My friend and I went to this pub on Saturday for lunch.
This is easily the worst place I've ever visited. We heard a woman in the kitchen screaming obscenities at the young waitress who was obviously very stressed and upset , it was just awful to listen to.
Then just as I was served with my meal, the woman started shrieking that her hands were dirty!!!
It was at this point I asked the barmaid to refund us. I explained that I didn't wish to eat food prepared by someone with dirty hands, not to mention that it was lukewarm and processed (breaded fish, oven chips and shrivelled peas).
The barmaid took me to the kitchen door where my friend had just been served with her food (congealed gravy is never good). A woman came out and I explained we weren't happy to hear about dirty hands while our food was being prepared and she denied saying it - she said she was talking about a serviette that was dirty (we know exactly what we heard!). Apparently, she's been the landlady for 35 years and knows all about hygiene. I asked who was screaming at the waitress and she admitted it was her! We were shocked that someone could speak to another human being in this way - it was absolutely disgusting!!!
She then went straight back into the kitchen not caring one bit that two customers were unsatisfied. We decided that it wasn't worth insisting on a refund for the sake of a few quid. We asked the waitress to remove the food and went to the Shoulder of Mutton down the road which was far better.
So - as we couldn't eat our dried up, over processed, lukewarm, congealed food which was made by someone with questionable hygiene standards, and we weren't offered a refund (or even an apology) this pub doesn't even deserve one star - it's the absolute pits! read more
