Our church group chartered White Star to go on a trip to Charleston and Savannah. The trip schedule was good and both hotel accommodations were great but... the bus was very disappointing after paying extra to take a chartered bus instead of our church bus. The bathroom had no water to flush the toilet so not useable and smelled, the electrical outlets didn't work to be able to charge your devices , but the most aggravating was tires were not balanced/out of round-it was one of the worst rides I've ever taken. If you wanted to do a word search or crossword puzzle there would be no way to stead your pencil to do so. I was very disappointed and so were the other riders on this trip!! read more

I would not recommend White Star Tours, especially for travelers with disabilities or mobility challenges. The trip was poorly organized, lacked communication totally about activity accessibility or where we were even going, and several people in our group were unable to participate because they couldn't manage stairs or long walks. It was disappointing to see people spend nearly $2,000 only to sit and wait for everyone else to be done sightseeing. The "included meals" were literally just thrown together, no restaurants. We ate at 2 campsites both an hour away from the hotel where the 4H and then some lady who owned a campsite made 1 meal. No choice of anything. You either ate what they made or you didn't eat until the next day at the hotel continental breakfast. I brought my own granola bars and ate them for lunch and dinner. The bus restroom was not allowed to be used, and the charging outlets didn't work. The only positive part of the experience was our driver, who was friendly. We spent hourssss on the bus driving to places too in West Virginia that weren't even that great to see. read more

First, I want to say that I have NEVER left a review for anything, but I was so disappointed with a trip to the Finger Lakes, NY through this company, that this has to be said. This is the worse tour I've ever been on. The bus was dirty, smelled, we were unable to use the bathroom because we were told both tanks were full (full on the first day), the stench was horrible, the charging ports were not working, the escape hatch on the roof was leaking when it rained, and the GPS took us through places a bus never should have been. The travel logistics were terrible: too much backtracking resulting in too much time on the bus, no built in time for driver breaks resulting in being late to our destinations and having less time there. The hotels were not the best. Though clean, 2 of the 3 hotels were very old and dated. The ride back home was a nightmare and could have resulted in a catastrophe. All week, the driver was checking the right rear passenger tire. Departing our last stop, he was overheard saying "well now I'm concerned" as he looked at the tire. Some time later, the tire blew while we were on the Mass Pike. While he did a great job pulling over safely, we certainly were not in a safe place. The State Police provided safety for some time, but they were told it would be 2 hrs before they could send some to fix it. WHY DIDN'T THEY SEND ANOTHER BUS? The trouper had to leave as he could not say with us for 2 hours, leaving us vulnerable of being hit by a vehicle. WE WERE ON THE SIDE OF THE MASS PIKE FOR 3 1/2 HOURS before someone came to replace the tire. SAFETY WAS OUR CONCERN. The spare tire should have been new. IT WAS WORN ON THE OUTSIDE AND SLITS THROUGH THE SURFACE. We limped home on a bad spare and a prayer. We were suppose to arrive home at 7:30 p.m.and arrived t 11:45 p.m. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY. NEVER. read more

I was recently on a bus trip to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. This was the worst experience I have ever had. the first stop was an apple orchard tour. What a joke it was run down and overgrown the whole tour consisted of the bus driving 300 yards through the orchard then stopping at their store. second stop was a covered bridge another joke. We were left for dinner on our own twice with no restaurants open within 2 miles. How does that work when you transportation is a bus and the average age of the folks on the tour was at least 70. We were supposed to go on a boat tour of the bay in Maine when we got there, they had no idea of us and were put on a ferry that that took us on their route. Some boat tour! We had a lobster bake in Maine and all of the lobsters were under cooked. On the trip home there was no scheduled lunch stop and we had to find our own? It only took 3 hours to get lunch because they were not prepared for us?? The only upside to the whole trip is that our driver Rachel was awesome read more

