THE FOOD IS SO GOOD. We are from kansas city but needed to eat while driving through from the lake and this was the closest thing to us. We couldn't be happier. The food was delicious and fresh, the salads were refreshing especially after living off boxed garbage down at the river. The waitress was legit, ran the whole dining area on her own. There menu is varied and usually have food you can take to go. Menu is good, food is good, fun community place to eat.

Have always enjoyed the food and the service here. Tonight I went in by myself sat at the bar . saw the people next to be get service then two large groups walked in the were attended to the minute they sat down. then two more people walked in sat at the other end of the bar and were served the minute they sat down. I know several waitresses notice me setting there, After 15 minutes I just got up and left. Not sure I will be back . read more

I'm so glad we didn't order a double it would have been way to much to eat in 1 sitting. Wife have Chicke fried chicken and said it was awesome. We had fried mushrooms OMG the best I've had since leaving home. Chicken and mushrooms were hand breaded. I'm afraid to go back everything on the menu sounded delicious. Brain would go into overload trying to decide. The prices were very reasonable. We can't wait to try again. read more

Not a bad find! I liked Whittle's Pub & Grub and didn't have any major complaints. This is your typical "small town dive bar/family restaurant" with a bit of a modern spin. The decor is dated, the food is pretty typical, and the service is amazing! I enjoyed all the options of fried food for apps, we got quite the variety in our tasting platter and they were all delicious (along with the homemade ranch). I was pleasantly surprised that they had a rotating monthly menu with a different type of cuisine (other than fried/basic American), this month it was Cajun and they had some amazing dishes featured! I would recommend/come back if I was driving through, but wouldn't go that far out of my way for it. read more

Good bar and pub. Friendly wait staff. I had the chicken fajitas and they were great. Very friendly crowd, a great local hangout. A little smokey inside, (I guess you can smoke in bars in Missouri?), but a great place to unwind, watch the game and enjoy the company of friends. read more

Got served raw bacon, cold onion rings, and barely warm chicken. Got told I still had to pay for the food(Got offered 50% off that meal) this was of course after we weren't checked on for 25-30 min after the food was dropped off so did not have opportunity to get replacement and wife was a few bites away from finishing her meal so wasn't about to wait another 30+ mins for another potential bad meal. My family comes to Whittles during the lake season a few times a month or more, but that will not be happening anymore. Worst part is no one seemed to give a darn about the food or if we came back. I get being busy, but if you're charging 15-20 bucks a plate make it right. Also apparently instead of reaching out to try and make things right this kind of clownery occurs. Also the manager never actually talked to us they had the server relay their 50% off "resolution" The server was visibly annoyed when I pointed out the raw bacon and only said ok over and over again when I mentioned the food quality. read more

We have been to Whittle's about 5 times. The first visit about a year ago was fine. Husband enjoyed his food and mine was adequate. Ever since, it's gone downhill. The food is marginal and the service has been terrible. The waitresses have terrible attitudes and the wait for food is long. Next time when in the area, we will go elsewhere. read more

Myself and my Co - worker worked a 13 hour shift in Eldon...asked the locals about where to get a bite to eat of some good food and were directed to Whittle's. We arrive and walk in...The entire room stares at us making us feel uncomfortable and unwanted...we asked the lady who appeared to be in charge if were the right place and she promptly ignored us and went thru the clear doors separating the bar from the eating area. I'm sure...as in all cases like these...it had NOTHING to do with being in a small town and havng a BLACK co-worker. Either way...I'm glad we got snubbed...The whole place smelled like stale cigarettes and depends diapers. Will never try to visit again.... Manners are something that are taught everywhere...even in small towns. Make customers feel welcome and they might dismiss the smell. You should be ashamed. Wish I could give it NO stars or negative stars!!! read more

just tried the Blackjack Burger, Breaded Pork Tenderloin, and the fried pickles. the food was amazing!!!! especially the pork tenderloin & fried pickles, the breading they use was so crispy & crunchy & not greasy. the bathroom has room for improvement. read more

I was so addicted to Applebee's sirloin. I tried whittles about 2 months ago it's a small town but 10 min. From lake of the Ozark seriously the best with blue cheese crumbles I swear I eat it 3 days a week I'm an empty nester it been around 17 years the tenderloin can feed 4, no kidding the burger about 15 different 1/2 never frozen nothing not made fresh, what I love r the prices 7.50 to 8 buck steak 11.99 with salad and choice of side this place has a huge none smoking room a big sports bAR side and left overs thank god for left overy to much food. This place was delicious. The portions are huge. The bartender/server was such a great guy. They have a sign that reads "come in as strangers, leave as friends" and it actually felt that way. Prices are great and everything was tasty. Got the pork sandwich, which did not disappoint. Hubby got the cowboy burger, which he loved. And the chicken fingers! Everything is hand breaded! Food was terrible we got the Horseshoe Burger it was very generic with cheap cheese sauce over green fries. The fries had so much seasoning on them they were green and could NOT eat them. The Texas toast was soggy from not draining the burger. Walked out of there with a $28 bill for food that we couldn't even eat half of it. read more

So I'm an out of towner, and this was one of the few places even listed to eat, but we gave it a shot. Smokey dining area, but pushed through. Pro tip: get the pork tenderloin horseshoe style. Fries were some of the best fries I've ever had. Pork tenderloin was great, and the cheese sauce grew on me. I added grilled onions and mushrooms, and it was fantastic.
