This ER is amazing! The Dr on call was amazing as was her assistant. We brought our dog in with Lethargy and unsteadiness. We believe he had a brain tumor, he was only 8. He had been acting strangely over the last few months, but mostly behavioral. On Wednesday he was just not himself, unsteady, but by Thursday he was definitely not doing well. They did ultrasound and xrays plus the bloodwork from the night before from a different er. They gave him fluids and vitamins but unfortunately he had a really bad seizure and was not doing well. We had to put him down. The vet was awesome. We laid him in our car, on his bed for 1 last ride and said goodbye. This is definitely the ER you want for your pet, they care! read more

My dog decided to get a 4 inch long piece of wood impaled into his chest. He is a classic German Shepherd mix and is skittish and it's worse when he's injured. They did a fantastic job working with him and discussing how it would be best to go about resolving the problem. He is on the mend, now if only he would not destroy my house with the cone! read more

Denver Animal Emergency is a MONEY PIT with no answers, I'd avoid at all cost unless you NEED to go there. I never write reviews but my experience was so bad: I brought my sick golden retriever boy (4 years old) who had been throwing up, lethargic, not responding to his name, laying down and didn't want to be up even for a little, refusing food and water on 04/20/25 (Easter) so I brought him in. The vet ran his bloodwork and did a physical and everything came back clear so the doctor said he thinks he ate something but couldn't give me a full answer which cost about $670 to get no answers fully. Keep in mind too they don't do heart worm testing in the bloodwork and they also don't do a fecal sample. They sent me home with GI medication and anti-nausea. Told me to bring. Him in if it continues. 4/22/25 had to bring him back to the vet due to excessive drooling, nausea, laying down after being up for a few mins with his head down, refusing water but eating rice and chicken, threw up again. The ER said to do a Xray so I did to see if there was a blockage, also I had let them know he isn't a dog to get into anything/ wouldn't eat anything besides a bug or part of a stick but even then he doesn't eat sticks, just carries them. Got another physical done and also par o test which came back clean. The Xray showed nothing and they gave him more anti nausea and antibiotics, still didn't have an answer besides he might have ate something. Another $740 down the drain. He was fine for a couple days then 4/25/25 he started throwing up blood, being lethargic, not wanting to walk around, not being responsive, super sleepy and unwell. I brought him back AGAIN for them to suggest bloodwork because "things change" and another physical as well as give him more fluid and antibiotics nausea and send us home with more anti nausea. Again, blood work came back actually better then the first time when it was already amazing, they didn't feel anything, a different doctor saw him but AGAIN had no exact answers besides had ate something but he's only finally eating chicken and rice with broth (finally kind of drinking but stopped the day he threw up blood) and keep him on leash and walk him in the back yard so there's no way he ate something again. Another $670 down the drain. They want to send him to a specialist that would cost $3-4k in Charolette to do an MRI. I took him to a regular vets office called Animal Hospital North who was AMAZING. they did a blood test, stool sample, physical, anti nausea, antibiotics, parasite medication, monthly medication for everything (heartworm, roundworm, parasites, tick, flea etc) and gave him shots. Within 10 mins or less when they took him back with his poop sample, the doctor came in and told me he had Parasites/ worms. All of that cost me $234 and I got an answer. Avoid this place at all costs, they only want to leach you for money and not give you answers. Go to a regular vets office instead if you're able and make sure to thoroughly do your research on places you bring your pet. read more

We sadly had to put down our big dog and I'm so glad we chose Denver Animal Hospital to do so. After researching extensively, I found that many services are quite expensive. However this hospital was by far the most affordable option. Although the price was a concern for my wife and me, we also wanted somewhere that would be respectful of this extremely difficult decision. They got us right in and were amazing and so compassionate. They even sent us a signed card from the staff along with our sweet boy's paw print. Later, we brought our cat in for a regular checkup for an illness about two months later and they were super helpful and didn't push treatments that weren't absolutely necessary. The wait was a little long, but they are an emergency hospital so they operate on a first-come-first-serve basis and they still got to us as quickly as possible. We brought our puppy who had been throwing up all day. We waited for over two hours and they wouldn't let us come in while car after car arrived and pets walked in. They came out to the car twice and looked at her and told us we would have the next room and then continued to wait. No communication we had to call to find out anything. I do not recommend coming here. When the first individual came out. She wouldn't listen to how long we had the puppy. She accused me of having a whole litter of dogs when I specifically told her I had two from the same litter. She ignored what the fact that I had taken the dog to the vet twice for her 8 and 12 week shots. She was completely judgmental on anything I had done and acted like it was my fault my puppy was sick. While you say that my pet wasn't a priortiy, two of your people came out and self diagnosed my dog with parvo but wouldn't come do the test and then said she most likely ate a foreign object and that she needs xrays immediately. Again, no urgency from the staff whatsoever while saying my pet was dying from parvo or had something trapped in their body. You can't say that my pet was stable when you when employees deemed her sick and she wasn't even given an exam. If she had Parvo as both your people said she did then that's an emergency. If she had some foreign object in her making her sick. That's an emergency. Maybe you should teach the people come out to cars to not diagnose and scare people into believing they needed every test run and every possible scan just to drum up money while saying she isn't an Emergency. She literally laid in my lap for 3 hours which if you know anything about puppies, that not normal behavior. read more

