    Each room is unique.
    Christofer G.

I have been coming to the Widder for over 15 years and every time I come, I have loved it even more. Each room is unique and combines preservation with modern style and amenities Which make the rooms both elegant and comfortable. The staff are exceedingly kind and helpful. The location is also in the heart of old town with lots of great areas to walk nearby. It is also convenient if you are in town for work and want to have the ability to get around the city while also being close to great restaurants. The hotel has been very well-maintained. Even through Covid. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when I'm in Zürich.

I have spent years in this peculiar dance, measuring spaces not merely by their dimensions but by their capacity to hold dreams, disappointments, and the fragile architecture of human gathering. In my profession, one develops an eye refined by countless betrayals--venues that promise perfection yet crumble under the pressure of reality's unexpected demands. But here, within these walls that seemed to understand the sacred nature of collective purpose, I discovered something increasingly rare: an establishment that rises to meet chaos with grace. The morning's first speaker, intoxicated by the warmth of his reception, allowed passion to override precision, his words spilling beyond their allotted boundaries like water breaching a careful dam. In lesser hands, such deviation might have spelled catastrophe--schedules collapsing like dominoes, lunch growing cold while tempers grew hot. Instead, I witnessed something approaching artistry: the seamless recalibration of an entire afternoon, accomplished with such fluid professionalism that our guests remained blissfully unaware of the crisis averted. The staff moved among us like benevolent spirits, anticipating needs before they crystallized into requests, their courtesy so genuine it felt almost anachronistic in our age of practiced indifference. Each interaction carried the unmistakable hallmark of institutional excellence--that rare quality which transforms service from mere transaction into something approaching ministry. Only in one small corner did the modern world's complexities intrude: the invisible web of connection that binds our digital existence proved elusive. Yet even here, the fault lay partly in my own reluctance to disturb their evident competence with what seemed, in the moment, a trivial concern. Perhaps this too speaks to their success--they had created an atmosphere so conducive to human connection that the absence of its electronic counterpart felt not like deprivation but like liberation. I will return, inevitably, drawn back by the knowledge that in a world increasingly defined by compromise, some places still understand that excellence is not an aspiration but a responsibility, not a destination but a daily practice of small, perfect acts.

The lack of communication and follow through has been an absolute nightmare. Let me start off by saying: we are longtime, loyal Hyatt guests and typically do not stay with other brands unless a Hyatt is unavailable. With that being said, we are very familiar with Hyatt properties and their service standards. However, this was our very first stay at a "Park" Hyatt (and we had saved almost all of our points for), and given the brand's reputation for elevated service, dining, and accommodations, our expectations were understandably high. The week prior we had actually stayed at a Hyatt Regency (considered "lower" than a park Hyatt) in Amsterdam--which exceeded our expectations--making this experience even more disappointing by comparison. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a bellhop and offered water while waiting to check in. The lobby was particularly stunning as it had a huge, non-artificial Christmas tree in the middle of the room. Check-in took longer than usual, and we were asked to wait in the hotel restaurant. After some time, a staff member who appeared to be a manager encouraged us to order whatever we wanted, stating it would be complimentary (never a good sign as it usually means they are conditioning you for some bad news). Shortly after, we were informed that the suite we had booked using 120,000 points was deemed insufficient for our family of five and that we would need to pay an additional $900 per night to be moved into a larger room against our will. Since the front desk had already issued key cards to the original suite, I went up to take a peek. Based on my observation, it was more than enough space for our family, particularly given that our children are young and require minimal space. However, after spending over an hour waiting and hoping to salvage the remainder of our evening, we reluctantly agreed to the upgrade--an additional $2,700 total--despite having already redeemed a significant number of points for what we believed was a suitable accommodation. The following morning, we went downstairs for breakfast and then returned upstairs to prepare for the day. When we made it up to our room, housekeeping greeted us and asked that we not enter, stating they had just begun turndown service. I let them know that our plans for the day could not meet that request and we would only need about 20 minutes in the room to brush teeth etc. They stated their request...again. We found this extremely unusual and uncomfortable, as we have never before been told we could not access our own hotel room. We proceeded to move into our room. When we entered the space, we found it partially turned down, which was expected and not an issue at all. However, one of the beds was visibly soiled. This was both surprising and concerning. Regardless of room category, this is not something we would expect at any Hyatt property--particularly after paying an additional $900 per night for the forced upgrade. Overall, this stay was disappointing and fell short of the service, cleanliness, and value we associate with both Hyatt and the Park Hyatt brand specifically. I would encourage future guests to explore other properties for a better bang for their buck. Based on our experience, this location did not meet the standards we have consistently experienced at other Hyatt properties worldwide.

