Apparently, Odunde, Inc does many things. The only thing that I've experience is the Odunde festival, held in June on South Street near Grays Ferry.
Like many ethnic festivals, there were vendors selling trinkets. but there were also lots of African and African-American themed products. Lots of Caribbean and soul food for sale, and great entertainment. There were capoeira, drumming circles, African dance, breakdancing, and even hip hop dance by some adorable girls from a local dance troupe. Authors were on hand to sell their books. There were hair stylists doing amazing things and beautiful clothing for sale.
I'm told Odunde hosts the biggest African American heritage festival in the US. It was definitely packed with people.
Check it out next June! (As you can see by my photo, you don't have to be African American to have a great time at the festival!) read more