Our cat was very sick, so we took him to Denver Animal Emergency. As far as emergency vets go, we had a great experience. They were very accommodating and personable, especially considering we were there late night hours. They were very fair in presenting all of our options and not forcing us into spending more money for services. We felt like they were very caring and compassionate. I do not recommend Denver Animal Emergency (DAE). Our dog received treatment for a GI obstruction on Saturday, June 22. By Tuesday, June 25, he presented symptoms of infection, and his sutures were coming undone at the top of the incision. The vet who treated him took a culture, flushed out the incision site, and put in a staple. By Saturday, June 29, his sutures were all coming apart, and he needed to have a revision surgery. Although his culture results were unavailable, the vet took another culture and performed the revision. On July 3, the culture results revealed that our dog had e. Coli, which comes from cutting into the intestines. By the following Saturday, July 6, his sutures fell apart again. The same vet performed another revision surgery and frantically called us the following day to say that she may need to perform another procedure and put him under general anesthesia less than 24 hours later. We declined and brought our dog home because we had lost all faith in their ability to provide appropriate treatment. Our main contention is that DAE will take no accountability for the medical care they provide. Including the original surgery and revisions, we paid nearly $10,000. Because we believe that they introduced the infection into our dog's system (the timeline suggests he was infected in their care), we asked for a refund of the revisions. After their corporate overlord BluePearl conducted an internal review, they found that its own organization did nothing wrong. Their standard of accountability is that they could not prove medical negligence had taken place; therefore, the charges were justified. The onus is on the pet owner to prove that trained medical professionals did something wrong, seemingly ignoring the fact that we paid thousands of dollars for treatment that did not fix the problem. Be aware that they will have many excuses to fall back on, ranging from "medicine is a practice" to "there is no proof medical negligence took place." They can squirm their way out of taking accountability through various means, and you will pay every step of the way. In the unfortunate event that your beloved pet needs emergency medical care, pursue other local options before going to DAE. You might save yourself a lot of heartache and money if you do. read more

