Desert Empire Palms - A diamond cut date palm hovers before getting placed in the last hole of the job. This Palm Springs house ended up looking great.

Lately we have been helping clients evaluate their landscapes after the firestorm. It is particularly difficult to assess mature trees and I was unable to get help from other arborists or even ISA. In this case, a burned out family returned to their lot to find that a neighbor had cut to the ground a healthy, unburned 26' tall Canary Island Palm. He wanted to improve his view and took the only live tree left on this family's land. Thanks to Desert Empire and some helpful formulas and other useful information regarding specimen palms, we are able to provide a value for this tree for the family's lawsuit. Thank you again Desert Empire Palms for a fast and expedient communication process !

The job had already been inspected a few months back, installation holes dug and the rains would not stop. We had to wait for several weeks with the installation holes covered with plywood waiting. When the rains did subside I was getting calls from everyone holding a gun to my head asking me "where are our palms" ? In normal cases time is NOT of the essence, but I have to say, one call to Matt over at Desert Empire Palms and I soon found out I had nothing to worry about. We were able to discuss my job requirements in detail and and length by phone and Matt is beyond what I expected, his knowledge about what his end entailed with the palms [he loves palm trees] and his knowledge of even what was required on my end of the job was hard to believe. He was able to send me photos of the exact 20+ palms I needed for this big job and I was able to easily pay for them and have them delivered within three days. All of the diamond cut Phoenix Medjool palms look awesome in their new home now, and Matt has done excellent follow up on all of our aftercare questions and concerns. You will not go wrong buying your palms from Matt from Desert Empire's palms. PS: The lady that wrote the ONLY bad review above this one was no doubt "bsy with her head in her lap texting" and "speeding" in the slow lane on a desert road and did not see Matt make a right turn [legal in California] on a red light. All she had to do is see him pull out and casually change lanes to the fast lane and then back. Instead she has to "slam" on her brakes spilling her cocktail to the dashboard lol Why is it on a sunny day on a desert highway the lady "all of the sudden" see's him pull onto the highway on his way to perform work?.......

The key ingredients of success for Colmac Energy Inc., operator of a 47 megawatt (MW) net…read morebiomass-fueled facility in the Coachella Valley of Riverside County, Calif., are the constant supply of quality landfill-diverted wood waste and the highest quality processing equipment. The plant, which has been in continuous operation since 1992, consumes approximately 325,000 tons per year of wood waste, landscape and right-of-way tree trimmings, broken pallets and used boxes. The company will accept construction waste, but no treated wood or painted materials. About 12 percent of the plant's fuel (40,000 tons per year) consists of locally collected agricultural residues that would otherwise have been disposed of by burning in open fields. And because of Colmac's plant, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are able to meet their state mandated recycling standard (AB939). Unlike companies that convert trash into power, Colmac processes only biomass material. Sixty to 80 trucks arrive at the facility each day coming in from a 200- to 250-mile radius, from east of Phoenix to south of Los Angeles. The trucks discharge up to 25 tons of biomass every five minutes. Upon arrival, the biomass material passes through separators that take out any ferrous materials, after which it is deposited into the first holding cell of a two-cell system. From that holding cell, it is transferred to an operating cell, from which it is broken down by grinding equipment prior to being fed into the boilers. No biomass fuel stays on site for more that 30 days at a time. Though Colmac takes care to make sure that the biomass provided by its suppliers is of high quality and is cut into small pieces so as to limit stress on the material handling machinery, the internal biomass feed system still sees considerable wear. "Biomass is among the hardest fuel sources on equipment," says Graeme Donaldson, Colmac's vice president and plant operations manager. Critical path transfer components must be selected and maintained with care to avoid failures that can shut down the whole line. In this area, maintaining close working relationships with equipment suppliers pays off. The Colmac site has been using screws and valves supplied by Precision Machine and Manufacturing Inc. of Eugene, Ore., since the current generating plant came on line in 1992. The plant now employs two sets of 12 metering bin screws (that feed the boilers), two sets of transfer screws, and two rotary valves per boiler, all provided by Precision Machine. Donaldson regularly consults with the company on things that Precision Machine can do to improve the reliability of the plant. "Precision Machine's valves last longer because they are built to tighter tolerances and the metallurgy has been designed to match the chemistry of our fuel," says Donaldson, who is an ex-marine materials engineer.

After requesting an estimate thru Yelp, we were immediately contacted by Desert Pride's owner and then our Project Manager, Ruben Aceves. Ruben called to discuss our project and then came out to our home within a day. He was extremely polite and accommodating, yet unassumingly confident. He listened, asked some questions, made some very insightful recommendations, took some pictures and sent us a solid estimate as promised. Once we retained them, Ruben was our phenomenal daily point of contact. He worked with us closely to understand and meet our every wish. He came to the house every day and texted throughout the day to let us know who was coming, when and what to expect. Ruben was so knowledgeable and laid back that he gave us advice on things we were considering doing outside their scope of work. (i.e. new front doors thru Home Depot and some flooring thru a friend of a friend.) The project turned out more beautifully than we imagined. Everything was completed on time and there were no surprises on pricing or timeliness. Even when we changed our minds on some of the details, Ruben didn't flinch or hit us up with a change order. I can't promise that everyone will get such amazing treatment, because we're just one customer, but I'll never consider anyone other than Desert Pride for any future needs.
