We are new to the area and actually in the market to buy a boat. I thought what a perfect way to check out the waterway and give my dad a great day. Unfortunately upon checking in at the marina for my online booking, I was told our boat had no gas (fuel is included with rental fyi), something this marina does not have available for its patrons. I would think there are daily protocols to ensure all boats are ready for the next day of rentals. But alas, we were left without a pontoon. I was told by the lady that someone would be reaching out to correct and make it right, but it's been a week and nothing. I think they also could've brought another boat down from their other marina or gas to at least get us to a marina to fill up properly. (Literally a gas station a mile away) They told me maybe two hours to get some gas, but our day was already scheduled out due to flights and such. I don't appreciate poor service, especially when this could've been avoided entirely. I did receive a full refund, but that doesn't cover my dad's disappointment. And while I prefer to support locally, I think I need to explore other marinas.

Not being a real outdoorsy person, and only having whitewater rafted once, I felt the $89 day pass was very reasonable. I arrived at the USNWC at open time, and paid $13 for parking. Once parked, I lined up at the Outfitters center to sign up for activities. It was already busy, so I was probably in line for about 20 minutes to get my spot for whitewater rafting. They make it sound like you can only do whitewater rafting once, but after speaking to my guide, you can only have one reservation at a time. Once you finish you trip, you can immediately sign up again if there are spots. As I was there relatively early, I was schedule for a 10am rafting start, which gave me plenty of time to walk around the check out the area before getting to rafting. My general thoughts: - Whitewater rafting was terrific. It was the main focus of my visit, and completely made my day pass worth it. My guide was fun and informative. The conveyer belt bringing the raft back up was operational while I did it, but later in the day, it looked like the conveyer was out of service, so everyone had to carry the rafts back up, which is quite a bit of extra work. Between the heat and extra carrying, I decided not to go back, otherwise I would have. - The bin storage service made it easy to rent a bin to store my gear. It often had lines, so I would recommend minimize the number of times you need to access it. You can access as many times as you want. - I did the kayaking at the flatwater area. It was a much more relaxing area that you can go at your own-pace. - The ziplines were a bit disappointing, unless you pay extra for the longer lines. The lines that don't require reservations are very short, and frankly, not worth doing unless it's your first time trying it. - Most of the rock climbing areas were closed off, and the few areas open was packed with small children. So I decided not to try it. - Because by late day, it was getting uncomfortably hot, so i decided not to do the rope courses, but they looked pretty good. - Entry to the area is free, so a good number of visitors hang out just to have picnics and watch. Overall, I enjoyed my visit, only because of the whitewater rafting. It's much more affordable then what I could do back at home. The ziplines are good for first timers. Ropes courses looked good, and flatwater activities are nice to move at a more relaxed pace. I can see why it's a popular place.

Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond. We could not recommend them more highly.

Unprofessional....... I have been an avid boater for years, in and out of marinas and Terrys…read more.. well it's very SPECIAL - when it comes to storing your boat and customer relationship. The first impression I got when I was inquiring with Terry's about storage was they had about 60 slips open.. that set off some warning bells in my mind. Why are so many slips open? Well after digging, I see why, you are spending avg $2,500 a year to dry dock your boat, and it's not available year round.....it's closed Nov-March (we have warm winters you know, you can take a boat out, last Dec 2016 was 68 degrees out) .. (They said it's an $45 fee to get it down during those months) UNACCEPTABLE, for price I am paying.. also there is a $5 fee to get it down each time.... no other marina in charlotte does this. Tracking - No tracking system, every single dry dock marina they put a number on your boat so they can track it. Not at Terry's, I asked about this, they said, well the fork lift driver knows all the boats and your name, he's been doing it 40 years, so just call with your name and color of boat and he will get it down. I said what if he is sick... they were speechless. Terry's - Invest in a computer and inventory stickers that match the racks your boats go in. I call you with last-name and boat # Clutter... Oh...... the clutter. The dry storage building was horribly unclean, with old oil cans, rags, debris. Even when driving up to Terry's there is debris everywhere, rusted old docks, metal, old foam and just not good. Signage old, paint old, buildings not maintained. When answering phones, not professional menu or answered each time with just "hello" (I have to ask is this Terry's?) How about simply answer the phone "Terrys Marina, how can I help you"... Or a menu system, with information and dial caller... this would be 100x more professional. While I know they are trying, this is far from a place you want to park a new $50k boat. May be a jon boat. But... Feedback to make this place SHIP SHAPE: 1) CLUTTER - clean our the clutter 2) rebrand, repaint, hire professional staff 3) make your boat available year round, stop charging extra fees like $5 forklift fees 4) open a marine store 5) an fix up their docks (the fork lift dock is incredible, never seen anything like it.. wobbles and is a mess). 6) Get a phone system with directory 7) Offer fuel I would advise the staff there to PLEASE go visit your competitors... visit Marine Max across the street or Morning Star Marinas, now that's a marina. Plus a couple more tanks of fuel running around to other islands. used Pro Outboard in Lake Wylie two years ago to do service on my 200 opti, and some trim issues and bilge pump before the trip. They did a fantastic job. Boat ran best ever, they found two of the coils marginal and replaced, water pump etc serviced. Boat has run great since - 2 years. Taking back in next week for routine service. I have had boats for last 25 years, whalers, Jupiter, edge water and sea craft, plus a couple bigger twin diesel boats. First time I have ever had a engine mechanic get the job right, price was fair, work thorough. Because My sea craft is a single engine merc opti, always do the Bahamas crossing with another boat, but I put my full faith in Pro Outboard and would again. Hope to take another trip to Bahamas this summer 2016 ! There is a review below that calls Pro Outboard "ignorant and arrogant". I disagree, poor choice of words. HONEST is a much better description. Maybe not what some people wanted to hear...

The Yamaha was not "taking to" the Simrad so that I could not get fuel level, hours and other more technical info on the Simrad. New Hope had my boat for 26 days while they allegedly completed multiple tests and switched out different components. They could not fix it and claimed it was really surprising that they couldn't locate the issue, etc. Finally, they told me they were waiting on instruction from Bennington but closing for about 10 days and I picked the boat up. I had a mobile mechanic come out the next day to my dock. He took less than 10 minutes to diagnose the problem AND fix it. It was a broken plastic $2.00 connector that was readily observable under the helm. I have no idea what New Hope was doing for the time they had my boat but NEVER again.
