iFly - Concord - IFly Wind Tunnel! - Skydiving Near Me - Concord, North Carolina

We did the iFly experience on New Year, January 1st, and we had a blast as a family. It was such a fun activity for us. We got to experience skydiving; flying indoor in the tunnel and it was very short (2 minutes flying experience and each person got to fly twice) The place was clean, the staffs were friendly, our instructor, Braxton, was helpful and was able to answer our concerns and questions. We loved it so much we decided to take advantage of their promotion package price after our first flight experience. We'll be back! read more

Fun place to sky dive! Great instructors! They were so helpful and made a great experience sky diving! We upgraded to the better helmet and free pictures. The helmet was nice, but getting the pictures and videos was not convenient, you have to choose everything and purchase, then they email you the information later. read more

This was an amazing experience! The instructors are knowledgeable in what they do and they have fun with it as well! You can tell that they enjoy what they do. I'll definitely come back here when I'm in town, I'd like to become more proficient in the air. read more

Completely unresponsive to multiple calls regarding concerns. Go to Paraclete in Raeford for a much better experience!

Such an amazing first time experience! Came here to celebrate the BFs bday on July 4th and definitely one to remember! It can be a bit intimidating at first, but once you do your first flight, it can get addicting! I booked online. Each person gets a minimum of two flights in a package. You can definitely buy more if you prefer. After your first visit, you get a certificate, which allows you to do more "difficult" stunts/tricks the next time you visit. You get instructions from an instructor before you suit up and put all your gear on. All from how you hold your hands and feet with all the signals and cues. You even can get pics and videos of your flight experience on their website after. I suggest also adding the "high" fly to your visit as well. Thank me later read more

iFly - Concord - First time! - Skydiving Near Me - Concord, North Carolina

This was an experience. I love heights, roller coasters and climbing. I have always wanted to actually skydive, so this could have been considered "baby steps." The actual occurrence was way more difficult than I thought it would be, and a lot less fun. When you come in, prepare to step on a scale... They need to know your weight for technical reasons, but that wasn't a good start for me. Only the check-in attendant sees your weight, but still. Then after a long wait we went into a classroom environment. There were five hand signals that you needed to know. As well as a short video you were required to watch. This was followed by a "suiting up" process where you are given what looks like a penitentiary jumpsuit, earplugs, a stocking cap and a helmet. Then you need to lock your personal items away... And then, finally a very long wait time in an airlocked glass chamber. During our wait the instructor yelled in my general direction "if you are not smiling, I will kick you out of here!" Power trip much? If I wanted to be yelled at for hundreds of dollars... There are particular adult places for that. Not my thing, so I didn't appreciate that. I am rather shy, so I was not thrilled that there were spectators for what I knew wasn't going to be a flattering showing for me. And it wasn't. Clad in my gray jail jumpsuit I looked like a physically challenged, clumsy, flying squirrel up there. Still the "flying" was a novel experience but very strenuous. Attempting to keep my body straight while in the air was something I wasn't prepared for. Also, we were told to "relax, but stay perfectly still." At the end of the session we were presented with certificates. A nice touch. As we were leaving we were offered additional return trips at a discounted price costs, but you had to purchase them right then and there. We didn't opt for them because we hadn't properly processed the entire experience yet. We were still reeling from adrenaline and unsure how we felt about it yet. We also don't tend to respond to pressure to decide on the spot. We had already spent close to $300 on the expedition. So three days later... We are dealing with excruciating back pain, from holding our bodies in a form that it wasn't used to in an unnatural environment. Based on the instructions, constant coaching during the sessions and the threat... The business model seems focused on getting repeat visitors. Offering skills and a basic understanding of the sport, rather than maximizing participant experience by making sure that they have an enormous amount of fun the first time. In the end, we got pictures and a video of us soaring through the air and a chance to do so, which is not a thing most of us do every day. So I will end this as I began... It was an experience. read more

It's disheartening when you make reservations 4 months ago to show up and they won't honor the package that was purchased at another Ifly, after letting them know what we purchased, where we purchased, and how we divided the time down amongst 3 flyers. The front desk clerk was nothing but a human shell with blonde hair and attitude. The manager was not worth even dealing with. We will never be back. We will continue to go to the Ifly in Jacksonville, and we will have our family and friends from the Charlotte NC area meet us in Jacksonville from now on. The instructors were amazing with the other two people we had in our group, but 3 teens that have been going to the Ifly in Jacksonville for a few years now weren't able to fly. read more