They worked with us ( we are leaders planning a trip to Charleston,SC) and they adjusted our schedule adding a day as we requested and adding every available sightseeing location that we requested!!! We were a group of 45 seniors​ from Buffalo area and they arranged a trip that was exciting , memorable and one we will always remember. Two days in Lancaster,PA, two in Washington, DC, and one day at Flight 93. The trips are always flexible and the staff adjusts itinerary to fit our needs and wishes. They contracted Fitzgerald Brothers Bus and had Stacy as a driver . The bus was beautiful , had outlets, cup holders, and​ even Roku on board. White Star staff work carefully with every group leader, are very flexible and accomodating. We have been working with them for 15 years and they have always exceeded our expectations. The tour was nice but the bus was horrible. They sent a bus knowing that they were having trouble with the air conditioning system. It was either 40 degrees or 100 degrees. No in between. Many of us are sick now. When I went to find out about the Wi-Fi the driver took his phone and teetered it on the steering wheel while diving in heavy traffic on 95 for about 3 minutes. We found that there was no password but the driver didn't know that and was trying to look stuff up on his phone. Very dangerous and illegal. Many seats were broken and the bus leaked from the roof where there was a taped up area. If our church uses white star tours again I'll stay home. read more

Loved this tour to Everett Railroad & Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on June 18th with White Star Tours. The hotels were clean & very accommodating. Loved breakfast at both hotels the Fairfield Inn & Suites Bedford, Pa. & the Comfort Inn & Suites in La Vale, MD. Bus was only a couple months old. Driver was very helpful & personable. The restaurants were a pleasant surprise. Doing a White Star bus Tour on 11/18/25 to Wheeling Festival of Lights & Dickens Village Christmas. Looking forward to another great trip. read more

I traveled to Mackinaw Island with White Star on 09/22/2024. It was the worst trip I had ever been on. The bus and the driver were bad.We were lost more than once. Hotels were not great. The leader was new and she tried but she needs more training. We were told we would be compensated for the trip but so far nothing. I will never use this company again and am now turned off for all bus trips. read more

Recent trip to NYC was filled with bus troubles. Driver and tour guide did not communicate in advance. Driver did not use proper navigation tools to get around NYC. To much time on the bus. Hotels were great, Rocketts show was fabulous. What time we had off the bus we made the best of seeing what we could. The tour guide also got off the bus before the last stop. read more

Stay away from this company!! I went on a bus tour to Mackinac Island, Michigan this week, it was the worst experience I've ever had. This company changed our hotel stay while we were on our way to where we were scheduled to go. Instead of the nice hotel we had booked, they changed it and put us in a motel, yes a motel a $90.00 a night motel. The itinerary was absolutely horrible! Out of the six days trip, we were on the bus 4 days. Meals and restaurants were scheduled too close to each other or the schedule was changed last minute. I cannot even give this company a star, but that's the lowest choice I have. read more

