However, before you even start the course, there is a safety and how to tutorial on what to do and what not to do. Then after that you climb a 70 foot tower and begin your tour. I can tell you that if you're afraid of heights then this might not be for you because the first platform not only is high off the ground but the platform is very shaky and you may have 10 or 16 people all huddled together. You have to have nerves of steel. We chose to do the Bootleg Tour which is 5 zip lines and each one is unique in scenery, difficulty and experience. The guides do a wonderful job of making this the most enjoyable experience for you and we really appreciated that. Make sure that you listen to all of their instructions or you will be in a compromising position and fortunately we didn't experience that in our group. Overall, this zip line experience far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommended Canaan Zip Line for a date or family outing, or just to experience something new. The staff is wonderful, professional and friendly and the price of admission is worth it.

The employee delivering the boat had me go with him on the boat to top off the fuel tank. Thinking it was normal, I had my 15 year old son come with me. Upon entering the boat, your employee was drinking a hard seltzer, maybe Mike's hard lemonade. He was kind enough to offer me and my 15 year old son a cocktail for the ride. We declined. After topping off the tank, the battery required jumping while still at the fuel dock. Your Employee advised it's okay, I'll give you a jump box and an extra battery. He explained that this boat gave the prior renters some issue but it was fine (perhaps it wasn't mechanically sound for rental). While taking an extended trip back to the rental home (most likely to charge the battery?), the boat died and we were stranded requiring a Tow vendor. During our time waiting for the tow service, your employee enjoyed several cocktails. In an attempt to provide exceptional customer service, we were given a "premium" pontoon for the remainder of our contract. The premium pontoon was not in fact premium, made a constant loud shuttering sound at idle and at no wake speeds. We eventually made it back to our rental at 4PM. We made the best of the trip and used the "premium" boat on Sunday. Needless to say, I am challenged to found a logical explanation why I was charged for 2 days of rental considering the circumstances. This was a short vacation to celebrate Father's day and my wife's Birthday and the events that occurred on Saturday were unfortunate but I only expected to pay for Sunday in light of the events. Please consider refund as the service provided was not as expected. Thank you

I'm sure the time of year and time of day played a role in that. We parked at New Hope Road to start the trail there. The trail goes through the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden property (not the part you have to pay to get into), so you could park and start there as well. It's a 4.6 mile loop which is a decent length for a Charlotte trail. It's pretty flat and easy. There are some nice views of Lake Wylie along the way. I definitely recommend coming in the morning. It was really calm and peaceful on the lake with no one else around.

There is plenty of shade on this trail with small hills in between and beautiful trails along the lake. The trail is marked and it's a pretty clear path so you know where your going. I came across this trail through the "AllTrails" app that had all the details correct except you cannot go all the way around the trial. On the app it is a circle - whereas when you actually go - you hike all the way to one end and then come back the same way. There are plenty water holes for dogs to cool off in the lake from the heat. There are also places along the lake to put out a chair and enjoy the view. Most if not all the patrons on trail were very friendly; there is also a small parking lot that offered enough space for cars to park (we came on a Saturday; this trail was never full). Great place - I highly recommend!

There are six large campsites with fire rings and grills, but there were other camping areas as well. We had enough people for this weekend of camping (about 200) that we rented the entire island. OMG! It was such a nice venue. There is a pavilion with an enclosed area for preparing food with kitchen, sinks, etc., along with many (I didn't count!) picnic tables on the cement slab under the covered area for serving dinner and for gatherings. There are also four actual large bathrooms which I wasn't expecting. We rented addtnl port-o-potties but we really didn't need them. Better safe than sorry! We had a DJ setup under the shelter and it became a stage with spectator area at night for entertainment. There is a nice sand volleyball court next to the pavilion if the island and lake don't offer enough entertainment and exercise. Don't miss out on the floating dock that goes out into the lake. We brought floats and hung out there during the day. There are two large parking areas at the head of the island, but plan to walk alot and carry your stuff a good distance.