Great experience and fabulous staff!!! We were looking to try this activity out since we saw the ad on IG when it was being built a year ago. Finally had a Saturday free and reserved two spots for the kids. The reservation and check-in were simple. The staff on the phone and at the desk are awesome and patient. The process of getting fitter and trained were smooth. We opted for the upgraded helmet and they were so on top of everything we reserved. The observation area is well thought out and cozy. Plenty of seating and not a bad view in the place. We loved the instructors being patient w/ our kids and ensuring they had a blast. The stunts and high flying demo done at the end were amazing! Can't wait to come back and have the whole family fly with Jake T and iFly!!!! read more

IFly is so much fun! It was a great experience. We went to the iFly in Atlanta and wanted to try it again. This location is much smaller than the Atlanta one. While our experience in Atlanta was great, it was so fast paced. I think that's because it was so busy. The entire experience felt rushed. We didn't feel rushed one time in Charlotte. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our package. We opted only to upgrade the helmets because we wanted the visor instead of regular goggles. We were early so we had to wait for our group's turn. When it was time, our instructor introduced himself. We got our gear. They offer lockers -- you have to put all personal items in the lockers. Then we went to a classroom to watch a tutorial. Our group went into the tunnel. When we purchased our session, we chose a higher flight. The higher flight is always done on your second turn. I definitely would recommend it! It's so much fun! At first, it's scary then it just feels crazy. Afterwards, they give you time to take pictures in your gear before turning it in. Then you receive a certificate. You can purchase pictures and videos from the session, which are posted on their website. Masks are required. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would definitely return! read more

We had a fun group date night at iFly! The instructions, instructor, and flight was amazing. I was super nervous, but, if you are a beginner, you don't have to go high up. The instructor held onto me the entire time. The facility is clean and you get to put your things in a locker. The only wish I had is that it didn't cost $90 for a two minute flight. read more

You've got to do this at least once in your lifetime. I took my husband here for a Valentine's Day outing. When booking, you reserve a time slot. Upon arrival, you check in and sit in the main lobby where you can watch people flying. At your scheduled time, you put your flight suit over your clothes, being sure to take off ALL jewelry. They have lockers for you to lock up your belongings. If there's a ring that won't come off or in my case, that you're Not taking off they'll loan you a glove. Because the wind speeds vary between 100-175mph anything not tied down is susceptible to be blown off. You'll be grouped with other people (around 10 total) and taken to a room where you're given instructions. Our instructor was Boo. He was totally rad, with thousands of hours of indoor skydiving time and hundreds of hours of skydiving time. He did a great job addressing any concerns that people may have. Because the wind tunnel is so loud, it's important to learn the sign language that will be used while you're flying. Finally, you go out to the wind tunnel with your group and you're put in the wind tunnel one at a time for an experience you will remember forever. It's a good team building exercise and a cool feeling. The actual flights are a minute or two, but that's enough time. I would suggest getting at least 2 flights and upgrading to the high fly. They offer significantly discounted flights if you want to return. They have party rooms, so you can have parties here. Needless to say, we'll be returning one day. Tip: IF you can bring someone who does't want to fly to take pictures, that'd be great. Our pictures from the business were "Okay". read more

This is a very unique experience for all ages from 3 years old to as old as you can be. For a mom of a teenager, it was worth the drive and cost to make a great memory with my 16 year old son. There aren't a lot of things we do together. We joined a group of active seniors from Cabarras County. I Fly offers great group rates for parks and recreation groups, especially when offering multiple trips. Many in our group were flying for their second time. Upon arrival the flight instructors performed spectacular airborne acrobatics. Just know you are not going to be able to master that on your first visit. I recommend doing at least two flights on your first day as you will progress and be able to fly higher. You'll have clear instructions delivered by your experienced and patient flight instructor prior to flying. All it takes is following directions and floating like you're in water. All equipment is provided. No jewelry. If you want to keep on your wedding ring etc you'll be given gloves. You can wear your glasses if you need them, your goggles will cover them. Shoes should be closed toe and secure on your feet. They can't have stuff flying off. Safety is practiced before all else. Parties can be scheduled here in side rooms. There is also a weeklong flight school and guess who wants to do that? My son! read more

The "upgraded" package that they hard sell at the door is total bs. My kid would have been fine with the regular goggles -even with glasses. The videos and photos are no better than I took with my phone. The purchased photos and videos are not easy to access and when you do, they don't go I to your photos, rather into downloadable content. I'm still trying to figure out how to share. Also, you do t get all the photos or videos. I paid for 4 photos and 4 videos and got only 3 videos but they took 7 photos. All of which I am the only person that can look at them. I recommend 4 flights and a high flight. No other add ons. read more