Waste of Money - Avoid White Star Tours!!! If you are considering booking or organizing a trip with this company, do some research first. The online reviews are bad and there is a history of poor service from this company. Read through the reviews and you can see repeat occurrences of people having bad experiences with White Star Tours: poor itineraries, horrible busses and drivers, bad hotels and restaurants ... all aspects of a trip that the tour company DOES have control over. If repeat reviews and feedback of a bus company, or hotel or restaurant, or aspects of the itinerary are not satisfactory, then a change, a correction, is needed! Yet, White Star Tours continues to take travelers money (trips paid in full in advance) and gives them an unsatisfactory experience, over and over. I also went on the trip to Mackinac Island in Sep 2024. It was a horrible trip!! Right from the start the bus was over 4 hours late picking up the group. When the driver needed help navigating from our pick up location to the Interstate, I knew we were in trouble. The driver had trouble navigating, took wrong turns, and got the bus stuck on a one lane road in the dark. He needed help backing it out; our trip leader had to stand outside the bus giving direction over the phone. Not a good driver to use again. Bus Company: The bus we were on should have been sent to the bone yard long ago. Seats broken, arm rests broken, window blinds broken, leaking windows (when it rained, water came in), grinding transmission, an unusable video system, no WiFi, no power at the outlets, No A/C. The seat next to me had a hole in it ... every surface was dirty and gross. Not a good bus company to use again. Hotels: Two of the three hotels we stayed at were decent, not great, but OK. Although, the first night we checked into the hotel, the roster the hotel had and our trip leader had did not match up. There was much confusion and finger pointing about who was at fault. Meanwhile, myself and others were left standing without a room after a very long weary day. Reminder, we headed out over 4 hours late. One of the hotels was horrible!! Bayside Hotel of Mackinac, where we stayed 2 nights. The online reviews for this hotel are bad and my personal experience confirmed the reviews are accurate. Prior to the trip, concerns about the Bayside Hotel were raised, by multiple travelers, directly with White Star Tours and our trip leader. However, no change was made. Explanations of 'low staffing' are a poor excuse for the condition of Bayside Hotel. Everywhere you looked, there was something broken or needing to be cleaned or replaced. No breakfast was available at the hotel, our group and other groups were taken to a different hotel down the road. Multiple groups all trying at the same time to get breakfast, and not enough seating for everyone. At Bayside, there was evidence of Bed Bugs!! Anyone who asked for a new room was given one; I switched rooms but still was not comfortable staying there. Not a good hotel to use again. Locations: Our visit to Frankenmuth, MI, and ultimately to Mackinac Island was nice. Our time at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland was cut short because the bus driver missed a turn and took 10 minutes to find a place to turn around. The horse-drawn carriage tours on Mackinac Island were fun and the Grand Hotel is beautiful. It's a shame that the lousy experience of the actual travel, courtesy of White Star Tours, to and from our destinations overshadowed the places we visited. As another traveler mentioned, our group was told that we would somehow be compensated for our unsatisfactory trip, however that has not happened. A monetary refund of some kind might lessen the sting; an offer of credit toward another trip with this company would be an insult. read more

Took a trip to Maine, with the Cheektowaga Senior Travel club and mainly it was a nice trip. But the lobster bake dinner at Betty's was horrible. It was like chewing a rubber band. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. My husband has the steak dip dinner and it was tough and not hot. Big disappointment. The other disappointment was the stop to the lands end outlet. I don't think our driver was given good instructions as to where to let us off. They were reprimanded by security. And I don't think we were at an outlet because I could by lands end cheaper from the catalog. And that Eartha was a waste of time. We viewed it from the inside of the bus. This trip to Mackinac Island 9/22/24 was a mix of terribly horrible and partially good trip with White Star. We started 4 hrs. late the first day because according to the driver, the bus wouldn't start at the hotel. This bus should have been retired or scrapped years ago! Torn seats and flooring... rust everywhere..the toilet seat was cracked in half...the electrical outlets by the seats didn't work..the overhead vents worked only sometimes..when he tried to play the video it created huge screeching feedback ...there was an annoying, constant squeaking sound coming from the restroom...and the worst part was the AC stopped working the last 2 days ...on our way home all we got was warm air..it was like a sauna! Several in the group asked the driver if there were anything that could be done to fix it...he said he would call the office to see what they could do. Since it still didn't work I must presume they didn't want to do anything about it (possibly replacing the bus). The driver was okay...I'm not sure if it was him or the bus but it kept swaying back and forth even on good hwy...when it rained some windows leaked through the top....water from the rain dribbled down inside...he was a pleasant person and did a good job of loading and unloading our bags...and for the most part we left on time or early if we were all aboard early... he accommodated those that wanted to go somewhere to eat even if it was not on the schedule... I can't recommend this company mostly for the equipment being in such a terrible state. I found their hotels to be 50/50...they booked us at the Bayside Inn at Mackinaw City that had terrible reviews including bed bugs!!! half of the group had to be reassigned a different room. There was no breakfast at this hotel and we had to be bussed to a different hotel...that was a pain...especially since the breakfast room was up 2 flights of stairs! The other hotel was good. I felt the itinerary was too much time on the bus and not enough in between time...when we came back from a scheduled stop there was only 30 mins or so between time to load up again and off to dinner, etc. I see other good reviews but unfortunately, I cannot give a positive one for this particular trip. read more

