have no notable discounts. I think they're a teensy bit high priced.. if you're providing them with a whole team full worth of players you should get a bit of a discount. Overall I'd say that it's worth it... you'll have a blast, meet some great people, and stay active playing sports and activities you love.

I showed up on my first night of dodgeball, hesitant at how adult dodgeball would work, if there was going to be nothing but weirdos there, and if I'd get hit in the face with balls and break my nose, which would not be cool for my professional job. Good news - everything worked out just fine. A dodgeball game lasts about an hour and you play against different teams for the duration of the season. Dodgeball is played with nerf style balls, not old school rubber balls so that limits the chance of injury if you get hit in the face. My three friends ad I were placed on a team with totally normal, not weirdo people and I met tons of other young professionals during that first season. Since then, I've played on flag football teams, kickball teams and I think I subbed for a bowling league once. They rotate through different sports during the year so each session brings a new chance to meet people and try a different sport. GRSSC is heavy on the social aspect of things, so don't expect this to be filled with competitive, aggressive types- it's set up to be fun for everyone. There is an after bar for each sport/season that offers drink specials. Most people go to the bar afterwards and that's where you meet each other. That's where the good stories take place ;) Now, years later, people I've met through GRSSC have gotten married (to other people they met in GRSSC!) had kids (with GRSSC people), we've taken road trips and had birthday parties for each other, and the majority of us have stayed in touch through other events. I defiantly recommend joining if you are new to the area and want to get out or just looking to meet new friends.
