ice cream and caramel

Price, price, product. Just doesn't seem to equal out. I paid 5 bucks for an apple pie filling on top of about 2 small scoops of their custard that wasn't very good at all. I don't get the hype and I certainly don't understand how they can charge what they do.

Pros: The were open on a chilly Easter Sunday…read moreTastes using regular spoon instead of plastic - the Earth thanks you! Super creamy ice creams with lots of flavor options Friendly service Cons: 6 dollars a scoop The caramel flavor didn't taste anything like caramel. If I closed my eyes I would have guessed it was vanilla. I'll try another flavor the next time. Pro tip: If you are visiting Buckeye Lake, it's worth a visit for the novelty.

While visiting Buckeye Lake, I learned that Weldon's Ice Cream Factory is the place to visit. It's…read morean institution, and it has been around since 1930! I'm not a big ice cream person, but I do love sweets, especially a sweets shop with history. I ordered a banana split. Though, it was difficult to decide what to order! This place has a peaceful vibe, but the signage is a little chaotic -- it's like walking up to a Dr. Bronner's bottle. I had to stand there for a bit and read everything while the poor girl behind the counter waited for me to get my bearings. (Luckily I was the only one in the shop at the time.) There are different colored signs everywhere, listing daily specials, new items, and things you can buy that aren't ice cream, like bags of ice and local honey. The banana split was delicious: A perfectly ripe banana split between two scoops of ice cream -- I chose vanilla and chocolate. It's topped with whipped cream, crushed nuts, and a cherry on top. It's one of those desserts where you lose track of time when you eat it, or at least I did. All of my concentration went toward eating that magnificent ice cream concoction as quickly as possible. I decided to shovel it into my face on the big porch, which overlooks the Buckeye Lake canal. There is also seating indoors, too. Weldon's is a must-visit if you're in the Buckeye Lake area!
