Scenic overlook of Zurich from hotel
Doug C.

This was a really nice hotel; it's Grand. Located outside city center but with great views. It is more a place for large group tours and/or large scale business meetings. Room was very well appointed. Fantastic artwork all over the place. One can take a museum tour and at each piece is QR code display so you learn more about the item. Being on tour we didn't have a car but there was a nearby restaurant (Restaurant Degenried, Thomas Juon) which I wrote a separate review. A few minutes walk from hotel. On second day our tour guide took us to the funicular just outside the hotel and rode it down to city and later back up. Take the #3 or #8 tram to get into city.

Every room has great and amazing views. Either on the woods behind the hotel or onto Zurich city / pool area in front. Great valet service, very attentive to detail and experts in driving high end manual sports cars. This is not Miami, where you are unfortunately forced to abandon your baby car to a teenager valet who looks like he barely knows how to use the clutch! Food is obviously over the top, but a little bit too much nouvelle cuisine in my opinion. A lot of appetizers and in betweens on the house / offered by the chef, which makes the whole experience a little uncomfortable. We ordered a meat and a vegetarian dish and the waiter kept bringing little hors d'oeuvre kind of tasting bites in between our appetizers, entrees and main courses. The o bites were mix of caviar, oysters and other types of fish items that we weren't really in the mood of tasting during our dinner.

Swiss nights ~ piano, rose and some glam.

Hotel fit for a princess!! Maybe a queen or two. Nothing screams adventure like following a stranger into a dark alley space in a foreign country. Oh wait~ there it is!! It's a hidden tram station. Only way is up! Not connected to anywhere! All you have to do is go up or wait for that bright light :) charming in my book! Or creepy? Kind of goes hand in hand! All the cobble stones, narrow roads and trams. Picture yourself away from all the hustle and bustle of busy central area of Zurich, which is about fifteen minutes drive. Not too far. You get dropped off here as instructed. And the only way up is to take the tram. But where is this tram!! It's not visible from the street trams. One can look around for a while. Or perhaps bump into a very nice local and he will take you there. Once you're inside, you'll be oohing over many little details. The place is as grand as you can imagine. Almost like a museum. You wouldn't want to be running around here. Never know what you might break! Service is good. Great even. But you definitely know you are in a luxury hotel. Soft jazz, piano bar, beautiful chandeliers, art, crystals, gold, views!! As usual in Zurich, it is quite expensive to stay here. But it is also quite a treat. Love the room!! Service isn't pushy or over the top. I didn't spend enough time in the hotel as I should but from what I saw, I enjoyed it. A must do~ the lunch!! The view!! And their Michelin start restaurant's tasting meal! End it all at the beautiful dim lit, chandelier filled piano bar. It can be quite lively even on a weekday! Our musician was quite charming and sang almost anything I wanted! Lovely indeed! I'm sure it is a fantastic place for events and such too. Definitely a fun and memorable stay!

Excellent a la cart breakfast. Had the Eggs benedict with smoked salmon and my husband had an omelette with poultry sausage and mushrooms. Their juices are fresh squeezed - love the pineapple juice!!

The hotel was great, beautiful views of the city and a golf course, the drive is passing the woods with a great walking track. The bar in the hotel is great, the decor is very chic and they have live music

View from the front lobby looking out over the valley. Beautiful and clean.

A lot of hotels boast high star ratings, but none more deserving of all stars than Dolder Grand. Unique, unexpected, perfectly situated, more than enough room, finished to perfection. Cost is higher than other hotels I've stayed claiming high star ratings, yet this was understandable in price. You get what you pay for. The art collection around the facility is truly museum worthy and should be seen by the many. Overlooking the beautiful city perched over her shoulder serving as the good angel offering true harmony when choosing this path. Enjoyed the architecture woven into the hillside and then jeweled with beautiful sculptures and wall ornaments like a chandelier earring around ever corner. Nothing seemed excessive or I'll placed, but rather neat and prepared for the royalty staying in each well manicured space. Will return to spend more time in the near future. Switzerland has a heart and it seems to be living here.

