We took our kitty to our regular vet because she was sick. They did a few labs, and were not sure how to best take care of her. PETS was one of the recommendations. For a stressful time with our cat, the staff here were amazing. They were very kind to us, and did the best they could for our cat. Each person I interacted with was some of the nicest in the business. If I ever need them, I will be comfortable taking another pet here. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough for your furr babies in need. They took wonderful care of my cat in an emergency and their communication was exceptional. Everyone was kind and caring and I'll never take any of our pets anywhere else. read more

My dog was admitted due to improper vaccines and a 9 hour crating from a different vet hospital. I am extremely impressed with the honesty, professionalism and care that this facility provided to my pet. They not only carefully watched my yorkie and treated her pancreatitis, but gave her a bath. The staff reassured me that my dog was in good hands and told me that I could call to check on her as much as I wanted while she was hospitalized..I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is seeking emergency care for their fur babies! The staff here truly care about the health and well-being of animals! read more

The ER team who cared for our sweet 14 year old dog, Gibson, showed extraordinary kindness during one of our hardest moments. From the moment we arrived, they were gentle, empathetic, and swift in diagnosing what was happening. They treated Gibson with genuine compassion and made sure he was comfortable every step of the way. When it became clear that euthanasia was the most loving choice, they guided us through it with such tenderness and respect. I will always be grateful for the care they gave our boy in his final hours. read more

Night vet was aloof, curt with ZERO bedside manner. Not the kind of person you want to help your pet in a time of need. The beginning: Brought our dog in after suffering an episode. Loss of mobility, glazed eyes and confused. We were seen promptly with no waiting. The vet tech was OUTSTANDING. Perhaps the best vet tech we've ever dealt with. She was concerned, empathetic, and went out of her way to help us and put us at ease. She took our dog back for a blood test. While most of her results were normal, the white cell count was slightly elevated. The vet dismissed it saying "I'm not worried about that". The vet dismissed several of our concerns without explanation or discussion. She was very rude and condescending. Told my daughter our dog probably had a brain tumor. No medical evidence of this at all. What an awful thing to say without any medical backup. We asked about getting her some fluid and staying over night. GET THIS: They said it was going to be $1000-$1200. Needless to say, we took our dog and went home with absolutely no help from the vet. The vet tech is a credit to her profession. I feel bad she has to work with such a tool of a Veterinarian. What happened next: our dog slept through the night and we took her to our local vet. He was amazed the other vet dismissed the elevated white count. They took exrays and saw her liver was enlarged, indicating as infection. She was given a regimen of saline IV and shot of steroids and antibiotic. 36 hours later she's walking and eating. Still a little unsteady but so much better than she was. She comes home tomorrow after a two day stay with the vet. Bottom line: DO NOT take your pet here unless you are 100% sure of the vet that will be treating them. Your furry friend deserves better. And so do you. One star for the vet tech. Vet tech alone was 5 stars. Otherwise it would be zero. UPDATE: For all you dog lovers who are wondering about our Abby. She is back home from our vet after a two day stay and she's on a regimen of antibiotics and steroids. It's amazing how far she's come in 48 hours. read more

I brought in my feral cat for ear mite infestation & two large wounds behind both ears. He was constantly pawing & tearing large patches of hair and skin out from the ear mites. He was miserable. I was told that we would have to wait 3 to 4 hours because his situation wasn't considered an emergency. I waited 4 hours & every pet owner that came in was taken before me. It was 2 am Saturday morning. Could not wait any longer. My cat & I left without being seen. The disrespect was so appalling! I don't understand why my cat's condition was considered a non emergency situation. I would recommend anyone who has a pet emergency to research a more compassionate emergency vet. read more

Our dog, Lolo, was experiencing what we now know as GDV. We called in a panic, as we noticed his abdomen was swollen. They answered on the first ring and told us to arrive as quickly as possible. We were greeted at the door and they quickly brought Lolo back to begin care for him. The staff did not sugar coat anything, and let us know the true risks of GDV. Lolo had to stay for 2 nights, and the staff kept us informed the entire time. They were so kind to him and also understanding of what we were going through as owners. Without this team, we could have lost our best friend. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of care for their pets! read more