My wife planned this activity for us to try during her birthday month. From standing on the outside of the building you can tell your are in for a treat. Upon arrival we are checked in and weighted. Yes, weighted to ensure you don't exceed the limits for flying. After that we checked in a small room and handed our jumpsuits to go through the drill and understand hand signals when in the air chamber. It seems easier than it looks but it's not that easy. You're impaired in a small group of maybe four others on this date we had two other couples and the mother and daughter and boy was it fun you're sealed into the tube chamber as one person goes at a time immediately you're thrust into the air having to remember all of those hand signals moving your arms legs head up. But it is a true adrenaline feed once you get the hang of it you're able to balance and turn on your own. I would highly suggest paying extra to go higher and also capturing a photo and video for the moment. After going a few times it is addictive and I can see myself paying for a membership to this place it is fun the employees are professional and patient while you learn the trick to flight. read more

My family and I came here during the Black Friday promotion and had a blast. I can't lie, at first I said there is no way. But my sister had an extra pass so I said why not. I made my nephews go first because I am not a fan of heights. When I saw them smile though, it didn't help much at all because how was I going to let a 6 & 8 yr old show me up. Our instructor was hilarious and awesome. I wish I remembered his name. But he put everyone at ease and was the best. So much that when it was my turn, I trust fell into the tube with no problems and ended up having the time of my life. After it was over, when our instructor asked what we thought a gentlemen said it was harder than he thought and I agreed. But kids have a way of making you feel a way when they shouted to the stranger no it was easy! It took everything in me to pretend that I didn't agree with him. Thanks for the wonderful experience! Can't wait to come back again soon! read more

This was an amazing experience. My boyfriend surprised me with this gift for my birthday this year. We got there and you have to sign a waiver. Then they call your group with the time class you ordered for. They provide you with the gear needed for the flight. They provide a helmet the jumpsuit, goggles and shoes if needed. They put your group in a class to watch a 10 minute video on safety and the hand signals you need to know. They after the video is over the instructor will go over the hand signals again and test you on them. You then enter the wind tunnel. The winds go about 150mph and you feel it! The instructor takes each person in the tunnel one by one and holds on to the person to make the person comfortable. They will use hand signals to try to get your body in the right position needed for you to fly high and get comfortable. The time goes back quickly. When I was in the tunnel I found it intense and I was just trying to figure out the best way to breathe with all of the wind in my face. It was a great experience and I will go again. I was able to do two flight which was worth it because the first time you go in you are trying to figure out how this works and then the second time you are trying to get comfortable. The more you go the better you will be. But if you haven't done this I would definitely say try it because it's a great experience. I enjoyed this because the instructor had control the whole time and if I wasn't doing something correctly they instructed me on how to correct my form in the wind tunnel. I will definitely go again and I will bring a group with me. We had a variety of age groups in my group we varied from age 8-40 yrs old. The youngest you can do it I believe is 3 and there were some you kids there in another group at that age. I loved doing this and I will be going again! read more

My boyfriend purchased a special package for the two of us for two flights, we were unable to make the initial reservation and were able to reschedule it. After calling the second time the front desk staff was disorganized, accidentally hung up on me twice, put me on hold and forgot about me, and when they finally got back on the phone - our package was only available to use on the weekdays. No where was this written in fine print, a quick email with change in policies would've sufficed. The girl manager was snooty and was not about communication and suggestions, very much quick to say no and hang the phone up. After finally making a reservation for a week day (weeks later since people work and this was not mentioned in the initial purchase or we wouldn't of done it), the lady on the phone said our package actually was not able to be used anymore. No where are these things written and actually when the rude lady manager hung up, the gentleman that answered (very pleasant) let me know that he wasn't aware of any changes and that he would be happy to schedule us. Needless to say we never showed because the weekday ended up not working but we weren't upset about losing the money because the customer service was an absolute 0. That is enough for us not to visit. read more

Im new to the Charlotte area and I wanted to find something new to do. I always wanted to sky dive and the simulation here was an amazing. Great start!. We were given ear plugs helmets. It's a good idea to choose the helmet with the wind guard and not just the googles. My family and I chose to each take four flights. It's good to take at least two because the first one will be just getting the feel for it. Kaleb was our instructor. He made my family feel at ease and he was very warm and informative. Great customer service was provided by all the staff. I would visit again. read more

