From giving a snack to Buddy the friendly vocal sheep, to bottle feeding the adorable baby goats, my visit to Rose Bridge Farm was a great escape from the noise and commotion going on in the outside world. It is well worth making a reservation on the website to visit. There are also special activities to sign up for ranging from making a succulent "wall" to hiking with the lovely hiking goats in Wissahickon Park. Some yoga with the baby goats also sounds like a real treat and challenge to try one day.

For a reasonable price, there were two food trucks (cheesesteaks, meatball sandwiches, hot roast pork, chicken nuggets, fries, etc), cupcakes, jars of locally made apple butter and honey, plus fundraiser table with caramel sauced apple slices. I was SO impressed with the volunteers. They were all very professional and polite. It was all teens hosting the kids' games, and they were amazing kids; all cheerful, competent, proactive individuals working to make a very fun experience for those younger. Everything ran super smoothly. They had ample volunteers at every post, but they weren't talking to one another or on their phones, they were present and willing/looking to help. I can tell Fox Chase is very experienced with these events because there was a process for each activity, lines were plotted with ropes or signs, everything was well-placed and well-spaced. Volunteers were apprised of every detail for their job, and super well informed. It was just extremely diligently planned. They even had parking at various local lots, and a school but shuttle to get you to/from the farm, all free. Even the police crossing guards at the entrance were plentiful and right on top of their tasks. In addition to having a blast with my kid, I also enjoyed the community. There was so much diversity at this event, I loved it! I heard so many different languages and saw all types of people. It was so fun to join in with such a melting pot of Philly Area peeps. Even the animals were chill and content, and super gentle with and trusting of the kids feeding and patting them. It was a great time! My only suggestions would be for the event to be longer (it was 12-4pm), and for more fall apple offerings, like apple fritters, candy apples, cider donuts, pumpkin bread, caramel popcorn, etc. If the fundraiser table sold those items it would be amazing! Also if there were a table selling apple and pumpkin pies on the way out, I can see them making a mint. People were so reluctant to leave, and wanting to spend money and take things home.

The outdoor portion of the visit includes experiences that are visual, aural, olfactory, tactile, & even edible. They are set up for people with a variety of mobility. The indoor facility was beautiful & engaging, with separate rooms for active playing, light & sound sensory experiences, and even a meditation room. I went twice in 2 weeks, with different children & adults who had some similar but also some different favorites. I will be back. This is a very, very special place. Also, their fresh produce is really amazing. The strawberries my sister brought me from them last May (we live in Baltimore, so we only go when we visit my sister), were like the kind I've gotten from California when I lived out west. Juicy, plump, you can sloppily eat up half a pound before you realize you need to save some for the strawberry shortcake dessert you promised your family and friends who are coming to dinner, LOL! This is a great place to bring out of town visitors who want to enjoy a truly delightful Pennsylvania farm. It's less than two hours from Baltimore, so definitely worth the trip if you live in the DMV. May they plant long and prosper!

We spent most of the first few hours walking around the zoo that had a huge chicken range, duck pond, cow, goats, sheep and horses. There are vending machine to buy corns to feed the animals. We had to get our own quarters as the coin exchange machine was broken. Around the noon we head to the Linvilla Grill. They had some good pizza and chicken tenders. There were few outdoor benched to dine. Price was little steep. The freshly squeezed lemonade was outrageous. They make the whole thing by grinding lemon right in front and put it in a huge plastic 32 oz jar. It is so worth for $8. We also bought some peaches and cooking sauces from the market. Cash is preferred, for credit card they charge fee at the market checkout.

I was thrilled to purchase 2 handmade items from Annabelle's Wish stand. Annabelle's Wish helps children and family struggling with rare neurological disorders. Last Saturday, we decided to do one final holiday outing with our little - a light show. She been…read moreloving the decorations and Christmas lights she saw in our neighborhood or when driving around, so I thought this would a great family outing to close our the holiday season. If heard of Shady Brooks light show and has never been myself - neither had my boyfriend - so it was the first time for all of us. We paid in advance online and there was luckily a discount so we only paid $25 per car instead of the original listed price of $45 per vehicle. It's was about a 40 minute drive for us coming from the city and we luckily didn't have any traffic on our way there or back. When turning into their site, they had signs to direct you to the lanes/area to drive through the light show. Once we got to that area, we drove up to the booth so they can scan our ticket, handed us a newspaper/booklet to go with it, and we were on our way! The light displays, concepts and sections (e.g. "12 Days of Christmas" with 12 displays of drummers drumming) were very well done. Our little one loveeeeedd it - except for the Grinch of course because, he's the Grinch lol. It wasn't a short drive through but not too long either. Once we finished the light show, we did park and got out to take a quick look at what else was going on and get a lay of the land. Would definitely recommend checking this out for the holidays and we would come back to check out the playground for her, wagon rides, etc.

Prepare for around 30 minutes to drive through, but that will of course depend on how crowded it is. I don't love being outside in the cold, so absolutely loved that this was a drive through experience. Put some Christmas tunes on in the car and take in all of the magic! The enchanted forest and lit up trees was probably my favorite part. We only visited for the lights, but I've heard great things about all of the activities on the farm and would love to go back in the fall.
