It was my first and last visit. I sought help with dog treat and food choices but was practically accused of animal abuse. Oddly, no recommendations were forthcoming. I was also going to look for cat items but changed my mind. I purchased some raw hearts and a gift and departed. Perhaps I came on the employee's bad day". That being said, the small store was well organized and well stocked if you know what you are looking for and don't mind the person berating your dog feeding habits and not making a recommendation at all. Judgmental is the best way I can describe this. I was excited to come based on a neighbors recommendation. I wanted to find freeze dried supplemental food for our dog since she's on prescription food for crystals. We had told the store front this and he said vets don't know anything about pet nutrition and it's going to make her condition worse. Then proceeded to ask if we'd like to stay on dry food. I said yes, since it's easier. Then the judgment started. "Who are you thinking about?" He went on to make assumptions about what we feed her aside from her dog food - such as pizza crusts. We said a weekly egg, fruits and vegetables. We really should have just left but still asked for a recommendation. He recommended a duck based dry food and said there's other options of the brand such as beef, chicken, and salmon. I requested the salmon variation and he responded that "dogs are carnivores and need to eat meat" - as if fish isn't meat? My husband said we give her chicken, with the last time being the night before. To which he responded, "What kind of chicken?". Then proceeded to tell us that dogs can be sensitive to chicken. The entire time, it just felt like we were being tested and had to justify not being bad owners. Nothing we do is right. As if we didn't rescue our dog and are trying our best? Would these kinds of places rather we had not adopted her at all? Honestly, as an average pet owner, I would not come back. read more

I am so excited to share my review of this super awesome wholistic fine pet foods store. This is a one stop shop that blew my mind with all the hard to get wholistic raw pet foods. The Owner is such a knowledgeable person with wholistic raw pet foods. I love Dr Harvey's raw pet food, and this store has a nice selection of Dr Harvey's various raw foods. In addition there are ton's of pre made raw food by companies I never knew existed. I also loved that this store sells CBD oils for dogs, and cats. Which I use for our 17 yr old Shih Tzu. I have to drop their five stars to a 1 star, 0 stars if there was a selection. 1) Each time I buy something they ask for your name again and again. I hate that. Not only am I a customer who gives them a credit card, they record you the first time you use it. Even if you pay cash they will ask for your name. Why would I go to a store to buy something and always be asked for my name. I just want to buy something and get out asap and not have to worry about what my name is and why I am in the system. I finally had the urge to ask why I'm in the system and why they have to ask for my name each and every time I visit. The guy on Sunday shift told me it's for my own benefit and nothing else. I don't want to be in their system! I don't want to be asked for my name each and every return trip! I can't believe how annoying their system and no other store that I know of would keep track of my name other than Dr visits. Are they a doctor? No. Therefore, I want my name out of their system! Additionally, they don't have my consent to be added into the system. They are just entering our names into their systems as soon as you give them a credit card. I feel violated for being entered into the system w/o consent. I was not given an option whether or not to be added. I had to personally request my account be deleted. When I walked out the door the guy on Sunday shift yelled out, "My Name", you've been deleted off the system!!! I don't think he had to scream that last sentence at me. I already saw him delete me off his system. That was bad demeanor sounds like he kicked me right out. He should no longer be employed for his actions. 2) They won't accept our Nature's variety product without a receipt. The product was a bad batch under investigation. Natures variety claim if we are not 100% satisfied to bring it to the store for a return or exchange. They stated again and again that w/o receipt they won't accept the product and to go back to Natures variety. Natures variety claim I should in fact go back to the store. Since they refuse I left no choice but to have to submit a complaint back to Natures variety. 3) I tried to redeem coupons for their products and they claim it is one per customer. Me and a friend always go together to save on gas and time. They claim we are the same customer and cannot use two separate coupons on two separate purchases. That makes no sense! They make that claim two times in a row on two returned purchases. 