Our…read moregranddaughter spent all eight of her elementary and middle school years at Odyssey Day School and experienced tremendous success in every academic area. She's a high school student now and is in the top 10% of her class academically, thanks in part to the patient and knowledgeable staff who helped her work to her potential in a caring atmosphere. I've visited the school several time and can tell you what I've observed. Not only have the teachers at Odyssey provided resources to allow the students to learn and grow, but they guided them in positive ways and encouraged social awareness, something that's very important to our family. Their student workshops are interesting and well planned. My granddaughter had the opportunity to learn about photography, rocketry and textile arts, among other non-traditional subjects. We enjoyed visiting the school and socializing with other families during pot luck suppers, picnics and ice cream socials and the International Week festivities. We found Odyssey very affordable thanks to financial aid, but even if we hadn't qualified, we would have found a way to send her to Odyssey. All in all, five stars.

In an education system where standards often feel diluted, RSM at Winchester location stands out as a brand that consistently delivers excellence. Their approach is structured and yet incredibly engaging--making math not only challenging but fun. One of the things I admire most is how thoughtfully teachers are vetter at RSM Winchester and how teachers are aligned with age groups their skills and personality would best be suitable. I also saw the quality in the whole setup. Each topic is offered at three levels of difficulty, allowing students to start where they feel comfortable and progress at their own pace without feeling discouraged. This flexibility ensures that every child can build confidence while being challenged appropriately. My son benefited immensely from this system--he advanced two years beyond his school math level and is now taking AP Calculus in 11th grade. The teachers--Barry, Maximo, Liliya, Olga, and many others--were exceptional. There was a sense of deep expertise combined with nurturing approach. Such an environment taught my son to love learning, to think critically. RSM doesn't just teach math; it builds resilience, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong appreciation for intellectual growth. I literally saw a sign, a lawn sign, and as soon as I pulled up the website I knew this was the answer. We went in for a day to check it out and participated in a class that asked us to write down emotions that were putting holes in our buckets. We then went outside and burned them in a fire pit. This was exactly the type of place I wanted my son to be. My son was stressed out about the grades and tests and homework at his public school. We loved that Plumfield doesn't "test" their knowledge but rather has them do narration for what they are learning, really thinking about and writing down or speaking what they've learned. Our son works through his math book at his own pace. Beyond the general academics Plumfield teaches scripture while allowing the children to share and have their own beliefs. I love that they do nature study, logic, and the arts (drama, music, acting, etc). And my son is currently working through 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens which he has very much enjoyed. We love the "nontraditional" approach offering our child broader, life oriented lessons. The teachers have all been wonderful and supportive. The director John is an honest, wonderful man who has developed a loving relationship with my son helping him through struggles in his life. Our son says Plumfield feels like a family. We feel incredibly grateful that we were able to find this gem of a school for our son to finish out his middle school years. He is working with Plumfield to apply to St John's Prep for high school and we truly believe Plumfield has offered him the best preparation for his high school career.
