The Parnell Senior Center Classes need supervision…read more Our Tap Dance Classes are frequently full of craft tables and a messy floor so at least 15 minutes of our class time is used for staff clean up. Some of the Parnell Crew even give you the hand if you wish to speak to them. It would be nice to arrive to a clean classroom ready for us to enjoy the exercise. Frequently you see the front staff eating chips and sipping sodas which is ok but not when their work is waiting. Wish I had a better report but this is accurate. Maybe it is time to speak to a supervisor or City Hall? Love the class, love the students and love the teacher. Fed Up!

My aunt under their care had a thyroid problem and high blood pressure after I repeatedly made it clear to stop taking her out to eat junk food. My aunt expressed on audio recording and video that she was pressured into giving in and agreeing with them and felt scared and overwhelmed. I spoke to an attorney and they have no right to keep her there against her wishes. My aunt's sister (my mother) recently passed away and my aunt expressed she wants to go back to her home to stay with her only surviving older sister. CAPC stands for Community advocates for peoples choice. They assist adults with developmental disabilities. It's a non profit organization. Life skills are taught to increase the quality of lives and support to make life decisions. Assisting and guiding to find employment and teaching transportation options (bus lines,dial-a-ride), planned outings (Dodger games,Hollywood bowl concert) and much more. I cannot say enough about this phenomenal organization. What an enormous honor and privilege it is to be associated with CAPC. Thank You all!

I want to share how happy I am with Sunrise ADHC. My mom has memory issues and has been attending…read morefor about 3 weeks now, and I have already noticed a big improvement in her mood and confidence. Before Sunrise, I had her enrolled at another facility nearby. Unfortunately, that place was dirty and run down. Many times the bathrooms did not even have toilet paper, and the environment did not feel clean or safe for my elderly mother. It was very concerning. The difference with Sunrise is truly night and day. The facility is very clean, the food is fresh, and they offer more filling meal options. The staff are patient, kind, and very friendly with all of the participants. I especially want to thank the social worker Karen who worked very hard to help me sign up for ACCESS transportation. I was a little disappointed that even though we live close by, Sunrise could not provide transportation for my mom, but I hope that will be possible in the future. Caregiver Jazmine is also amazing. She is very kind and extremely patient with all of the elderly participants. My mom talks about her often, and it makes me feel safe and happy that we found such a wonderful place for her. I do hope they can continue to expand their activities and possibly include more physical therapy and memory games for the participants. Overall, we are very grateful for the care and support Sunrise has given my mom.

I walked from the…read moreWhittier College campus to WALC about three or four times a week to tutor students, which was one of my favorite parts of the day! Meeting with my students was so fun and I was glad I could make a difference in their lives. Both Irma and Roxanne helped me out a lot and strive to make a difference in the Whittier community. Irma was so kind and always helped me in any way possible, even outside of the workplace. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is an ESL student or did not get the full training in literacy. I also recommend this place to any kids that are behind in school. If I ever go back to Whittier I would love to visit WALC. This place helped me greatly appreciate children.