4) I asked them if they have products for cats for a friend. They tell me they don't carry products for cats. Then when I checked out I realize the samples of treats were for CATS! The sign stuck on the sample packaged stated, "Great treats for dogs." I wouldn't expect to read the packaging to prove otherwise. I just can't believe I gave my dog cat treats! I confronted the sales dude on Sunday shift and he told me you do know that dogs can eat cat food. It's just the extra protein and taurine. If I had known it's cat food I won't give it to my dog regardless. There is a reason why it is called cat food for a reason. I don't need to be told twice dogs can eat cat food. Even if that is the case, fine, however, customers should be aware that they are giving their dogs cat food and not purposely have a label on the sample they are "Great treats for Dogs." So contradictory. It should be "Great treats for Cats." All this time I asked about cat food for my friend and they didn't tell me they had cat samples. Then I had to find out that what I have been feeding my dog was actually cat treats. 5) Unbelievable but true, I received a call from the store owner. It was unsolicited. I voiced my experiences he said there was no valid reason why I was unhappy, unsatisfied, etc. I don't understand why all the reasons that I listed above is of no good reason. I asked what was the purpose of the call again and he stated to ensure I don't treat his staff with disrespect. I don't understand why he said that. So I had him explain. The reason he claimed was that his staff on Sunday told him that when I walked out the door, he said have a nice day and I shouted back don't say have a nice day! I can't believe what he told me! I was so upset! Not only did the staff screamed to me that I was deleted off the system, but he changed that into, Have a nice day. That was untrue. I told him he did not say that so it is up to him to question his staff. He should be terminated for making a false claim. He told me it may be another customer after. Very rude to call me up to yell at me for something I didn't even do. He ordered me not to come to his store if I don't stop being disrespectful to his staff. The only thing I did do is to voice my above complaints directly to the staff on Sunday and to the store owners after my trip upon their call. Unfortunately, the owners apparently do not know how to handle customer complaints nor suggestions. read more

My cat has had quite a few health issues over the past four months. Every time the vet would treat her, the treatment would cause other issues such as diarrhea. She also recommended tests that ultimately wouldn't have cured her problems and were very expensive. The people at Wholistic Paws took my pet's health very seriously and provided me with a natural remedy that helped tremendously with her allergies and a probiotic for her diarrhea. Recently she became extremely finicky about eating and had lost weight, and once again I was worried about her. Wholistic Paws recommended food for her to try and so far she is eating constantly. Love! They just opened a store in my town. Took the pooch for a walk into town this morning to check it out. We had a blast. Best selection of chewies I have ever seen as well as all natural foods and supplements. They even had paw protection balm which I have been looking for with all the salt on the roads during the this way too frigid winter. I found Wholistic Paws on a recommendation of a friend. I thought I'd spend a lot of money feeding a dog raw but it turns out to be around the same and processed in the long run but the added bonus is the attention that is given to you (and your pet) when you visit. They not only remember dog by his name but offer him healthy, delicious treat whenever we visit. Very disappointed! I paid $10.50 for a rubber strawberry shaped chewy that holds treats. My puppy chewed it for less than a week & the top "leaf" separated from the bottom. I was lucky to take it away before she choked on it. I was not able to get to the store until 3 weeks later. I asked for a refund & was told it was beyond the 15 day refund period so I could not get my money back. I told him it's not a question of the money, rather that the store is selling an unsafe toy. He did not seem concerned at all. I asked for the manufacturer's name & he said they would probably give me another strawberry. I had to explain that I don't want another one. I have been loyal to Wholistic Paws for my dogs entire life. He is 11. When I am asked his age people are surprised and the usual comment is he looks like a puppy. I attribute that to his diet. Reilly has been on a raw diet since he is 8 weeks old. It has made all the difference in his health. The expenses are not much more than mainstream dog food and in the end, medically speaking, he has very little health issues than most other dogs who are fed wheat, corn or soy based dog foods. Wholistic Paws is my go to if there are issues before heading to any vet. My dog has had mild medial patella in his hind legs. A year ago a vet wanted to do surgery on his legs and do a sonogram on his organs due to elevated liver enzymes. Wholistic paws recommended a liver detox, we adjusted his diet by cutting back on protein, giving half the protein, adding goats milk as the other half of his meal at breakfast and, sweet potato as the other half at dinner. I had his blood draw a month later and his liver enzymes came down significantly. They recommended glucosamine for his medial patella issues which was much improved, he has less of a limp. This saved my animal the stress of going through surgery and saved me $4000 at the vet. My dog will live a long healthy life, is not over weight and is lean mean machine at 9/lbs. I could not make a stronger recommendation to introduce you and your dog to Wholistic Paws, Ridgewood/Ramsey and Bark Ridge, Park Ridge NJ. read more