On a recent trip to Canada, I found it to be nothing but a huge disappointment. For one, the bus driver did not know where he was going....had no sense of direction. Never was able to have us leave our destination on time. The tour that we were scheduled was nothing but a waste of time. Going to Toronto to see China Town is not something that anyone wanted to do. No place to eat lunch or shop. Might as well have visited NYC!!!! I would NEVER recommend this tour company ever. read more

My Finger Lakes, NY tour was an incredible waste of the $ 500+ it cost. It scheduled visits for the days the parks were not open. Pennsylvania Grand Canyon access and the Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Parks were scheduled to be closed on our tour dates. A wine tasting at a winery over an hour from our isolated ( nearest business was a car wash then a Goodwill .3 miles away) hotel was just that ; taste the wine we have poured as fast as you can and visit our store. No winery involved. No info about wine. No vines nearby to look at. Nothing. Drink up at 10AM and buy our stuff. Lunch on our own at a supermarket. Didn't see a lake except occasionally through trees along the highway for two of the three days! Only one meal was good. And that was rushed because the time allotted was shorter than the staff could handle. Poor scheduling. We spent more time riding the bus on highways than visiting places. We zigzagged across New York just out of sight of the lakes. Get someone on your staff who can use mapping apps and read websites for days places are open! read more

They contacted my restaurant to feed their bus tour wanted me to comp their driver and give their driver free food as if it was 1994 and he picked this place when in fact he did not. When they were told they were gonna pay for the bus driver they said, well we don't know if this changes things will get back to you. Gave me two days notice. The check I received was not including the driver... bunch of thieves! I can choose to charge a bus driver, and they can choose not to do business, but they do not get to choose to be crooks. Took trip to Mt. Rushmore 8/19/2021 from Port Huron, MI and it was bad. The person in charge of the trip did not do much to make the trip enjoyable, no moves or games for the complete trip. Most of the time she did not know what to do, not on time , did not know where to eat. The bus driver had to call for most of our meals to eat. She was more on the phone to people for upcoming trips, not in control of the trip she had. I will NEVER travel with white star tours again. We were suppose to be picked up at Summersville WV on august 9 at 8am. Bus broke down or wasn't even scheduled. We FINALLY got a bus around 2:30 pm. Then that bus dropped us off at 11:30 pm at our hotel. We were suppose to make it there at 4 or 5 pm. Next day(august 10) we had a different bus and driver. He told us we would not have him the next day. Next day,august 11, a bus showed up at our hotel. But we didn't know if it was going to or not. The very nice lady that was in charge of our trip, didn't even know a bus was gonna show until it did. Someone should have contacted the lady doing the trip, when they knew the bus wasn't going to show on Wednesday at the schedule time. Instead of her having to try to contact whoever at white star. From the way this whole thing was handled our group was VERY low on the priority list. Expectations for this business is very low for probably everyone that was on this trip. Everyone that traveled with this group were pleasant and no one really ranted, but everyone there agreed they would NEVER travel with white star tours again. Most everyone in this group was elderly. I was the youngest one ( in my 50s). They probably don't know how to use fb or any social media to tell you what a pain in the Butt this trip was. How inconsiderate of this company to jerk around a bunch of elderly ppl with health issues I don't know completely all about. One lady was on a portable oxygen. Some ppl had trouble walking around using canes. There was at least one older gentleman with the start of dementia that would get irritated about certain things. Maybe some of you all can related if you have older family members or friends with medical issues. Then image them getting jerked around by the incompetence of your company. Would you want to send them off on a messed up tour that we paid for??? Probably not. read more

