This was a special place for me. The D in Ryan D. stands for Danzinger (although there is no relation). How often do you get to review a business that has your name in it. When a business shares your last name, you have to go to check it out. The winery is WAY off the beaten path but is definitely worth the journey. My husband and I wanted to sample some of their wares before buying, so got the sweet wine flight. All of the wines were good but I liked the peach the best. We also ordered the Margherita pizza. This was very good and from a local supplier. After taking a bunch of pictures my husband and I decided that this is a beautiful place for parties or weddings. When your name is on the business you have to buy as much merchandise with your name on it as possible. To my surprise the wine, pizza, and clothing were all much less expensive than I had anticipated. So I stocked up. There is so much to see, do, and taste. I can't recommend Danzinger Vineyards enough! read more

PERFECTION. A must go! You will not regret. Paul and Madison are amazing hands on owners. The main view on a hill looking at the river in the valley has the sunset and to side you see wine vineyards and are so very lovely. The buildings here and lighting are so romantic and photo worthy. We experienced an elegant, laid-back atmosphere and it was all completely remodeled by the new owners to look this way. It's a gorgeous out of California wine country. Definitely wedding worthy venue but lucky people can do a date night or a night out with girlfriends. The wine, experience and apps are definitely a five star experience and two thumbs up! read more

Met up with some family to celebrate a couple birthdays. The view was awesome on the patio but it was cold and windy this weekend to enjoy it for long periods of times. Definitely want to come back in warmer weather to enjoy. They have a couple different flights you can get as well as any wine by the glass or bottle. They also have non-alcoholic options and beer. The staff was helpful in explaining the wines and letting us taste them to narrow the choice down. Cozy indoor seating but it did get pretty loud with the amount of people there. Overall, it was a great Saturday and highly recommend checking the place out. We also peaked around their wedding venue cause the set up is beautiful. read more

Our wedding was the first wedding ceremony and reception hosted on the newly constructed ceremony deck and remodeled reception hall, and the night couldn't have gone more perfect. The owners of Danzinger, Paul and Madison, Where extremely helpful and professional during the planning process and it felt like they had been hosting weddings for years. We had a wedding of 250 people and each event and transition of the night was flawless. Danzinger Vineyards is nestled in the bluffs of western Wisconsin and the sunset was one of the most picturesque moments of our life. First time here. With new COVID responses in place the traditional tasting couldn't be offered. We did taste test the Crescent Moon. We got two glasses of it to drink outside. We bought a bottle of Danzinger Red to take home with us. Tables were spread out on the patio and there were others out in the yard in front of the patio. Additionally, there is an open covered pavilion with tables but probably not as many tables as they would typically have given the need for social distancing. All were full. The patio has an absolutely amazing view of the river valley and it's a shame they don't have umbrellas to make it shadier patio! I would have been game for drinking a whole bottle had it not been for no place to seek shade. We drank our glass and given it was 90 degrees, did not stick around. read more

***Honest Disclaimer of being a wine snob*** I love wine and love trying all wineries, you never know what you'll find! My favorite wines are big bold reds but I'm very open minded to whites and roses and even wines on the sweeter side. With that being said the wines here were okay. I wasn't really compelled enough to buy a bottle. They offer a little bit of everything, reds, whites and both sweet and dry. We did decide to get a glass of red wine to go out and enjoy on their patio which was well worth the drive, the view is gorgeous! The staff were very nice and accommodating with all the new COVID restrictions. We have friends/family that would enjoy the outdoor ambiance of the winery and the prices so I do anticipate coming back. read more

Danzinger Winery falls into the category of a lot of rolling hills-Midwest-wineries. They're a good place to spend an hour, but not necessarily because the wine is particularly good. I was pleased to find that they had some drier red and white wines (that are actually dry, as opposed to most wineries like it that only have sweet and very sweet wines). Their patio is nice, although the view isn't particularly great -- the hillside facing the lake looks over a steel roof storage facility. If you're passing through the area, and need a place to stretch your legs and relax, this place might be worth a drive up the hill to visit. read more

The greeting when we came in was very warm and friendly. The view of the hills is breathtaking. The flights we sampled were good but there did I not seem to be all too much variety in the flavoring. However, the Sangria was great and very enjoyable. read more

Amazing vineyard with incredible wines. The staff is awesome to work with and very knowledgeable as you navigate your way through a sampling. There are incredible views here as well as the vineyard sits on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. My wife and I enjoyed a bottle of wine after our sampling on the back patio and it was incredible. We have been back several times and can't wait to visit again. read more

Located in the bluffs, this place is beautiful! It's a wonderful drive up the vineyard and even though it was cloudy, it still made you stop and appreciate the world around you. Danzinger does not import any grapes so they are very true to being local. The wine tasting is free if you only want to do a few or you can do the whole list for a small fee. We ended up doing the whole list and they were very generous in their sample pours! Since they do not import any grapes, most of their wines are on the sweeter side. I'm not a huge fan of sweet wine so I was a little bummed and my stomach started to hurt by the time we got to the end. However, if you like sweet, than you might love some of the wines from this vineyard. They do switch up the tasting menu. The shop Is pretty much to walk through. Even though i didn't love any of the wines enough to buy a bottle of, I did walk away with some fun coasters that I love so thank you! read more

