White & specialty wines (Oct 2023)

Of course you need to stop at a winery while you're out camping. :-) A group of 7 of us visited on a fall afternoon and had a lovely time! There's plenty of outdoor seating among gorgeous gardens or indoor seating if the weather drives you inside. There's a wide variety of wines to choose from with make-your-own and set flights which they'll bring out to your table. I had a glass of Minnesota Summer (raspberry/rhubarb sparkling wine) plus bought a bottle to bring home. All the others in my group had flights that come with six tastings. If you'd like a nibble with your wine, there's a small menu of local cheeses, meats and snacks. Two in my group had the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I'm surprised they didn't pick up the plate to lick it afterwards (although they did mop up the leftover oil with oyster crackers). The service was spot on! There are wood blocks on the table to indicate when you'd like your next tasting poured or to order food. It makes for a very relaxing visit not craning your neck trying to get a server's attention or waiting at a bar for a spot to open up. Tip: bring your wine passport and get $8 off a tasting or glass of wine!

Cute stop for wine! They have a large selection and you can try a flight for $10. They have a very limited menu of local cheeses and meats. Nothing fancy. The view they have there is stunning!

This place is so cool! I'm not really an avid wine drinker, but I went wine tasting here with my older brother and his fiancé after a quick hike and was really pleased. The location is easy to find and has ample parking available outside the business (attached to the family home). The terrace outside is a seat yourself situation and the landscaping is fantastic. I don't usually particularly notice landscaping, but I couldn't help but be impressed by the Martini's design of their yard/terrace. The service was superb and the owner herself checked in with us consistently, but not too much to where it became annoying. The prices are also very affordable with tastes being $1 and a class being $5. I was pretty happy with the taste of the four wines we tasted. My favorites were definitely The Ninth Course (a dessert wine) and their Sangria (The Sangria is so freaking good!). Overall this place is a great find which has been around for seven years (I finally am old enough to go). The atmosphere of this family run business is warm and welcoming which is perfect for a winery.

This place is gorgeous and the wines match the scenery. The port is especially delicious!

It was the worst wine I've ever tasted. I tried 4 reds and the color was unlike any red wine I've seen. It was murky and brown - totally unappetizing. The wine tasted old and very vinegary. I could barely choke it down. I searched for a dump bucket but there was none. I ate as many oyster crackers as I could, just to get the bad taste out of my mouth. I should have gotten 5 tastings with my Wine Passport but I didn't even care. I just wanted to get out of there! I would not recommend this place or their wine.

When I asked to purchase a specific bottle of wine the bartender(?) said, "Here... why don't you taste this other one first?" Then when I said that I would purchase that wine she said, "If you like red wine at all, why don't you try King of the North", and she poured that. Mind you I walked in to purchase a single bottle to consume at the campground and left with three bottles. I just thought that she was (successfully) trying to boost sales. Bottom line... The person who I spoke to was very gracious about explaining the charge and offered to refund the $6 for the tasting. If I were to return to the same winery I would ask for a detailed receipt next time. And perhaps make a stronger attempt to stay within my budget.

We didn't know what to expect, but we went for a tasting and ended up staying for lunch - and I'm so glad we did. The tasting was a minimal $7.50 per person for three wines, and they even gave us a bonus pour of a special wine that was absolutely delicious (we couldn't resist buying a bottle!). We ended up purchasing four bottles total, which earned us our tastings for free plus a 5% discount on the wine - a great deal for such quality selections. Lunch was just as impressive. The salad was fresh and crisp, the meats and cheeses on the charcuterie board were perfectly chilled and flavorful, and the sandwich was fantastic, especially paired with the delicious pasta salad that came with it. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a beautiful rustic feel that made it seem like we had been transported out of Wisconsin and into the European countryside. The entire facility was stunning, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the wine was excellent. Beautiful place, wonderful people, and great wine. We'll definitely be back to sit outside and order pizza and wine. (Note: they do have heaters outside, so even though it was pretty chilly out on November 1, we could still have set outside and enjoyed ourselves.)

My first impression of the property is that it is beautiful. They did a nice job with the property. The outdoor vineyard and wedding area is also quite lovely. The property was clean, restrooms clean, nice outdoor patio for dining. For the wine tasting, our hostess did a nice job explaining the various wines as we moved through the tasting menu. I didn't catch her name but she was very nice. We also briefly met Matt who was also very friendly. I felt the majority of wines were more on the sweet side, however, there were definitely several that leaned dry. I would t necessarily call any of them "full bodied". For Wisconsin wines, these were actually pretty good. The pours were generous compared to pours you may receive when tasting in Napa, Sonoma or Paso Robles so well worth the price. I would recommend stopping in and visiting Villa Belleza!