I went on a tour to Wash DC, with the Menands Seniors, April 21-23. It was a total dissapointment to say the least. We had driver who was not familiar with DC, to find her way around. Motorcoach picked us up for a 6 day tour of Nashville from Harford County Maryland. The coach air conditioning froze up in about an hour and a half to 2 hours. No air, no cup holders, no window blinds, no liquid from the upper windshield washer, some trash in rear of bus. A miserable experience. We called White Star and they sent another bus overnight. They transferred all our bags and the second bus was nicer but the bathroom door moved when unoccupied and the front roof vent leaked when it rained. The driver was angry with us the WHOLE trip. He would not speak to folks getting off and on the coach. He never offered a hand to anyone getting off or on the coach. He never even stood nearby. He never assisted with only 2 rollators in luggage compartment. He never held an umbrella at the door for us. He did not pick up at all itinerary stops if he thought we could walk. It was too much for some guests. He missed 2 exits and if we made any suggestions on the route he said it was dangerous and could cause an accident. The only positives were he got ice and water for us when I asked and he helped with movies, cd's playing and bluetooth connection for phone. He did offer to pick up another coach at Hagerstown or look for repairs in Nashville. That would have been traveling in 80 degree weather with no air for 2 days. We opted to stay on course and not stop to get another bus due to time constraints. But it became obvious we could not stand the heat in the motorcoach. It was a very bad experience. The last thing involved the tour guide in Nashville. All our tickets were to be delivered and waiting for us upon arrival at the Opryland Hotel. None of our 3 sets of tickets were there. I had to call White Star and then he delivered them to us. Not convenient as it should have been. Ticketed Grand Ole Oprey seats were on far side of theater near the front. White Star tours does not deserve one star, but I had to add a star in order to post. It really should have negative ten stars! Do not take a White Star tour!!! We went on a tour booked by a NJ town Senior Center and had expectations for a quality tour. The tour organizer tried her best, however, the tour itinerary was very lacking from White Star. We spent most of the time on the bus, as the tour stops and times were not well planned . Food stops couldn't accommodate us or were closed. Stops and parking took much longer than anticipated and severely took time away from the destinations, time to eat, sightsee or shop. the bus driver wa nice, however, i believe ill prepared for the tour. He had sued it was hi s first one. The hotels were extremely under par and far from the cities of Charleston and Savannah scheduled on the tour. If someone asks me if I've visited Charleston or Savannah, I would honestly have to say NO. The first stop in Wilson North Carolina which was A Comfort In on I95, had nowhere nearby open to have dinner but jersey mikes. The motel has ROACHES! STAYED UP ALL NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS ON ! Several other tour travelers also complained of roaches. I suspect the hotel was infested. The restaurants ranged from passable to disgusting, particularly the Golden Corral nearby. Each were at least 20-30 minutes out of town on the highway. White Star choose the cheapest accommodations and restaurants. The tours included were nothing more than a guide from the visitor center joining the bus and speaking for two hours while we strained our necks to get a bottom view of an historic building. We were late for everything, which caused us to rush around the Old Market IN CHARLESTON and grabbing a take out to eat on the bus! The day in Savannah consisted of the same type of tour. We left the bus and walked around the River walk on our own. The people that stayed on the bus, had an awful speaker and were dropped at the River walk at the far end and had about 1 hour to eat and explore. The worst Hotel was the Country INN and Suites outside of town off I95. It was filthy. Stained rugs, mold, dirty and worn furniture throughout. The desk informed us that the site was being renovated by a new owner. It should be closed to guest until renovated. The Local Health Dept. should be notified. The place looked ready for demolition. These are just of the lowlights. On the way home, my husband and I did not want to stay in the Roach motel, so we paid $179, to spend the night and sleep in the Fairfield INN across the way. This tour company should be closed. The only positive of this tour were the very nice people we met and shared a laugh with. read more

Long trip from Pa. to Mackinac Island, Mi. Stops along the way were a total waste of time, and boring. Neils Dutch Village was nothing but a giant gift shop and child oriented. waste of 2 hours, next day Windmill Island Gardens another waste of 2 hours. Hotel going out and back was same hotel, terrible. No hot water, only one elevator working out of 6, for a bus load of people, were told they had restaurant open until 11. They had no help to operate the restaurant, it was very bad. Trip out was better than trip back. I would NOT recommend this company at all. read more