Loved it here

Probably the best hotel and spa I've ever stayed at. I wish I could review the spa but I don't see anywhere on yelp. The room was spectacular with spectacular views of Zürich. I love the contemporary design. The spa was beautiful I had a wonderful massage highly recommend staying here if you go to Zürich.

First amuse at the incredible two star Michelin restaurant.

My amazing fiancé chose this hotel for our final two nights of our nine day vacation. We biked through Alsace for five days and by the time we arrived in Zurich, we were ready to chill. Why you'll love this hotel: 1. Service, service service. Outstanding. Anticipating everything. 2. The Restaurant - two star Michelin. July 4 - table overlooking the fireworks. Tasting menu. great bottle of wine. stellar service and food that makes your eyes roll back in your head. 3. Shower and tub and bath salts & soap. Need I say more? My eyes couldn't focus on all of the shower head sprays - eventually I figured it out. That's what a good education can do for you...wine helped too. 4. Outstanding breakfast - both days - fabulous buffet and staff. I do have to comment on a guest we observed though. Now I know we are not in the financial echelon that most of the guests are; however, we know how to treat people. This guest must have been a regular. How else would everyone jump through hoops as he listed off all his demands for breakfast? the worst...when he called them over and asked to have the LIGHTS TURNED DOWN FOR THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT!!! It was breakfast, not a nightclub. Then, he had the audacity to call them over and say " now, isn't that better to have the lights turned down?" "I'm sure the other 40 people eating breakfast really appreciated that one...sorry, had to show you that money doesn't always buy manners. 5 The Spa...the experience here will leave you wanting for more. There is nothing like this spa, pool and restaurant. I can't begin to describe it. Just go and stay there for hours. We loved our experience, the view atop Zurich and the opportunity to enjoy two nights at this beautiful hotel.

Facade of the beautiful Dolder Grand Hotel

Based on reviews from several guide books and the sheer beauty of the building from the pictures, I had to visit the Dolder Grand! The hotel is beautiful and well kept. While I didn't stay in a guest room, I did enjoy a great (albeit expensive) lunch at Saltz. I had their goat cheese "snack" followed by the traditional chicken club sandwich. The goat cheese was topped with a small beet and was absolutely delicious!! I only wish it had been a bigger portion. The club was a pretty small portion as well, which was a bit disappointing given it was €34... But, it was a very fresh and tasty lunch entree. Service was prompt and courteous and the views are to die for (on a clear day you can see across Lake Zurich and the surrounding Alps). Overall a pricey and not terrible easy to get to lunch option, but worth the trek and expense. I will definitely return...but next time with my sweetheart!

We needed early checkin as our flight came early and she made it possible. We were in Suite #2: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with fully furnished kitchen; AC including full Washing machine and dryer (in the basement)! I absolutely loved this place. Sylvia (the Mom) was amazing and extremely helpful as well. I believe they can also provide you a parking spot if you need one. The best part about this place is: (1) pharmacy at the corner (2) coop supermarket a few blocks down (train can be taken there as well) (3) so many cute/cool walking stores nearby (4) safe to be out and about ~8/9pm if you're jet lagged (5) train stops a few feet from the hotel. We were able to go around the city with so much ease and comfort knowing we wouldn't have to walk after a long day of walking. Teresa Stimac is an independent, qualified cosmetologist and esthetician there. The website had a flyer with English, so I assumed she would speak English. But when I called to make an appointment, we had to use a mix of her poor English and my poor German to communicate. Somehow we muddled through, but it wasn't pretty. I showed up early to my appointment, but Teresa was with another customer and wasn't ready to see me yet. Soon it was time for my appointment... and she still wasn't ready. 10 minutes later... and she STILL wasn't ready. :( I went up to the hotel front desk to inquire, but they told me that they had nothing to do with the beauty salon and I just had to wait. I think after about 15 minutes, Teresa finally came out with the previous customer and ushered me in. I was pretty annoyed because she could have come out earlier to set expectations and at least apologize for running late, instead of making me sit out there fretting for who knows how long. But perhaps it was difficult for her to do that, being a one-woman show. Her technique and the products she used were very good. I've had quite a few facials in my life, and this was probably one of the best. BUT, the customer service was horrible. Right after she steamed my pores open and was about to do the extraction, someone knocked on the door and she went to answer it. It appeared to be a woman who wanted to buy some product, but instead of making a quick transaction, they launched into a long conversation about which products to buy. How rude! I must have waited for like 10 or 15 minutes... which was completely unacceptable during a 90 minute facial that already started 15 minutes late. Thank goodness I wasn't on a tight schedule, or else I would have been completely late to my next appointment. By the time Teresa came back to me, my skin was already cold and dried up and tight, so the extractions became very uncomfortable. The steaming effects were long gone already. I wish the service here was better, because her massage techniques were fantastic. After my facial, she asked if I wanted to purchase any product, and normally I would have--because I loved how it felt on my skin--but I was so pissed off at that point that I didn't buy anything. This is a situation where the poor service completely ruined the experience, and I vowed never come back here again. Such a pity, because I really liked the technique and the products.