This place offers an amazing experience and while it's not something I'd go do every weekend I'm certainly glad I gave it a try. In the months before iFly opened you could see the enormous, unique architecture being built from I-85. The interesting shape is to allow for the massive fans inside the facility that power the wind tunnel. Its quite a sight. Once you walk in there is a counter with several touch screens used for checking in. Make sure you've made your reservations and signed your safety waiver online ahead of time to assure a smooth process. Once they've confirmed your reservation they'll weigh you (there is a 300lb weight limit) and give you a wristband to indicate your flight time. Then you go into the main room and wait to be called up. The main room is open so that guests and waiting flyers can all watch as others take their turn in the wind tunnel. We only waited a few minutes before our flight instructor called our time and a group of 8 or so gathered up. We were all given appropriately sized flight suits, put them on over our regular clothes, and then filed into a classroom off to the side. In about 15 minutes we watched a summary video of what to expect and our instructor went over some important hand signals you need to know while in the tunnel (it's too loud to hear). After our prep we went back to the main room and got ear plugs for noise, as well as helmet and goggles for safety. I think I probably could have gone up a size on the helmet, but I'll come back to that. Flight time! Once everyone is secured and ready the group files into a clear windowed chamber attached to the main wind tunnel. Theres a large bench and essentially everyone sits and one by one the instructor takes you in for your 60 second flight, everyone rotates through and then takes everyone on a second 60 second flight, this time with an instructor assisted "high fly" at the end. My trip through the tunnel went pretty well. With the ear plugs in isn't much louder than riding down the highway with the windows down, but the force is pretty crazy. The instructor kind of has to help you get horizontal initially because the wind is so intense its pushing you into a standing position. It's also a tricky thing to maintain a perfect posture for the air to keep you up. You have to be relaxed enough to both enjoy yourself and be able to follow the hand signals, but also aware enough to maintain your straight leg, arms outstretched, chin up ideal flight form. As someone who had a little trouble rolling on the first flight, try to focus on keeping your hips and legs level and it'll make your life easier. The "high flight" I mentioned earlier is a brief glimpse into what a more trained flyer can do. Your instructor grabs onto you and they amp up the wind and you start to spin and up you go. For the majority of your fly time you're maybe 4 ft off the ground but the high fly launches you up closer to 20 ft. Its pretty crazy to be honest. I know it's not quite a real sky dive, but its certainly a great way to get a taste. I have to mention one unfortunate mar on my experience though. I dont know if it was the helmet being too small or the goggles too tight but I was having some severe discomfort in the back of my neck in between flights. I was given a Large helmet even though I thought an XL might be better, but at the time of trying it on it didn't bother me so I didn't think much of it. That could have been it, too tight a helmet. Also could have been the goggles. Again, not really uncomfortable at first but by the end of the experience I had red lines on my face that didn't go away completely until almost 8 hours later. After the first flight I noticed some discomfort but in the 10 or so minutes in between my first and second flight it was full blown "something is wrong" neck pain. I almost tapped on the glass to ask to get out so I could take it off but I pushed through it. (Also I dont think it was the wind tunnel itself as I felt instant relief after taking the helmet/goggles off.) Now none of that last part sounds pleasant right? So why am I still giving this a 4/5 stars? Well despite all that trouble if I had known ahead of time I would have asked for the alternative full face helmets. Those don't require you to wear goggles (enclosed) and the back of the helmet is much higher so it doesnt press into your neck while your chin is up during flight. I dont know why they dont just use those helmets for everyone all the time but I suppose I don't own a wind tunnel. Despite my personal problems I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an incorrect helmet size. I still had fun. If you want to give them a try I would encourage you to do so, just be very sure that all your safety equipment is comfortably situated before you actually fly. read more

We heard this place was opening soon and had to check it out. We made a reservation online and got there a few minutes early to check in and get weighed. After that we got our wristbands and made our way to the main area where the wind tunnel is. Once the group had all arrived for our time slot we got suited up and went into the classroom to watch a quick instructional video, followed by a few words from the instructor. After we were briefed we made our way to the wind tunnel to take our turns flying. The instructor was very friendly and eager to help us, he was close by the entire time to make sure we were safe and having a good time. This was our first time there and it was amazing, we finished our flights and afterwards we got our certificates and got a voucher for a return visit at a highly discounted rate. This is the type of thing you will want to do more than once, and just like anything else, the more you do it, the better you get. After our group finished, the instructor went in alone and showed us what a pro is able to do in there, and it was nothing short of amazing! Can't wait to go back and get better. read more