Our hotel Mariner Resort in Cape Cod was a complete disaster. Our trip was Sept. 2023 n the hotel had terrible rooms, very noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom, oh and by the way you had to turn it on because it was hooked into the light in the bathroom only one switch. Very noisy air conditioner rattled all night. The beds are on a platform and creaked all night when you moved around. TV always blacked out had to call for assistance 3 times. And finally the toilet stopped flushing and when we called they said no one could come until after 9 am we fixed ourselves. My last comment is that the service is terrible and lacks enthusiasm, it seems they look annoyed when asking for help. The last straw was we were told to put our luggage in front of our door by 7:00 am for pick up to be brought out to the tour bus. Luggage was still in front of door at 8:30 so we took it ourselves. Bus was leaving at 9:00. The only good thing about our trip was our driver, Lee. He was fantastic, very gracious and pleasant. Anytime I go on a tour I will make sure it is not with White Star Tours you definitely need to improve on what hotels you recommend. read more

Just returned from a trip to NYC with the Carlton Group. I was VERY disappointed with the planning of the trip. It didn't allow enough time for traffic in the busy city and we weren't able to go to the places we paid for. Also, the first bus driver and the guide had disagreements from the beginning. This was my third trip and unless changes are made, my last. I would suggest that age of the participants be considered. Having taken care of my elderly parents I am at the age I don't care to take care of someone else's, because of their disabilities we were delayed and didn't get the full benefit of the trip. If they are going they should be required to bring someone along to take care of them so they can keep up with the group. The first day we ate at an OUTBACK instead going to the one planned in downtown NYC!!! Talk about a disappointment! I had convinced some friends to go because there wasn't going to be enough to make the trip. Several said they would never go again. After meeting another travel guide at Ellis Island and hearing how she carefully handles the agenda and directions to her participants I suggest you carefully consider the experience for your travelers in all aspects. read more

I went on the Wilson, NC, Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA September 2022. We had reservations at Cracker Barrel, 43 tour members - they turned us away because they didn't have enough help (w/confirmation and reservation!!!) We ended up eating at Wendy's (43 people standing in line). The trip was safe, and weather was beautiful. But the hotels..... roaches in our hotel in SC, ants, vomit on the sheets, ripped bedding, backed up tub and sink, rot on the ceiling and cats meowing outside of the kitchen door at breakfast was more than I bargained for in NC. I took pictures and contacted White Start Tours - each email came back undeliverable, so I mailed a package with explanation and pictures I took - no response from White Star - ghosted me!!! Last time I travel with them. Radisson offered me 60,000 points for another stay with them. Once was enough for me!!! read more

This was our first time on a tour like this and it will be our last. The bus was about as comfortable as an airplane seat and with four of the eight days spent on the road this was not good. All of the motels were adequate except for the last one. We came in late at night to a Days Inn which qualifies as a ROACH MOTEL. I killed nine roaches as soon as we walked in the room and found more the next morning. We were trapped because of the location and spent an absolutely miserable night. read more

I was on a senior citizens group bus trip from September 17 to September 22 to Michigan. The bus was old and in poor condition. We started with a driver, Juaquin, but when we got to Michigan he got off and another driver, Annette got on to drive. We were within 40 miles of our first hotel when the bus blew a rear tire. We sat in darkness and rain two hours until it was replaced. Annette did not put out flares or triangles to show the bus was in trouble!! She didn't want to get out in the rain. She got us to our restaurant, but after the meal introduced our third driver. Ian, just 23 years old. He was a great driver and was with us the rest of the week. Once the bus overheated, but he quickly fixed that. Once the AC quit but he fixed that too. The toilet did not flush so after five days it stunk! I sat in the back and a side window leaked air and fumes. I am appalled this relic is still on the road endangering lives. I will never travel on White Star line again. read more