The robes, slippers, and in-room coffee were all great, and we were surprised with champagne and chocolates for our anniversary, which was a memorable gesture. The blackout blinds that closed by remote were a small but luxurious detail, and the front desk staff were welcoming throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the restaurant, SILK, located in the lobby. It's a cozy, romantic spot with soft lighting and excellent service. Our first dinner there was delicious ~ we had octopus, fish, and glasses of Chardonnay that paired perfectly. We returned on Sunday for a light meal of cheese, wine, and salad. The location is quiet and peaceful, away from the busy Old Town but very convenient to the beautiful walkway along the Lake. The rooftop terrace was a highlight with stunning sunset views. We would definitely stay here again!

The hotel was immaculate, staff were all very friendly, and the rooms felt like an upscale apartment and not even a hotel. Each floor is also themed with a different region of the world, such as France, Asia, England, etc, which was cool and it was done in a very tasteful way. Good quality amenities in the rooms and our room even came with robes - I was living my best wannabe luxurious European life!

Hotel St. George's - Zürich…read more This small, three story boutique hotel located centrally in downtown Zürich, with accommodating staff. I walked to this hotel from "HB Train Station," when I first arrived in Zürich. I wanted to explore by foot streets of Zürich. When I walked in, I really enjoyed the lobby (I forgot to take pics ). It offers a touch of historic elegance. Lobby area also leads to their own restaurant area. Breakfast can be purchased separately at the restaurant or at the time of booking. Once the friendly front desk lady finished accommodating a guest before me, she invited me to sit at the comfortable furniture by her desk, to check in. As she assisted me to check in, at some point in our conversation, I mentioned that I forgot my universal outlet adapter. She said, "I do have one extra I can give you for 10 Swiss Francs." It was her personal one. I felt bad she was giving up hers, but I was so grateful. "Thank you for offering me one, yes I will take it. I researched that it would cost 30+ Swiss Francs at a store." It was a wonderful first impression of the friendly and welcoming staff. Once I received my key, another staff member guided me to elevator and up to my room. The room was fairly small with a small bed, and personal sink, but for solo traveler, it's perfect. (All other hotels were more expensive and further away from downtown). You do share toilet and shower with other guests. Each of the three floors, offers few toilet rooms and shower rooms. At first, I was a bit concerned since I've never stayed in hotel with this type of arrangement. But, honestly, it was not an inconvenience in any way. I never had to wait for other guests. I had a balcony that I walked out every morning and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Every night, I propped my window open, fell asleep and enjoyed waking up each morning to chirping birds. Overall I would recommend this hotel and look forward returning.

The bathroom and shower were very clean as well. I was a tad nervous sharing a bathroom/shower with others, but didn't notice a difference really. Never had to wait for either. I did get breakfast one morning and it's a buffet style of typical European foods. Eggs, breads, jams, cheeses, cold cuts, muesli, cereal, and yogurt. Delicious. With tea, coffee, juice, and water. I wish I would have gotten it the whole stay. I would definitely recommend this establishment. Especially for the price and location. Close to train station and many restaurants and sites.
