We stayed in the Rembrandt room, each room features a famous master's name. While no Rembrandt's in the room, the whole Manor features the excellent modern art from Jan-Willem and family. The room was well themed with curated pieces and decorative touches to match the art hanging form the wall. The decorative effect made you feel like you were staying at an arts friend's home not at a B&B, which was great. Nancy and Jan-Willem were gracious hosts very willing to provide area information and recommendations. Breakfast was excellent featuring fresh fruit and veggies from their garden. Their grounds were open and featured a large pond with 3 amazing koi including a golden koi that looked like a mythic dragon. And there are 2 sometimes 3 grounds cats that are either hunting or rolling over for belly rubs. Only minimal down sides; you are about 10 min from downtown Lexington, the front rooms, while nice and breeze do pick up some road noise, and the shower pressure was a bit low, but nothing to take away from a great visit. Since this was an art weekend we enjoyed three meals per day in the dining room. Art instruction was given by Jan-Willem and everyone learned something new even though 4 of the guests had had several years of art lessons. The setting is beautiful and it is a lovely place to just spend a weekend or in combining it with art lessons.Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

First off, the extra time was greeted by a lovely, clean, well done room with beautiful views and grass fields on the property. The front desk was amazing nice, clean, quiet and professional. I have read the word "dated" which is so inaccurate. It is a very retro style when motels were inspired by European styles. On top of that it has hand painted original artwork in the rooms. It had great views of the countryside (in the front & back). This is NOT a chain and is so much more then a chain it is amazing. Try Chicken Coop down the road for breakfast and meals (separate review) and you wont be disappointed. Highly recommend.

The wooden floors and little reading nook by the window were an added bonus. Bathroom was a nice size, we had a jacuzzi tub/ shower combo. Wendy kept constant communication with us the day of check in to ensure we had everything we needed since we're checking in after hours. They were literally a phone call/ text away. The property is situated about 20 min north of downtown Bedford close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can take a stroll on the property and enjoy the numerous plants and flowers native to the area. There's also a small creek to check out. We enjoyed sitting on the porch covered with different plants and greenery to watch the local hummingbirds buzz around and visit flowers. Our bedroom was cozy with a super comfy bed, sitting area to watch TV, and private bathroom with excellent shower pressure. There was also a small fridge in the common area to store perishable items from our cooler. Sally was a wonderful B&B host and made unique and tasty breakfasts each morning keeping in mind our dietary restrictions. Overall the experience was pleasant and relaxing. I look forward to making a future visit. P.S. - Sally also creates magnificent stained glass art which she sells if you're interested. It's all carefully curated and lovingly tended. I stayed with a few ladies at the Vine Cottage that's located toward the back of the property. It had a huge screened porch, a huge kitchen and dining room, common areas to relax and comfortable beds in each room (I believe there were four rooms). The rooms have a vintage feel to them but are decorated simply. Because we stayed at the cottage, breakfast was not included in our stay. But we had a big kitchen, so we made our own breakfast each morning. The Vine Cottage would be a great place for a family or a big group of friends to stay. It's like your own little Air BNB. The grounds are huge. You can walk around and admire the statues and artwork that Chris and Cliff, the owners of The Inn at Forest Oaks, have collected over the years. It's a very peaceful place, and quiet, too. One morning, it was a little foggy, and I saw deer emerge from the fog and trot across the field in front of the inn.
