Been here twice and the store is pretty cool as they have everything from souvenirs to all your hike needs. Staff is friendly and well knowledgeable on the hike and other areas in the town. Will be coming here on next visit to stock up on snacks and maybe get infornation on the hike if I decide to do it.

This location is not to be confused with the Whitney Portal Store and Hostel, which is located in town. This is the location for the campground and the entrance to the Mt Whitney trail. This place sells last minute items and gear that you might have forgotten to bring for your backpacking trip, camping, hike or climb. But it is most known for it's pancake breakfast and delicious burger and fries. They do have other menu items as well. The burger ($10.95) comes with a thick patty (well done), lettuce, tomato, and choice of cheese. Even for those who prefer their burger less done, it's not the best burger ever, but it's still tasty. What I liked even more was the generous mound of hand-cut, thin fries. parking - several lots, but it can be very busy during peak times

One thing you normally several thousand feet up the side of a Mountain is a tiny restaurant and souvenir/hiking gear store. ...Nor that they serve the freakiest, most delicious, humongously huge breakfast pancakes anywhere (almost three hands wide!), followed with the tastiest, and portion generous, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and fries. The cook must be making them as they were the last meals you will see in months. My friends were happy they had an actual beer selection. Food apart, they have a heavily packed store for almost any needs, it helps it is halfway up the Mount Whitney's trekking trails, and located near a mini fishing park/rest stop, with beautiful waterfalls and views of the surrounding mountains above and plains below (the city of Lone Pine is visible from here). A great store located in a beautiful place to bring friends and family. Friendly staff a bonus. =) Caveat: This store is completely buried in snow in the Winter season. I found out about it by accident when on my second trip (Spring), a road just appeared out of nowhere in, normally, the highest place you can drive to.

My dried up sausages, my undercooked hash browns (though not the outside, probably high heat), over easy eggs and rye toast.

Giving this place an unfortunate 3 stars, primarily for their breakfast. BE WARNED ABOUT THE PANCAKES! Alright. The pancakes are huge. One serving is the size of my head, nay it's bigger than my head. One pancake can probably feed about 4 people. I was the lucky one in my group that did not order the pancakes. We ended up with 4 stacks of unfinished more-than-slightly-burnt-pancakes. I was lucky and got the hash browns instead. Except my hash browns weren't crispy and did not feel properly cooked. For my meat side I chose the sausage and I got three little patties. I think I should have probably got the ham, it looked more juicy than my dried up over cooked sausages. Overall it was alright. I just wished it was a little better.

Not sure why this comes up with an address close to town, it's actually located at the trail head at the end of Whitney Portal Road. This is the start for the popular Mt Whitney trail. Maybe it's the mountain air and water that makes them taste that much better, but they sure do.

The perfect thing waiting for you after a grueling hike back down Whitney...burgers and beers! Good food, good prices and can you say convenient! Have only had the burger here but have heard the pancakes are delicious too!

Cheeseburger with Bacon and a Lobotomy Bock Beer...excellent

I saw a photo of the burgers here on YELP and had to try one for myself after hiking Cottonwood Lakes. Food is outstanding and you couldn't find a prettier location to eat it. I will be making a side trip to this place whenever I'm passing trough on the 395. Next time I think I will order the double burger, but not sure how I will get my mouth around it. Cheeseburger with fries (excellent) was $8.95 and add $1.75 for the bacon (a must). 4.5 stars for the burger and 5 stars for the location where you are going to consume it.

Best breakfast and amazing staff! This is a must visit! I have only been here the past two years with my boyfriends family but this is definitely a new favorite spot of mine.

The room is small, as expected, but perfect for a solo traveler or couple looking for a clean, comfortable place to shower, cool off, and rest. The AC absolutely cranks, which was heaven after being out in the heat all day. When I checked in, I was greeted with bottled water, fruit, and cookies, such a kind welcome after a long day. There are also cute patios with hanging lights where you can sit and eat takeout, and there's even a homemade ice cream shop right next door with a really vibey outdoor patio. One of the owners mentioned a nearby trail just behind the motel, and I'm so glad I listened. I ended up walking through the beautiful Mary DeDecker native plant garden alongside a babbling creek with little bridges and an incredible sunset view over the mountain ridge. I'm so glad we stayed here. We were two adults and one child and stayed in a private family room with one bed and a bunk bed. The bunk beds have little curtains which our kiddo liked. I didn't totally trust that the barrier on the top bunk was high enough to prevent my kiddo from falling off so I had her sleep in the bottom bunk. The room was small but we knew that and it was enough space for three of us. We loved how it was decorated down to the individually wrapped towels in the bathroom. No TV which I also liked and forced us to hang out together! We were on the second floor and there were comfy rocking chairs on the deck where we sat at night and enjoyed our wine. We were able to borrow the wine glasses in the community kitchen which was very convenient. We also spent time on the couches outside the kitchen and the Adirondack chairs in the yard - just a lot of open places to hang out which was nice. The airstream store is super cute. We didn't get a chance to try their coffee but did buy one of the treats and also some gifts from the gift shop and played yard games in front. Schatt's bakery is next door which was a nice bonus and we grabbed breakfast there in the morning and brought it back. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Walking distance to the bowling alley where we went for a couple hours to play and also get a delicious steak (yes from the bowling alley cafe - no joke!). We'd definitely stay here again when passing through Bishop.
