They referred us to Nitro heating, Richard contacted me later that afternoon and scheduled us for first thing Tuesday morning. 8 AM and Richard and Darren are there ready to go to work. They diagnosed the problem and worked with the warranty company to have the entire furnace replaced. They were back today (Thursday) with the new unit and installed it before 3 PM. They were communicative throughout the process and explained the everything they were doing. Their workmanship is excellent and the cleanup was exceptional, I actually cannot tell any work was even done from looking at the HVAC system and surrounding areas. I hired Nordic in May of 2026 after getting some quotes for a total HVAC system replacement. There…read morewere some minor communication issues throughout the installation of the new HVAC system. I had also accepted the quote for installing some extra ductwork, but they discovered that they would not be able to do that during the installation of the HVAC system. When they discovered that they couldn't complete that, we discussed having an attic fan installed. After the heat pump was installed, I had some correspondence with Sean with questions about the attic fan, and eventually he just stopped responding to my texts. And emails. And phone calls. I haven't gotten a phone call back from Nordic despite being told a couple times now that I would receive a call back. I reached out via email and although I have received an apology and an assurance that someone would be out to fix the drywall hole created when they were determining whether they could install ductwork as well as install the attic fan, I was never given a date or a time. I tried to call and got their voicemail, but then received an automated text message offering to continue the conversation via text, which I accepted. I sent all of my concerns over, and received another apology and assurances that I would hear back from them, I never did. I had accepted the quote because of the promise that I would receive a rebate for installing a heat pump. Between the more sustainable option and the competitive price point offered, it was the best choice. When I reached out by email to offer one last chance for this company to make it right, the response I received did not include any information about the rebate. When I sent the text, I was told I would receive information about the rebate, but I still haven't heard back. And I haven't received the rebate. I'm just so alarmed by the communication issues. The installation of the HVAC system overall was fine and it works great. But the fact that I can't get an answer about the rebate that they supposedly filed for me, along with no straight answers regarding the attic fan installation and the drywall repair, is concerning. I'm just absolutely baffled and extremely frustrated. I have genuinely tried to be patient and work with them, but I can't keep waiting and I want to issue this warning to others in case this is a pattern. If you need strong, consistent communication from the company that you're working with to get your HVAC needs met, this is not the company for you. Or maybe you'll have better luck. Also, maybe beware of talk about rebates.

Always knowledgable, professional, helpful, fair -- I can't say enough about SH&A. They had…read morereplaced our HVAC system last summer, and now in Summer, the A/C was not working. So we replaced the thermostat, (which they had kindly advised us to do last Spring but we kept putting it off), but still the A/C wasn't working. Called them, they arrived on time, asked me questions and thoroughly checked everything out. It turns out the HVAC system is doing great -- but they found an indoor leak (*not* caused by the HVAC system) that is getting water on the water-detector "puck" next to the furnace. That puck -- which SH&A put there for me last summer -- is doing it's job by shutting all HVAC things down / alerting me that something is wrong. They restarted the system, advised me on what to ask for when I talk with the contractors (to fix the leak) and showed me photos of the problem. I need to add that John and his colleague both spent time checking out the indoor and outdoor parts of the system. They didn't charge me anything -- likely because of a warranty period from the HVAC install. Honestly, I'm so thankful for a company that doesn't try to upsell me, or use fear tactics to make me buy something extra or take advantage of my lack of knowledge (though I'm learning as I go). SH&A keep it professional -- they focus on the problem and not how to up their profits for the day. They are the gold standard of everything HVAC. If I had a Christmas card list, I would put them on it.

Do not use this company. Kurt Guardian from Guardian Heating & Ac ("With the Guardian Guarantee")…read moresold me a mini-split system. It had issues from the beginning. He was unreliable for service calls, sometimes taking 3 weeks to respond. He finally bowed out and referred the calls to the technician Chris Stibbs (who originally installed the system). Once again, I encountered delays of up to three weeks for service. Finally, the unit failed to operate. Turns out it was a lemon and required replacement, but because of all the delays in service, it was past the full warranty replacement service. I had to pay $1500 to have a new compressor unit delivered and then the cost of installation by Chris Stibbs. That was February 2023, this is now June and once again I have a problem. I have been calling both Chris Stibbs and Kurt Guardian for 6 weeks--both have ghosted me. Alpine Air technical support tells me that they think the installation by Chris Stibbs was wired backwards. I now have to hire another service company to try to fix/resolve the problems.

With that positive start, Kurt was very courteous (had booties for shoes before I even told him I prefer no shoes in house), patient with all my questions and expedient with his written proposal with no attempt to up-sale. Of 2 other companies, one never showed after changing appt time twice in one day (because of urgent issues elsewhere) and other company called to ask address since they were lost, was condescending, rushed me during inspection, questioned what type of research I had done since I was asking specific questions, then proceeded to overbid while offering to "give" me free vent and furnace cleaning. Not only did Kurt clean the furnace, but also repaired an electrical disconnect I had with my fireplace at no additional charge. Kurt stated in advance that I should plan for about 4-5 hours for the install. He called morning of appt to say he would be at my place on time (just another courtesy call), arrived on time and completed work well within the allotted time. He and James were willing to answer any questions I had during the process and kept me updated. Kurt honored his very reasonable estimate even after having to make a slight adjustment (requiring additional supplies). Quality of work is important, which they have down pact, but courtesy, integrity and punctuality are just some of the things that sets Guardian apart from others.

However my experience with James Fowler and RFHVAC.com was so unexpectedly good, I'd give him 6 stars if I could! James replaced a massive 600Lb, 50 year old boiler, along with a good part of the plumbing stack. He was communicative, and collaborative, fielding endless questions and working with me to design the perfect system which he installed like it was a work of art! He also showed up within 24 hours to rig a temporary system so I would still have hot water prior to the new installation, so I didn't miss a single hot shower, and then incorporated the temporary fix so it would serve as an automatic backup should the boiler ever fail. He went above and beyond and you'll be very happy to have him do any install or repair.
