Great spa in the basement. Expensive -- better to stay here on a business trip than on your own dollar.

The hotel's location cannot be beaten. There are great views of both the countryside and of the city of Zürich particularly if you go up the observation tower. The west facing hotel rooms also have absolutely gorgeous sunset views. The staff has always been very friendly and professional and a pleasure to deal with. What's probably most surprising about the Uto Kulm is how reasonably priced it can sometimes be. I'm guessing that they must do a lot of large parties and big events and during the times between those events there are often good deals to be had. We paid way less than you would expect for such a scenic place overlooking one of the most expensive cities in the world. Breakfast here is also delicious. It's not included in the base room rate but it is totally worth it. Everything is fresh and high quality and the view from the terrace is great.

You can walk up to the tower for a view over Zürich, but be aware that there are a LOT of steps. I had to take lots of breaks while going up. :P Tip: If you need to use the restroom, just walk into the restaurant and go down the stairs on the right. They also have a cool shoe cleaning machine in addition to the breathalyzer there.

Hotel St. George's - Zürich…read more This small, three story boutique hotel located centrally in downtown Zürich, with accommodating staff. I walked to this hotel from "HB Train Station," when I first arrived in Zürich. I wanted to explore by foot streets of Zürich. When I walked in, I really enjoyed the lobby (I forgot to take pics ). It offers a touch of historic elegance. Lobby area also leads to their own restaurant area. Breakfast can be purchased separately at the restaurant or at the time of booking. Once the friendly front desk lady finished accommodating a guest before me, she invited me to sit at the comfortable furniture by her desk, to check in. As she assisted me to check in, at some point in our conversation, I mentioned that I forgot my universal outlet adapter. She said, "I do have one extra I can give you for 10 Swiss Francs." It was her personal one. I felt bad she was giving up hers, but I was so grateful. "Thank you for offering me one, yes I will take it. I researched that it would cost 30+ Swiss Francs at a store." It was a wonderful first impression of the friendly and welcoming staff. Once I received my key, another staff member guided me to elevator and up to my room. The room was fairly small with a small bed, and personal sink, but for solo traveler, it's perfect. (All other hotels were more expensive and further away from downtown). You do share toilet and shower with other guests. Each of the three floors, offers few toilet rooms and shower rooms. At first, I was a bit concerned since I've never stayed in hotel with this type of arrangement. But, honestly, it was not an inconvenience in any way. I never had to wait for other guests. I had a balcony that I walked out every morning and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Every night, I propped my window open, fell asleep and enjoyed waking up each morning to chirping birds. Overall I would recommend this hotel and look forward returning.

The bathroom and shower were very clean as well. I was a tad nervous sharing a bathroom/shower with others, but didn't notice a difference really. Never had to wait for either. I did get breakfast one morning and it's a buffet style of typical European foods. Eggs, breads, jams, cheeses, cold cuts, muesli, cereal, and yogurt. Delicious. With tea, coffee, juice, and water. I wish I would have gotten it the whole stay. I would definitely recommend this establishment. Especially for the price and location. Close to train station and many restaurants and sites.

Upon check in the front desk agent walked me to my room to show me all of it's amenities and to make certain I was pleased with the accommodations. Which I was (see photos). Room was set up as a suite with a sitting area that had a nepresso machine with all accompanying sugars, creamers etc. a fully stocked complementary mini bar (non alcoholic) with sparkling and flat water, juices, etc. also some chocolates and potato chips to munch on. Free WiFi made working here a pleasure. King size bed, flat screen tv, Bose wireless speaker that synced to my iPhone. Beautiful view of the countryside with the city center in the distance. Excellent breakfast was included. Lovely bar area with a bar bites menu where i had an assortment of tartares. Complementary shuttle to/from Zurich city center (about a 10 minute drive). Everyone from the front desk staff to the shuttle driver to the bar and restaurant servers were lovely and most remembered my name (I was only there 2 nights). There is a gym and spa on site as well that I didn't get to experience. Although this hotel is not within walking distance of any of the Zurich tourist attractions, I would come back here any day and take the quick shuttle to the city to take my walking tours and then return to the ultimate Luxury of the countryside resort that is Atlantis by Giordano.

I'd stay here every chance i get!

Thankfully Wi-Fi was free in this hotel and the first bottle of water was free and for that I am grateful. Having traveled across Europe extensively, I have stayed in some amazingly luxurious hotels and some run of the mill hotels and this one falls in the category of a run of the mill hotel (definitely not a 4 star) with a few caveats. Location : Getting here was simple from the airport (6.80€) - Train to the main train station and Tram 17 to SihlCity. From SihlCity the hotel was a 5 minute walk. I heard from a colleague that he paid 80€ for a taxi to the hotel from the Airport. Reception & Guest Services : The reception is on a floor above the entrance. The reception was quick to check me in and my room was 2 twin beds...I asked if I could get a single bed and they weren't able to accomodate me. Room : The room was very old and outdated...the bathroom had a tub with a shower curtain (I am still shocked that I didn't have a shower stall) and my bathroom door did not close properly. There were no USB outlets to charge my devices which in this day and age is a huge negative. Also the airconditioning was extremely iffy - I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. On the positive side : the view outside was gorgeously green, the nespresso machine helped give me a huge caffeine jolt -- so needed to counter the jetlag and I loved the toiletry (jasmine, rose and neroli - be still my heart), breakfast was included in my package and was definitely a highlight and the hotel was walking distance from the Meta offices
