My two tuxedo boys just received their annual exam and bloodwork with Dr. Comeaux and I can truly say this has been the best veterinary experience I have ever had! My Yorkie, Maile was bright and alert when brought into Whole Pet for rapid breathing after a hectic morning of accompanying her sibling to Whole Pet for his scheduled appointment. She suffered from anxiety when her daily routine was disrupted. In my educated opinion, Maile would still be alive today if I hadn't brought her to Whole Pet Davidson. I was led to believe that she was in need of oxygen and had to be placed in an oxygen cage. She was hastily diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and given a multitude of drugs such as Lasix, steroids and opioids which caused worsening of her condition. Maile's 3 lb. body was so over medicated that 1 1/2 hours later, they urged me to euthanize. I refused and they continued giving her drugs without taking bloodwork to monitor her kidneys until they finally released her 5 hours later. In the end, I took her to CARE Charlotte where she had extensive testing confirming that she never had Congestive Heart Failure but the drug treatment she had at Whole Pet shut down Maile's kidneys and pushed her into kidney failure. I had no other option but to euthanize her. Even though I was a long-time client, I will always regret my decision to bring Maile to Whole Pet Davidson. I filed a case with the North Carolina Veterinary Board and although I had ample proof of my claims, the veterinarians at Whole Pet Davidson fabricated an entire narrative to cover up their mistakes which is as despicable as what they did to Maile. Saving their reputation was far more important than being honest about taking the life of my dog. I am also aware that I am not the only one who has filed a complaint against Whole Pet Davidson with the North Carolina Veterinary Board. I have seen in prior reviews that Whole Pet is quick to respond to any reviews that they perceive as being negative. I can only hope that they do not respond to my review, as that would be yet another stab to my heart that has already been through so much. They know what happened, as do I. Any response would yet again show their complete lack of empathy and so little care which, please know, is also a reflection as to how they treat their pets and their owners. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Well it's been 4 years since my first review so I thought I'd update it. My 4 dogs are now pretty well into their senior years and along with that came quite a number of health issues. The vets and the rest of the staff have been wonderful in diagnosing every problem and working with us to find the best solution to keep them healthy and happy. There have been various digestive problems because my dogs eat stuff they shouldn't. I've had one dog who went thru acupuncture and was successfully treated by a chiropractor there for serious back and neck pain. One dog recently underwent a blood transfusion for anemia. Another dog is currently showing signs of dementia, My point is that throughout the last 4 years, my dogs have consistently received the best care here. I don't trust my fur babies with anyone else, Dr Uehlein is their primary vet but our dogs have been seen by all the other vets for urgent care or for more specialized treatment like acupuncture. They're all compassionate and caring and they don't sugar-coat anything. All my questions and concerns are always answered. I like that they continue to provide holistic and naturopathic treatments along with the more traditional methods. With the pandemic, they've been very organized with their safety protocols during our appts and with picking up meds. They have a system in place to keep everyone safe from infection. I've been completely happy with the care my dogs have received from everyone on staff here. read more

Holistic medicine has always been extremely important to us when it comes to vet care and when I ran across the Hospital of Davidson I knew we no longer needed to look any further. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and very welcoming, especially when it comes to taking the time to answer questions regarding treatments etc. The fact that they specialize in acupuncture, K-laser, and chiropractic adjustments is wonderful. We found out our guy has lower back compression/arthritis and was waking up crying out in discomfort every morning. After x-rays and discussing treatments with Dr. Rattray and Dr. Uehlein, we began laser and acupuncture treatments which has been a complete game changer! We had the best experience at Whole Pet Davidson yesterday! I called yesterday morning and they offered me a same day appointment, which was very difficult at our previous vet. We saw Dr. Hanna Andrews and Kendel and they couldn't have been sweeter. I have a very nervous girl and this was the first time she wasn't debilitatingly nervous. The exam room had a comfy couch and large windows, which put her at ease. I made a comment about how this made her comfortable and they were so thoughtful to put this in her chart to remember for her next visit. I didn't feel rushed at all and Dr. Andrews was very honest and compassionate. She offered several solutions to our issue and supported our decisions. Dr Linen, Janan along with the rest of the staff at Whole Pet were beyond phenomenal. They took their time with my 5 month old tiny apple head chihuahua - answered all my questions and even managed to give Emmet his shots without him freaking out or crying. He's underweight for his age (2.5 pounds) and Emmet still has an open molera on his head. Dr. Linen was amazingly thorough, gentle and patient with him all while taking her time to explain what I needed to watch out for and pay attention to. Her knowledge was so valued because I didn't realize how fragile these puppies actually can be. She recommended fantastic ideas to help get his weight up as Emmet should really be about 4 pounds at his age. I graciously took her advice to offer him food more often throughout the day and not to focus on morning and afternoon meal times. It's been a month and he's already gained almost a pound! I can't say enough about Dr. Uehlein and all the staff. I had been to 7 vets trying to find out what was wrong with my dog. The last had suggested an ultrasound. After calling around, found they had the best price around. Dr. Uehlien examined her and said she did not need an ultrasound but would benefit from a more comprehensive blood panel. This started an almost year long journey of trying to help my dog, who was losing a lot of weight weight was rapidly declining. After trial and error of diet, meds etc , we got the correct diagnosis, meds and health plan. My dog has gained all of her weight back and its back to normal. Dr Uehlien, never gave up, even when I was starting to feel defeated. She always took as much time as I needed to ask questions and understand the issues. Literally the best vet practice ever. I'm forever grateful of them especially Dr Forward and her team. We went from the worst week ever last year in thinking we would have to put our cat down to getting a second opinion at this vet and no where near having to put her down or close to our cat's "death bed." I went to my previous vet in Huntersville since 98 so you know changing vets is not the norm for me. I won't look back... We drive a solid 45 mins here from West Charlotte and worth it. Dr Forward is so patient, thorough and truly helps in getting to root of issue with holistic approach. She and everyone we have worked with or encountered there are very friendly and detailed. No long waits in the waiting room, you get to see the Dr very quickly and pet is happy! We recently switched vets because we had heard such great things about this clinic and how quickly pet symptoms/issues were resolved holistically or by simple diet change recommended by the vet, Dr. Nicole Sheehan. I will take diet change or herbs for my pet over medication/medical treatments any day! Who's with me? So I can't respond to what you said but I have the email you all sent 5 months later checking up about appt and making another. That is when I told you I wouldn't be coming back and why. I received a response to write down and send exactly what happened. So I did. No email or call back. I work 2 jobs and my fiancé and I are very busy. You never got back in touch with me nor replied to my detailed review that was personally exchanged through emails. And now you snap back at me publically and so inappropriately when all I did was address the way you guys treated my dog!!!! No sorry. No change. And nothing but a horrible attempt to try and make me look like the one in the wrong! Y'all are in this mess in the first place because of how badly you handled animals, high pricing, and unnecessary labs and exams for major amounts of money that we don't need! The way you have talked to me and other customers when they are giving you the trust with their loved family is insane. I am pretty sure I have gotten a couple people in the community to STOP going there because of your ridiculous pricing and horrible way with animals and customers for that matter, but trust me I will be letting everyone with an animal in DAVIDSON know! FYI instead of trying to prove customers wrong and get your dig in for the day...how about apologizing and trying to be a more reputable vet for animals. Dr. Sheehan, Dr. Forward and the entire staff here have been such a blessing for our senior dog. She struggles with neck pain and has responded so well to the treatments that have been recommended.