I wouldn't recommend taking your pet to this hospital my cat was brought here and was highly recommended a surgery saying that he wouldn't be able to make it another day and I couldn't wait until the other vets opened up and that I pretty much had to get the surgery today or else there's no telling what will happen tomorrow so like any good pet owner I got the surgery and came back the next day to pick them up, heard that it was a negative explorer meaning that there was nothing they found wrong with him in his intestines when they told me that the chances of something being wrong for 75 to 90% and when I heard those numbers, I felt like it had to be something wrong with him as we presumed he swallowed string. They told me there was no string in his intestines and that they checked. They also told me that they would try to make the smallest cuts possible, and only one cut if they could manage with one making it seem like it would be a small incision when I picked him up. It was pretty much a foot-long incision across his stomach a very gory site. They didn't solve the problem and instead, I had to bring back a cat home with a giant incision scar and a cone around his neck when the whole surgery could've been avoided because it didn't fix anything and now he's probably hurting more than he was before a few days past and then he had a stool come out with thread which was the suspected foreign body in his intestine that they said was not there and that they cut them open to find and said they couldn't find it was a lot of string and to imagine him passing that must've been painful for him. They sent him home without pain, meds or antibiotics. Two weeks later I went to get the sutures removed by a different vet because I didn't feel comfortable returning to this one the other vet informed me that he now has an infection along the entire foot-long incision and has to be on antibiotics. I do not trust this vet anymore, and I hope they do better in the future. read more

We took our cat in last night. Receptionist was really nice and caring. But Dr. Kay Dodson, she was so rude no empathy or emotions except for eye rolls. was so rude and her eye rolls and said we could do an X-ray that will be more money then if we don't see anyone or we do we're going to ask for even more money. If you do want to know. Then she goes on about her dying cat and talked about putting him down. We knew he wasn't good but we asked for help and what can we do. She even said your cats heart could burst read more

After calling multiple Charlotte area emergency vets who estimated a wait time of 10 hours (and some that said they wouldn't see me at all), my husband and I drove here based on their estimated two hour wait. It was a Saturday night and my kitten was very ill with what we would later find out was an intestinal obstruction. He would have had an incredibly uncomfortable night if he hadn't been seen when he did, and from what I understand his situation could have been fatal. My interactions with the staff and the main vet, Dr. Hunter, were great. They were compassionate yet efficient, and they were happy to answer any questions. I have only ever experienced emergency vets who require approval for costs before they get to work, so this was not a surprise. I was given a low estimate and high estimate, and signed away for them to proceed with treatment. Dr. Hunter called every time she said she would with updates, and I called halfway through his stay for a casual update from one of the other staff members. My kitten responded well to surgery and I was called in to pick him up about a day after dropping him off. His stitches looked really tidy, and for having spent 24 hours in the ER he seemed perky and only somewhat annoyed with me. During discharge we were handed a paper with instructions and that was about it. I would have appreciated a staff member going through the major steps of recovery and how to best care for him. We asked lots of questions to get this information from the person at the front desk - and yes, it's all written in the form - but it would have been nice to have someone explain everything outright so we didn't miss anything. This is not the kind of place a pet owner ever wants to visit, but I found the care here to be exceptional. I would absolutely recommend it to someone looking for emergency pet care! read more

While I don't recommend Cabarrus Emergency Veterinary Clinic as a relaxing place to spend one's vacation, this is exactly the situation in which I found myself last week. A tree fell on my fence, and my boys decided to go on walkabout. Unfortunately, one of them was struck by a vehicle and required immediate care. I found each member of the staff to be calm, caring, and knowledgeable. My dog is aggressive toward strangers and very difficult to work with, especially when in pain. Even so, the staff had all the skills and tools necessary to ensure that he received excellent care. Almost a week later he was feeling well enough to tangle with a copperhead, and we were back at the clinic. Even though they were well aware of what a jerk he can be, their level of care was consistently excellent. He is now in the process of recovery. I have nothing but respect for everyone who chooses to work in what must be the most stressful type of veterinary practice. Although I hope never to require their services again, I feel much better knowing that they are available and ready to help. My sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors, techs, and entire staff. read more

I called on Thursday night bc my dog wasn't doing well suddenly after being treated by his vet all week. I gave all the information to let them know I was on my way and the person answering the phone said "go somewhere else, there have to be other places close to you" and when I asked where she said Google it. Mind you I'm in my car driving with a dog in crisis. They were my go to but ill never return there again unless I have to read more

Receptionists was very nice but the doctor was very rude to us. Our cat was a few months old when we took her there and got diagnosed with some heart condition that makes her have liquid around her heart. The doctor gave us a dirty look when she diagnosed her with it and threw the x ray to us which my family who were also there thought was rude. My family is Hispanic and the doctor we had was very racist towards us and said that we should put her down because we didn't have any money. That was very rude when she said that and we took our cat home because of the outraged prices and the doctor. Please do not go here. read more