My pup went in for overnight observation when another vet noticed a potential blockage in his intestines. He was sooooo sick. Unable to really move, not eating, vomiting all day, etc. The X-rays showed the potential blockage but the ER also caught questionable sizing on his kidneys. We did some exploring and he's coming back normal on all things outside of the X-ray blockage. It's confirmed and we do surgery - there was indeed a blockage (corn cob) (we will literally never eat corn again) and it was quick to retrieve but Dr. Sulik also wanted to make sure his kidneys were okay as the X-ray was showing it to be much larger than expected. It turns out he was born with only one kidney. We would never have known until potentially too late if Dr. Sulik hadn't done her due diligence during surgery. Axle is now home resting comfortable and focusing on recovery. The entire team was nothing but kind and helpful. They provided plenty of updates and called consistently while Axle stayed to recover. They also have a texting program which made it easy to get quick updates and ask questions while they were busy with other patients. Every question I had was responded too and the doctors took their time to make sure I understood what was going on. I felt the price of the surgery and recovery was very fair and if you are reading this and have pets - I'd recommend pet insurance if you are concerned about potential emergencies. They happen - even with the best and most healthy pets. Dr. Pierce, Dr. Bruketa, Dr. Sulik, Taylor, Autumn, and everyone else who helped make sure Axle was taken care of THANK YOU. I took my puppy here after she swallowed a whole hew and ended up with diarrhea. I liked the vet a lot. He was very personable and didn't run unnecessary tests to get my money. This is a great place where neither the owners nor the customers are hoping for repeat business. A top notch although not inexpensive full medical facility which offers full emergency care for injured or sick animals. Great skilled and sympathetic doctors are supplemented by caring techs and well trained office staffers. They also care about the human sides of the family and offer free coffee and other drinks. They are one of the few places which maintain anti venom so if your pet is bitten by a snake head straight here as the sooner it is administered the more effective it is. I was sent here by another vet for my dog to get surgery and Denver Animal Emergency disagreed with the radiologist report they received from an ultrasound. They wanted to do an x-ray claiming it showed more. Sent us home and for two weeks my dog had two more episodes. When I called back to DAE they told me to come back. Did another x-ray, said my dog had a UTI and if he had a foreign body in him he would be dead. Two days later took my dog to another vet, they did another ultrasound and he did in fact HAVE A FOREIGN BODY IN HIS INTESTINES! Dr. Ohara and Dr. Pierce showed ZERO sympathy and refused to come to a resolution for the lack of care and misdiagnosis! Our cat had a urinary block about 8 months ago and Dr. Sulik and her team took great care of him. Unfortunately he just recently blocked again and with their guidance and advocacy for him we unfortunately had to put him down. Everyone in that office was so kind to us during that experience. They were quick and efficient with the paperwork and gave us our time with him before and after so we could properly say goodbye. I was referred here yesterday for an emergency with my 7 y.o. Pomeranian- Dr. Karriker and the assistants were amazing. They answered all of my questions, made sure my baby was stable before we left, and clarified his prescribed meds/all next steps I need to take with my primary vet. After my dog was hit by a car, I took him to the Denver animal emergency clinic. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, they wanted to charge me $900 + dollars to put stitches in his leg and do x-rays and give him a saline solution or something to help with shock and clean his wounds. I ended up getting only part of the services done. Thereby, I paid $330 to purchase the antibiotics and the pain medication and to have IV for shock and a saline solution to clean and shave the area where he had the open wounds and abrasions. Despite them being rather pricey, I did appreciate the fact that the veterinarian followed up with me the next day to check on my dog. Two days later I took my dog to his regular vet and they stated that he appears to be doing fine and to continue doing what I'm doing no x-rays or stitches were needed. read more

This vet has done wonders for us. Emergencies are terrifying, and it's nice to have a group of people who are calm during the storm, supportive, and understanding. A few weeks ago we brought in our sweet girl because she was in a lot of pain and having difficulty breathing. They took her in immediately and were very sweet to her. Unfortunately, it was time to let her go, after hours of pain and no tail wags at all, she wagged her tail walking out of the office! I just knew she loved every single person she came into contact with. Due to Covid, we weren't able to go inside the office, but there was a beautiful set up outside behind the building where they were with us to put our sweet girl down. It was an awful night, but it will always stick with us that one of the employees said she had the softest fur they'd ever seen. I cannot recommend this place enough. They were straight forward with us, listened to all of her symptoms, they were professional despite how much ugly crying was going on, and overall wonderful to have had around for those last moments. I've attached a picture of the set up they had out back. They had a wheeling metal table, but they let our girl lay on the ground where she wanted to be and let her be as comfortable as possible while we were with her. Masks were required, but we knew that by then. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place for our girl to spend her last moments. We have other dogs, and we wanted to make sure that they could grieve properly. The staff was amazing in helping us find a way to be able to take our girl home and bring her back in the morning for cremation. They handled everything for us that they possibly could, and were incredibly accommodating. To the staff: Thank you. Truly. From the bottom of our hearts. We retrieved her ashes, paw prints, and a sympathy card was sent to us in the mail that was amazing. This might've just been another sad night for you guys, but how sweet all of you were not only to our girl, but to us as well is really what makes you stand out the most. Having a place to take your babies in a crisis in the middle of the night is HUGE!!! My first experience was with my little girl Shirley. I was in the hospital with my mother going thru alit! My husband fortunately was home and saw my baby girl suffering. He immediately took her to Denver Animal Emergency. They took her in and diagnosed a very bad UTI. Treated her and she was feeling better very soon. They even reached out to your regular vet to share info. Unfortunately my little girl is not with me but a have adopted a very sweet little Beagle. She is only 3. Has been very healthy and active until last night around 1 am I experienced a horrific scene which appeared to be a seizure. Obviously my vet was closed so I headed immediately back to Denver Emergency. They took her in within minutes and worked on her in between an emergency surgery. I was beyond grateful!!! Took time to explain diagnosis and send info to my regular vet. These people are my angels. Our dog went here when she was acting weird: nausea, vomiting, and nervousness. We ended up finding she was having liver and gallbladder issues, the doctors gave us multiple options for treatment and were very reasonable with our options. I knew my 13 cat was sick and dying but I was in denial and not ready to let him go. I googled vets in my area and was unable to get an appointment and the emergency vet near me had terrible reviews and I didn't want my last moments with my kitty to be horrible. I looked up reviews and drove over an hour to Denver Emergency and they were very great handling his last moments. Even though the inside is closed due to Covid they allowed me to come in and say goodbye and stay with him while they put him down. They even handled the cremation and were very caring and sent a lovely condolences card. After that great experience with a sad situation I needed to take my 9 year old doberman to a vet with a swollen paw and infection in her foot. With vets I always expect to pay absurd amounts of money and thought they were going to suggest surgery to see if she ate her bandage but they were very accommodating and suggested antibiotics and a cone and to keep an eye on her for signs of discomfort. I highly recommend Denver Animal Emergency for your pets needs. read more