We secured a hotel at Hotel Uto Kulm with the expectation that this experience would be once in a lifetime. Let's just say, that was not the case at all. We checked into our hotel and our phone did not work, we notified the front desk and the clerk just said oh, ok. At this point we were under the impression that she was going to notify management of maintenance so we could get it fixed. 3 hours later when we were trying to order room service (we had just travelled 8 hours with a 1 and 5 year old) and there was a huge snow storm, the phone still did not work. We went to the front desk and the front desk clerk said that they would move us rooms, I went back to the room to pack up everything and a clerk from the front desk then came into the room picked up the phone and said "Ma'am, your phone is working fine, you just need to dial 666". I said well Ma'am, we have completely packed up our room it would have been nice if this information was part of your check in process as we have been here for 4 hours with no access to the phone to call the restaurant and front desk and we are in the middle of a snow storm, staying in a building that is not connected to the main building. When I was at the front desk I had ordered some food because we had not eaten all day, the food was incredibly overpriced and for the price not very good at all. CHF 130 for a burger, chicken dish and 2 soda's. They then sent a very nice gentlemen to come help us move, we got into the new room and went to put the milk we had carried up the mountain away, and our FRIDGE was BROKEN!!! We called the front desk and the ONE very kind lady was very apologetic. We left the room for a 20 minute walk and came back and there were ants all over our room. I walked down to the front desk to see if they had any little ant traps or remover and they said "no, we don't have that" The rest of our stay the entire staff was so rude to us and made us feel very uncomfortable. There are no stores or anything so we were hoping to enjoy some of the drinks in the fridge, they were covered in dust and HOT! When we received our confirmation email the clerk sent us a map with directions to the parking garage in downtown Zurich. We drove 6 hours, parked at the garage and then before we got out of the car we called the front desk to confirm that this was the right parking garage and that we were going to get on the train and head up to the hotel. They confirmed it was the right parking garage, we even told then the name and on we went. Little to find out at the end of our stay this was not the right hotel. So when we checked out we showed the front desk and the manager the email traffic and they said that we were to send receipt and the clerk who sent us that email would reimburse us. We sent the receipt and they responded telling us that they would not reimburse us, please be aware this was CHF 85. I have a degree in hotel and restaurant management and I was SO disappointed in the service and experience we had here. The price of the rooms were outrageous and we were okay with that initially because of the location. Once we received the email that they were not going to reimburse us for the parking we asked very kindly for the name and email address for the owner of the hotel. We never received a response. We think it is imperative that they know of our experience so this never has to happen to anyone again. The location and the views were absolutely AMAZING!!!! But the experience was TERRIBLE .

It offers a touch of historic elegance. Lobby area also leads to their own restaurant area. Breakfast can be purchased separately at the restaurant or at the time of booking. Once the friendly front desk lady finished accommodating a guest before me, she invited me to sit at the comfortable furniture by her desk, to check in. As she assisted me to check in, at some point in our conversation, I mentioned that I forgot my universal outlet adapter. She said, "I do have one extra I can give you for 10 Swiss Francs."