Stopped in at this winery for a free three wine tasting. There is a beautiful view I. The back over looking the river. A small store, but the hostess was very informative of all the wines and what food goes with what wine the best. I ended up taking home two bottles of the King Cranberry. Had a delicious slight cranberry taste with a hint of cinnamon. A great holiday wine! read more

I have been coming to Alma, Wisconsin to visit family since I was little and I have to say that the addition of Danzinger's has brought even more charm to this beautiful town, which I didn't even think was possible! Danzinger's has a wide variety of wines available for purchase and for tasting and has a wine to satisfy everybody's tastes. Whether you prefer dry red or white wines, or their deliciously sweet ice wines, they have you covered (although they do run out of the ice wines quickly so make sure and get some as soon as it becomes available)! The location is beautiful, sitting on top of a bluff that overlooks the Mississippi River. There is a gorgeous patio where you can sit outside and enjoy the view, as well as occasional live music. If you're planning on visiting Alma (or just passing through) anytime soon, definitely add Danzinger's to your itinerary. read more

3.5 The wine itself deserves a 5/5 - there's a big selection of wines with locally-grown grapes (they grow right across the street) or with fruit wines for which they source in the berries (a not uncommon practice). The dry wines are dry, the sweet wines are sweet, and there's good balance and flavor to much of their selection. The tasting is very reasonable (four for free, otherwise a nominal fee for the rest). The bottles are also reasonably priced. The setting is, as other reviewers have mentioned, gorgeous atop the bluffs. Why the 3.5/5? The biggest reason is the lack of pet-friendliness. I understand that dogs can be a nuisance and run into things, knock stuff over, pee, fight, etc. if not carefully watched by their owners. However, given you are a small vineyard in the middle of nowhere (Alma, WI is not in itself on anyone's bucketlist of places to visit) some understanding of that truth would be nice. Perhaps a rule saying dogs must be leashed and within arm's reach, you get one warning for your dog being inappropriately behaved, etc etc. To each company their own, but rather than stay and enjoy (and spend much more money), we left the pup in the car for about five minutes to buy a couple bottles and left. read more

The venue is incredible. The view is second to none. the property is stunning. No question. But let me share my experience with their staff and wines on July 3rd. My wife and I arrived on motorcycle and were attired as such (jeans, t-shirts, doo rags, and boots). There were three other couples at the tasting bar and the staff consisted of one gentleman (I believe one of the Danzingers) and two ladies (only one of which could use the checkout system, important later in the story). When we arrived there was one couple tasting for each team member. Neither of the ladies would budge from their potential sales to assist us, and the gentleman was having a great side conversation with the couple in front of him that had nothing to do with wine or the vineyard. He continued this side conversation (through several pauses) and when they had completed their conversation he came over to us and provided us a couple of pamphlets that showed the tasting options, then he walked away. The complimentary tastings were all sweet whites or rose'. If you wanted to taste the better varieties it was going to cost you from $3 - $5 per flight (5 samples per flight). He then walked away from us and picked up the side conversation with the first couple. When he came back we had opted for the complementary flight. One of the five struck our fancy for a cheap table wine for our regular meals (the rose'). Our samples were about 1/2 to 3/4 of in inch in the bottom of the glass. During our tasting it was evident that the "bikers" were not very well appreciated at Danzinger Vinyards as the gentleman helping us would frequently walk away from us (sometimes even mid-sentence and mid-pour) to help another customer who had just bellied up to the tasting bar. At one point he poured a sample for me and then walked away leaving my wife's glass empty, even though she had requested the same wine to sample. He was gone several minutes as he assisted them and when time and conversation would allow he would return, we'd refresh him as to what he had been pouring for us and then he would go away to what I can only surmise as his idea of more fertile, and better dressed, ground. He provided free samples of the better grade wines to several other couples, but did not do so for us, even when we inquired about several of the drier reds. We decided to purchase a bottle of the rose to try at home. When we approached the bar with our purchase there was one other couple there with a purchase. While we waited for the ONE person who could use the point-of-sale system to check them out three other people appeared with purchases (two of which he had gone and gotten for the customers after their tasting). The gentleman directed the checkout person to each of the other couples leaving us for last. We had no less of a purchase than the other three people, so I can only guess that a value decision based on our attire and mode of transportation was being made. My only conclusion is that bikers are not valued at Danzinger Vinyards and they would appreciate you not stopping by...message received Mr. Danzinger; we won't bother you again. We'll also be letting our biker friends know. Always sad when people are misjudged based on appearances and misperceived "value" as a customer. We climbed on our expensive motorcycle and drove to the next winery on the tour. I'd suggest you do the same if you're motorcycling...but feel free to stop by if you're driving a BMW and are wearing your Ray-Ban's or Coco Channel's with your designer casual clothing. You'll be well taken care of. read more

We had a great time here. Everyone was very friendly and positive. The view is spectacular, and many choices of wine to try. They also have beer for those that don't care for wine. We also had the spinach dip with pita bread...yum. If you are traveling through Alma, make it a stretch your legs kind of stop. I think you will enjoy yourself. read more