Scheduled for 9am, unapologetically pushed to 9:45 then 10:30am. Unless your animal is literally dying right at that moment, in which case they might be helpful ‍, take them elsewhere. Words cannot express how very appreciative we are for the doctors and staff at Denver Animal Emergency. Our 14 year old Beagle, Buster, had been a patient for several years as he would get pneumonia every couple of years. We took him on February 5th as he was having trouble breathing and they took him right in. He stayed in the oxygen tent Saturday night and on Sunday, after no improvement, Dr. Sulik advised it was time to let him go. She was so very compassionate and helped us to know it was the right thing to do. If I could give zero Stars I would My dog had a stroke Saturday night right before the snow storm. I had a conversation with someone there and and under a minute she was talking about euthanasia. I'd also been there before with a friend and the euthanized her dog. So I went there can't go in because of covid okay I understand. After two and a half hours no one had seen my dog that had a stroke. So I told him to give me my dog I was taking him home if they weren't going to look at him and I would take him somewhere else. Then they began to try to tell me that I couldn't take my dog and then I said you cannot tell me I can't take my dog somewhere else finally they relented and brought me my dog. Several people had gone in and out and they're only letting people into euthanize their pets so what is that tell you. In my opinion this is a euthanasia factory if they're a little old they immediately want to euthanize the animal that's my experience. This is not one time, I've experienced it it's twice and saw several people come in and out of there while I sat in the parking lot for 2 and 1/2 hours. I am taking him elsewhere and he's seeming to recover some, of course he will probably never ever be the same again. If you need emergency vet please go elsewhere there's one on Statesville road in Huntersville I have had more success than here. I will never take my animal back there nor would I recommend this veterinarian to anyone. Even my worst enemy. read more

I took my 12-1/2 yo retriever here last Sunday because she was showing signs of vestibular syndrome which can be due to an ear infection. Dr. Clark confirmed that she thought it was vestibular syndrome and asked to do blood work $$$. The paperwork showed that she had some gunk in her ears so I assumed they had done an ear swab and tested for an infection. I even called a few days later about an antibiotic because I was told she should be on one but was told there was no infection detected on her blood work! I thankfully got an appt with my vet because she was not getting better and low and behold the first thing my vet did was swab her ears and found a severe infection so she suffered another week because emergency would rather do blood work instead of a simple ear swab! Covid is very convenient for Denver Animal Emergency - you are not allowed in so you are at their mercy! Absolutely irresponsible! read more

I would not take any animal here. They certainly don't care about the animal first. The day after a big snow storm and all the vet offices were closed. Call there and found they were open and said bring our poor dog over that couldn't hardly breath. Drove 45 mins thru ice roads. Now realize my wife has has Rosie for 17 years since a puppy. She a Chihuahua that was in severe distress was having a lot of trouble trying to breathe. My wife is never separated from this Famialy member. But upon arrival the owner comes out to the car and says my wife cannot go in with the dog they need to just take the dog and go in and do what they need to do. I stated that she would not let the dog go unless she went with it. she would be more than happy to wear a mask. Keep in mind this is right after the storm and nobody else is there. hardly anybody is even on the road. He refused to let her go in and said we take the dog somewhere else. Knowing almost everywhere is closed. We ended up finding a vet that was able to see us about 4 hours later. She had to suffer 4 more hours because of this guy. We ended up having to put her down. But it happen in my wife's lap being held by her. Not in a strange office alone. I never met anyone With so little compassion for a poor animal that was struggling. PS the vet we ended up at was so caring the didn't even care about a mask just cared about the poor animal and taking care of her any way they could. It was Aloha veterinarian service. read more
