This is our second project with Wilcox Nursery and once again we are very pleased. Working closely with us, landscape architect Paul Meyers created a design for our back yard which turned the space into a mini-botanical garden. Using only native plants, he designed a lush and beautiful back yard for us to enjoy. We live on a barrier island and sadly our home was severely damaged by the flood caused by hurricane Helene. As soon as we were able to have our backyard fence rebuilt, we called Paul who came right out and created a new design for the renovation of our back and front yard. The plants were installed in a timely fashion, and we are very pleased with the results. Thanks to Paul Meyers for the designs, and to Gavin and Pablo for instillation of the irrigation system and the plants. Our initial design included custom made pavers and grow boxes which were designed and installed by Raul de la Garza; the pavers and grow boxes survived the flood caused by hurricane Helene. read more

We stopped by to see what sort of trees they might have. We weren't satisfied by what the "big box" stores had to offer. We didn't want another fruit tree. Wilcox had a pretty good selection of oaks, maples, magnolias and more. We decided on a couple of Red Maples in the 7 gallon containers size. We also wanted them delivered and planted which was available for an extra fee. Upon purchase, Wilcox contacted local authorities (811) to come out to my home to verify where the cable and water lines were. The lines were then marked and flagged, accordingly. We scheduled a time for them to come out to plant the trees. They arrived on time and finished the planting process in about 45 minutes. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Start to finish, the whole process took about a week and a half. Adam and everyone that we dealt with at Wilcox was friendly and very knowledgeable about local trees and vegetation. I can definitely recommend them if you want to buy local plants and trees. read more

Love this nursery for its native plant selection. It's not huge but they do have alot of variety. Their store sells seeds and soil and things needed to make it grow! They also have an herb and small veggie starts selection for now in fall. Wish they had more veggie starts but hopefully they'll take this feedback. So the magic question about if I'd go back would be definitely yes. Especially if you're looking to improve your florida native landscaping or make small eco friendly improvements. Wilcox Nursery and Landscape My first time there while visiting and helping my son with a house. I was there to purchase 30 bales of pine straw. So they loaded truck with straw. When I got home and started laying the straw! It was worst pine straw I have ever put down. Full of sticks,debris and MOLD! The color was dirty brown no red in it whatsoever ever! Trash pine straw is what I call it because it had obviously been there for a very very long time! I had to leave the next day, so they're really wasn't anything I could do about it at that point! note to self... pass on straw that's been loaded first in a semi!!! read more

What happened to Wilcox nursery? Grumpy Old Men! Over the last 5 years I have bought many plants to create a more native and sustainable environment in my garden. All of these plants have been purchased from Wilcox nursery. When I first started purchasing plants there there were many knowledgeable and helpful staff who would help me select the right plants for the right place in the garden. Not only were the staff interested in selling plants to create a more natural environment but they seemed to care about me as a customer. More recently, I have been to Wilcox to purchase plants to be confronted by grumpy men who are not willing to even acknowledge me as a customer. They won't even get off their butt's when people walk into the store. And they are not willing to provide any advice or helpful support. It's sad to see businesses being like this to their customers. I will be going somewhere else from now on. read more

It is coming up on three years after we hired Wilcox and their contractors to design and install a major architectural/landscaping project at our home in old Northeast St. Petersburg. The plant selection and design was so bad that over the past two years we have removed or relocated the vast majority of the plants that were recommended and installed. Quite frankly, the only plant/design ideas that have proven to be good, were the ones my wife and I insisted on. As such, our yard is starting to look quite lovely now and we have had dozens of people asking whether we used a landscaping company. I tell them we originally hired Wilcox then detail the reasons why they should go elsewhere. Given the large amount of money we spent on this project we expected more. I have been here previously. Although it isn't exclusively Florida native plants, it has one of the best selections of natives in the area. Last time I bought six Sand Pines and some flowering plants, and they have all done well. I don't expect them to have the more uncommon plants all the time, but they seem to be able to get them in regularly. This trip they had Florida Yews. The staff was very courteous There are a lot of good nurseries around with a larger overall selection of common landscape plants, but the quality and selection of Florida native plants at Wilcox sets them apart! read more

Complete Transformation! That describes the dramatic difference in my yard after the design and landscaping prepared by Wilcox Nursery and Landscape was completed. The landscape plantings, hardscape, and pathways work together to present an exterior environment that appears to have been here since my cottage was constructed. By that I mean that it is comprised of native plantings with pine needle mulch, crushed shell pathways, and a ribbon driveway - very similar to what would have been used in 1925. Found the nursery to be well stocked with hard to find natives. Staff was very helpful.

I went in there looking for a hibiscus trees that can grow 10 to 15 feet high I ordered probably 25 of them. They came over planted them in the ground not only did they do a crappy job of planting them they sold me bushes out of the 25 plants that I requested to purchase seven of them are bushes not even 6 feet high what a dope move on their part I would never shop there again read more

He incorporated my desire for Florida native, deer and disease resistant plants with existing elements to come up with a plan. His suggestions were spot on, taking into account things that had escaped my notice. I also appreciated the one stop shopping to bring in irrigation and paver experts to support the design. I have been trying to work on my butterfly garden, but as a novice I had some failures and I wasn't attracting as many butterflies/ species as I had hoped. I had shopped at lowes/ home depot but they only stock a couple of butterfly host plants. I really wanted a passion vine (host to Gulf Fritillary, Zebra Longwing). The places I had gone, like I said, never stocked these. I called Wilcox and was so excited when the employee gave me detailed info about the species, sizes, and price of what they had available. My boyfriend and I drove over and Louie immediately asked us if we needed help. Wow, if you are interested in starting a butterfly garden, this is the guy to talk to! He has so much knowledge and promptly pointed out multiple plants, telling us all of the details about the butterflies they attract! After helping us another nice woman asked if we needed help. Everyone was so friendly! I left feeling extremely confident in how to care for my new plants.