Staff was very nice but the one star is due to the condescending, inpatient, demeaning nature of Dr. Kay Dodson. I had to look her name up because she didn't even introduce herself when she walked in. I do give it to her she gets a golden star for explaining medical conditions wrapped up with a demeaning tone. As someone getting a doctorate in anesthesia and has cared for several people in their worst. I have never encountered someone with so little bedside manner like Dr.Dodson. As someone caring for people and their pets at their most vulnerable, compassion and respect goes a long way. Most of the time there is bad news to deliver to the family and they way it's delivered is what's remembered. read more

Our elderly dog was having some serious health problems so we brought him here. We were taken in immediately but unfortunately his issues were too serious to treat so we made the difficult decision to put him to sleep. The doctor and all of the staff were VERY compassionate and helped us maneuver through that difficult moment. I hope to never need their services again but if I do, this will be the place I call. Thanks to all of you. read more

Caring and compassionate especially for an emergency vet.. This means more than they know.

I'm sure it would have been good if we could have gotten in. Got there at 7:30pm and left at 10pm. You check in online and wait in your car. A person drove up 2 hours after we were there and watched them take their pet before ours. Mind you the pet walked in the door all on his own. So hopefully my pet will be ok till morning and can get her into a vet tomorrow. read more

These people are the must delinquents they pretend to be professionals they don't care about your family because that's what I think it is your pet for you,all those reviews are from the same staff members and friends, they don't care about your pet if you have pet you better start looking for someone who is open and kind with your pet ,in an emergency they will give you the Welcome but be prepared if you don't have what they asking for you and your pet are not welcome anymore until you pay a higher and ridiculous amount, all members are heartless pretending they love your pet but go ahead experience for yourself ,not even 1 stat but I have to add 1 in order to leave the review read more

My very first emergency vet visit was tonight. I didn't know what to expect with prices but was also too concerned to wait until the morning for our regular vet. I first called and employee over the phone was SO helpful and attentive to my concerns. She gave great advice if i wanted to wait until the morning due to financial concerns what to do in the meantime or my options. We ended up going in and the staff was so friendly. We especially appreciated the vet tech, Doyle who treated our fur babe as if he were a real child or human. The staff was so thorough and personable it made our experience much less stressful. read more

This place sucks. Don't bother taking your animal here without calling first. Our dog was having an emergency and they still turned him away due to being at capacity and gave us other options - all over an hour away! If an animal needs emergency attention don't you think that could be an exception? Not here. They are rude, uncaring, and not helpful at all. Such a joke read more

This is one of those places you never want to visit but are so thankful they're there. I recently had a cat get very sick very quickly, and of course it was on the weekend when my regular vet was closed. He could barely move and we had no idea what was going on with him. So, at midnight on a Saturday night, we took him here. The staff and doctor could not have been more caring and compassionate. If you think about what they're doing...working blindly on your pet without knowing their full medical history...it's amazing what they do. They were able to keep my cat there until Monday morning on supportive care, giving him IV fluids and medicine to keep him comfortable. When I picked him up he showed improvement, and after I took him to my regular vet for another couple of days he's just about back to normal. The visit wasn't cheap; however, they kept me informed every step of the way how much things would cost and I had the option to waive certain treatments if it was out of my price range. After comparing their bill to that of my regular vet, CEVC actually charged less for many tests and medications, so I can't say they are price gauging people in their time of crisis. I totally believe my cat wouldn't have survived without the care he received at Cabarrus Emergency Vet Clinic. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

As far as the medical side of things they're great. They are fast and competent. Here's the problem with the business, and note that I say the business, not the medical part. This should not be called an emergency vet. If you go in with an emergency and don't have either cash on hand or forgot your bank/credit card in the rush of worrying about your animal you might as well not go. They will not begin treatment until you're handing money over. I was standing there with a card out and ready to pony up and they still delayed treatment until I could prove I could pay the "deposit" which wasn't a deposit, it was the full estimate of treatment. Now, I understand that they probably have a reason for insisting on cash up front for services. People will be glad to say anything, agree to anything in desperation, and then default on the debt after. But when a living creature is suffering, probably dying, you don't just stand around waiting until money is out. You dive in and help the animal. Let the assistants or front desk staff handle finances in the meanwhile. All they really are is a standard vet practice that is open nights and weekends. And let me say again that the doctor is knowledgeable, skilled and does her job very well. Just hope that you have the capacity to remember your money, be it in cash, card or otherwise. read more

On Sunday evening the female emergency vet was rude, abrupt, and misdiagnosed my dog's neck injury as a sprain despite serious findings. yesterday she had neck surgery at the Emergency vet hopsital in Matthews. Tests there confirmed she had a spinal cord contusion and a telescopic cervical spine injury. In addition, we were given the worst possible pain medication for this type of injury. I wouldn't write this except she was unfeeling, condescending and didn't seem to care about my dog. read more
