We went here this weekend to celebrate my cousins bridal shower. We were a party of ten and confirmed our reservation weeks in advance. We also confirmed that while online could only take groups of six that they would make two separate reservations. When we arrived we were told that only six of us would be allowed to sit and the four of us could "sit on the ground" as all the other tables were reserved. When we showed proof of confirmation, the man behind the counter still wouldn't adjust or accommodate our group. I think the worst part of this was the man who was extremely condescending and rude to our group. It is one thing not being being able to make an accommodation, it is another thing to make a bad situation worst by having a rude and nasty attitude. Worst of all there were multiple tables open and could have easily accommodated our group for the short hour we would have been there. I hope the owner reads the multiple reviews on this man and reconsiders him as an employee as he doesn't advocate a positive brand image for whitecliff. I looked at reviews after our experience here and was not surprised that he was mentioned multiple times. Nonetheless, we will make sure to strike this venue from future visits. FOLLOW UP NOTE: We spoke to management TWICE prior to this event about our size to confirm. Per their own notes and response you were going to book a party of 6 and 4 for our group to accommodate this so the below response is a lie. You literally told us four of us were "welcome to sit on the dirt." Also re: the below response- we agree there is a difference between being rude and your employees epitomized the very essence of being rude and being condescending. Rather than admit an error on your part and accommodate us -your employees shut us down, were nasty and wouldn't even listen to us. The below response only furthers the validation of this. read more

My visit to Whitecliff was not memorable. It's self serve and the wine tasting gets served in ramekin plastic cups then handed to you on a tray. Cheese and crackers are in refrig. Had to ask for cutting board and knife. Staff was not helpful at all and needs adult supervision. Tasting area was in basement garage with wobbly tables. Will not be revisiting any time soon . read more

After a long week, spending a Friday afternoon at White Cliff was the best! Second time here... fantastic wine, outstanding fall scenery and great vibes. The rich red flight and the Awosting white were my faves! Some of the best wines in the Hudson Valley! Cynthia and Nell were super helpful with their suggestions. I'm sure the wine is great, but my family, which drove for hours to get here, never got the opportunity to even sit down. We were a party of seven, though when making the reservation, we said only six of us were drinking and they said it's ok. From the moment we got here, it was clear we were not welcome. I want to specially mention how rude, condescending and nasty the manager, Tristan, was. He talked down to us right off the bat -- including "explaining" what a line was to us. I've heard from other customers how great the wine is, but over and over again, I also heard how bad the service is. And yet again, they mentioned Tristan, and how rude he was to them. Before he even noticed that we were a group of seven, he made sure to give us a hard time. I couldn't help but wonder -- since we were a group of Asian Americans, did that play a role? I can't help but notice that other reviewers of color have also singled him out for bad service. I could tell from his comments he doesn't care what his customers think. I hope to get a chance to come here again, and be treated the right way. But I will never come when Tristan is serving. read more

So we go last week and when we get there we're greeted by this blond women { I'm writing nice). We wanted to buy a $14 bottle of red blend which we like a lot . We were then told that because of COVID they could not open a bottle for us BUT they could sell a glass for $7. Ok 7x 4 is 28. So first off their blaming it on COVID WHICH IS A LOT OF BS. (Other wineries and whiskey places are not pulling this BS. We left and went to other wineries and told them this story and they all agreed that Whitecliff was just trying to make MORE MONEY OFF OF US SUCKERS. WILL NOT BE BACK SORRY TO SAY. I am so shocked to see my favorite winery have such a low rating . Why??? Well, you have to always read those reviews . Most one star reviews are from one group of people, who went there , had a not very nice experience and they all wrote about it. Not fair!! It looks like it was a mistake on the owner/ manager part and we get it , it was very disappointing, but don't ruin these people's business !The owner even apologized over and over again. You don't see this very often on Yelp. I am a club member and a big fan of both the premises and the wine. I also drive over an hour to come and support people who make great wine and are proud of it. I agree , sometimes the girls who do the tastings look like they don't care to be there,but have you tried to hire ? Nowadays it's a miracle if you find someone who wants to work and has a passion for the job. With that said , give this winery a try, you won't regret it!! Unfortunately, my friends & I tried to visit this vineyard and were approached by a women who pretty much asked us what do we want when no one had even handed us menus yet or explained the process. She was extremely rude as if just our presence had bothered her. We tried to order a bottle of wine for $24 instead of paying $10/glass and were instantly denied. It looks like another reviewer had the same issue and a manager advised they would appropriately update their website but still have not. I wouldn't have wasted our time and effort. I was helped by a very friendly lad (I believe his name was Tristan) and not only was he extremely knowledgeable on his craft, but he was also extremely friendly and accommodating. They have all the proper safety precautions in place to make it an extremely comfortable visit even during a pandemic! In short, good views, lovely employees, wonderful wine. Went to Whitecliff Vinegard the other day with my husband and a couple of friends. I was so pleasantly surprised. I don't do wineries very often. I'm an Italian, originally from the Bronx, and I drink "red" wine (maybe white if I am having fish). Went to Whitecliff and the lady that served us (Christine, I think) was so friendly and knowledgeable about wines, and didn't make me feel foolish about my wine ignorance. We tasted wines and she told us a lot about different kinds of wine. We sat outside on a beautiful day. The winery was very clean and we were able to social distance. We had a really fun day. Came here while staying in the New Paltz area. We had such a great time! The tables are spread out a fair distance which was great in making me feel safe while enjoying my time there. The view from the deck/grass area is simply beautiful. Me and my boyfriend both enjoyed a tasting. He did the bold red and I had a best of white cliff. I loved the variety in my tasting. The Pinot rose was a favorite for me. We ended up buying a bottle to enjoy. The wine is poured into little mini cups that are placed on a plate around you wine glass. They provide you with the list of wines in the order they are later out in the dish and you work your way through the mini cups. Pour them in the larger wine glass as you go. I think it's a great way to keep things hygienic and safe. The wait was a little long, with lots of back and forth, but these are hard times. I'm grateful they were taking all precautions they could. Adorable little winery in Gardiner in the Hudson Valley wine region. This place 8s family run and has a homey feel. Apparently, their wine has won many accolades and helped to establish the Hudson Valley as a wine-making region to be reckoned with. The Merlot and Malbec were very good in the tasting menu, along with some excellent dry reislings which the region is most known for. The woman running the tasting was informative and friendly. I could give them 5 stars just for the view. But wait! They sell wine... and some tasty products as well! It's been a couple of years since I was last here. The downstairs is new to me. I understand it's used for bulk wine pickups and as a spillover tasting area, though I was also told they don't necessarily keep all the wines for tasting downstairs. There is a staggered set of options for tasting, depending on how many you would like to try, including single glasses. Besides some of the usual fare, one of the wines which caught my interest was their Merlot Malbec (60%/40%), a wine which is available but not currently listed on their website. The staff are pleasant and informative and very people-oriented. From behind the counter, they made sure to greet each group as they entered (I almost wanted to shout, "Welcome to Moe's!") Other merchandise included a number of jellies and butters to sample and purchase. The pumpkin butter is very addicting. And of course, the view in the back yard (and getting there) of the white cliffs of the 'Gunks is spectacular. Take some time to sit out back a the tables and chairs they provide to enjoy the view and perhaps that glass of wine you bought. read more

