We went for a Whitworth days visit and had a great experience!!! The tour was wonderful and informative. The President came and visited with the group and stayed to say Hi during the break. He took the time to be sure my daughter felt welcomed and seen. Dr. Mike meet with us to talk about her wishes in a college/program. He is a true gem! Having been a student here for 3 years now going on my 4th year. I thought it it would be a good time for a review. The first thing I have to say is it's not for everyone. If you are looking for a party campus you are not going to find alot here. That being said if you want to go to some parties you can seek them out if you want to. Though the school does have Christian values and I would say is a Christian school it does not try and force it on its students which I appreciate. If you want to seek the Christian religion you can if you don't most people will respect you and treat you the same. No chapel Is required, but there are various Christian events throughout the week. You do have to take one Bible class here if you want to graduate. The teaching is excellent though sometimes you get a bad professor or one that you just don't click with. But I feel like it is that way with most schools. The professors try to make themselves available to you. And genuinely want to help you. They are professors first and not just researchers which means they will actually teach. Never in my classes have I had a TA teach the whole class.Whitworth also has this thing called Jan term where you take 1 class over the month of January. This is a great way to get Gen Eds out of the way. Student life is good. Most RAs are not out to get you in trouble and actually want to have a relationship with you. The University adheres to the Big 3 (which are the main rules) no alcohol or drugs, no cohabitation, and no disturbing the peace. If you follow these rules you should be ok. And if you want to do theese things just do them off campus. The nicer resident halls are Oliver, Duvall, and Boppell. The other ones are older, but still have great communities. Really it is you who can make or break your experience. Finally the campus is most beautiful in early fall and late spring. (When school starts and when school ends) you will see people out and about in the loop, throwing a frisbee. In the winter it gets incredibly cold and snowy. If you don't like snow don' t go here. But the campus does turn into a nice winter wonderland from November to January. Overall this place has great academics and you get out what you put in. Also they tend to give great financial aid packages. read more

Beautiful university! I loved the brick buildings, the clean facilities, fresh cut lawns, and baskets of petunias hanging from the lamp posts. This was my first visit to this university and I had a wonderful time. My colleague and I met many staff and faculty members including the President and the Assistant VP for Diversity. Everyone was very nice and took good care us (providing lunch and drink) during our day long visit at Whitworth. We had a wonderful experience. Thank you Whitworth! I knew Whitworth when it was a college. And as I've meant to share a review of the school for a long time, here: the grounds were dilapidated, except for where families and funders get first views. The real inferiority, however, was in the simply horrid teaching staff. The ecology department was remarkably good: especially by comparison. The ode--of the 5 awful teachers I recall to this day--- the ode I really wish to make was the history professor, an expert in the Civil War, named Dr HC: who apparently didn't like the fact I knew who the most powerful US Senators were, historically. He took the chance one day at break to praise a student a few seats away from me: intoning "what a great student you are, compared to... " he waved in my direction "these others." And thus ended my expectations of enjoying his class or getting a fair grade. I transferred to WWU, where I majored in history, loved my profs and was a scholar nominee. He wasn't the only nasty pygmy there. My dad summed it up well: "They obviously value tuition above truth." read more

Ah, our neighbors up north while I was going to Gonzaga. I actually got to visit Whitworth on several occasions. I was surprised and sad to find out they had the horrible same cafeteria as us...Eurest. I heard we could actually use our student ID to eat at their cafetrias...anyway...I visited once as a freshmen..running into some students at their B&J residence hall..seriously you guys didn't think about that when you named it B&J? Anyway I remember seeing 10 beds stacked on each other and students running and jumping on them. Then begging us to take them back to GU to party with us...anyway the students seemed nice...I never got any trouble from campus security either during my visits or RDs. Everyone seemed nice. I don't know much about the academic part of the school though. ~G read more

I was recently a visitor to the Continuing Education Services Office at Whitworth. The administrative assistants were friendly and quick about helping our group make it to the correct office for our appointment. The staff member handling our appointment was professional and courteous. I was impressed with the building itself and the amount of parking available. However, the parking lot could use a lot more lighting for safety purposes. read more