We had the most amazing experience at the Whitecliff Vineyard today. With the weather being as nice as it was, the tasting room was very busy. There was only one young girl working the counter and she handle herself with grace. Even though she was being pulling in a bunch of different directions she never let you know she was overwhelmed. With each wine tasting she gave each guest a nice description of the wine. I was very impressed with her knowledge of each wine and her ability to multi-task. The variety of wines were very impressive. We enjoy almost every wine we tasted. From white to red, dry and sweet each wine offered a different experience. After our tasting we bought a couple bottles including Awosting White, Traminette and Red Trail but decided to open the Red Trail there and enjoy the scenery. The mountain view was truly breath taking! We spend the entire afternoon sipping delicious wine and enjoying some of the best nature can offer. What a delightful day! We will certainly be back soon. The only thing I wish they offered was a tour of some kind. I would love to learn more about the vineyard from those who take care of the grounds and the wine making. read more

Probably one of the better wineries up here. They also seem to have the most variety of wines too so there is something for everyone who likes weaker / sweeter wines. Nice kid who poured. You get six wines for the price of the tasting. That is really good! Reserve Chardonnay was our favorite and we bought a bottle after the tasting. Riesling. They had a few I believe and this was their past bottling. I hate rieslings and this one you did not feel like you were drinking simple syrup. Not bad. Rose- Was essentially basic. Malbec- Flavorless and had spice take over the fruit. Pinot Noir- Was not a pinot. It was nearly transparent and watered down. Cannot remember the sixth. I think they are trying to bite off more than they can chew. They should focus on creating a solid good wine and not the variety. They Chardonnay was very good and unique. I think they could achieve some nice blends since they have a dozen plus wines if they focus. Buy a bottle of your favorite and sit on the deck! read more

We did wine tasting for I believe $10 (choose 6 wines) and got a tiny cheese plate for $12.. Not the greatest value. If you buy a bottle there are plenty of outdoor tables to relax and enjoy. The tasting room was small, overcrowded, and infested with fruit flies. They were everywhere and really annoying. This was one of the smaller wineries we checked out up here and can say it's not one we would return to. read more

What a beautiful view! I wish we could have had our tasting outdoors to enjoy the deck looking out to the mountains, but we enjoyed out tasting none the less. We tried the crystal tasting which was really nice For $15 we tasted all of the wines they produce plus one spirit. There are some great Hudson whites, but my favorite was the NY Malbec - who would have thought! I also thoroughly enjoyed the cassis and would have taken home a bottle but they were sold out. I'll have to return in the fall :) The wines are a little pricey for me, but I do prefer drinking local and it's not a bad way to pass the afternoon! read more

Friendly staff. A big plus that they allow dogs. The staff seemed knowledgeable of their products. However, i thought that some of the wines were underwhelming. The crystal tasting is $15 for 12 wines + 1 spirit. Out of the 6 red wines i tasted, i only truly liked one. The rest were pretty watery and light. The whites were somewhat better. I also liked how they offered a spirit too. I was able to try their grappa as well as their brandy which were both very good. The grappa had a very strong licorice taste, so it wasn't viney like your typical grappas. If you like jager, you will probably enjoy their grappa. The brandy was like a light version of a scotch, so it worked well too. The best red they have (IMO) is the cabernet franc. read more

The wine tasting room is a little tacky. I felt like I was in my grandmothers living room filled with useless knicknacks and dusty doilies. The wine here is good however. We bought a bottle of La Grange White. This is one of the more scenic wineries in the area due to its position under the "whitecliff" of the Shawungunk Mountains it faces. We visited the new Hudon tasting room 2 days in a row and had a great experience each time. The wines were great and the staff was friendly. It was nice to learn that the tasting room and vineyards are part of / leased from a family farm that still grows fruit trees on site. And our dog was allowed on site which was a great bonus. read more