Recently went on tour of Canada with this bus line it was a trip from hell. The bus broke down at the beginning of our trip and for two days of our paid trip we we were stuck waiting at gas station and in hotel lobby while the tour coordinator and driver tried to figure out what to do. The company did not seem to care about 52 seniors waiting to get started. Soon day in late afternoon we got started again. But I have to complain about the discomfort of the bus it was as if you were on an air plane the seats were so jammed in that there was no leg room at all. you could not stand straight up to get out of seats. the seat backs were so high you could not see over them. it was so miserable. The bathroom on bus was never equipped with hand sanitizer. Ane were ask to not do number 2 in bathroom.. Now mind you this is Seniors on this tour bus from hell. I will never travel with this line again. One good point is the driver was great. But this bus line needs some major changes. read more

Worst bus tour ever. 1st the microphone did not work. Had a 2hr guided tour with stepon guide in Charleston. Couldn"t hear what was being said. Learned nothing. Restaurant must have been backed up because never got inside until about 8pm. Went to Magnolia Plantation arrived very late. Couldn't tour the house, taken on tram tour of some murky swamp land. Not worth the stop. In Savannah we again had a stepon guide and that was worst than the one in Charleston. So, 2 beautiful historic cities and we learned nothing. What a waste of time. Next we were taken to a different hotel than originally planned. It was NOT an upgrade. On day 5 didn't leave the hotel until10am after a breakfast of microwave sandwiches and frozen waffles. Went to the same street as the day before. Would have been nice to see something else. Bus had lots of noise when moving, bathroom door didn't close properly so had a strong urine smell. White Star owes us compensation for all that we missed out on. read more

We decided to take our first bus trip now that we are retired. We seen a trip from Port Huron to Charleston SC and Savanna Georgia. Our tour guide Donna was very nice and didn't control what White Star booked. The first day Sunday we ended up on the bus from 7:30 am until 9:00 pm. It showed dinner on our own at 7:00 pm but there was no place to eat at the motel so we stopped in route. Monday we rode again until about 4:00 and we got to a very crappy motel called the Sleep Inn no where close to downtown Charleston. The halls were filthy and elevator too. I killed a bug about 2 inches long just outside room. Just a dirty motel with no where to go for a drink or fun. Tuesday we went on the bus to visitors center because our bus didn't have a permit for downtown. We were told to load in a city bus for the Market on our own and packed in. Jammed in for 1/2 hour and dumped in downtown with no guide. Most were afraid and just road bus back and didn't get lunch. People were scattered and was hard to find everyone before boat ride in a horrible lightning and wind storm. Back to dinner and back to motel with nothing to do since we were outside of Charleston. Wednesday a bus tour of Charleston and about an hour of Charleston shopping! Drove to Savanna to a very nasty motel Comfort Inn. Again the furniture was badly soiled. Food still in the fridge. Black mold under the bar sink. The place stunk of mold and I was moved 3 times to try and find a cleaner room. Our shower had mold all around the tub. A short visit to a museum and about 30 minutes outside of Savanna to stay. Dinner was at a place that only opened for an hour to feed us?? Thursday a 2 hour tour and about 2 1/2 hours on our own then back 30 minutes to motel to rest?? Then back downtown to dinner and a show. Friday pouring rain and our time in Savanna cancelled to drive north and a stop at Billy Graham museum instead. Not a good trade off for shopping in Savanna. Then a ride from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm to get home on Saturday. We thought we would be close to walk around Charleston or Savanna but no where even close to anything, White Star advertise a Charleston and Savanna trip. Silly me thinking you should stay close to the downtowns and have more than a couple hours in each city to walk around. So 4 solid days of bus riding and only 3 days in the 2 cities. White Star should be ashamed to make people stay in such dirty stinky motels!! Never again with them. Also the bus had a toilet but the bus load of seniors were told to not use it. Just hold it until the next stop. My fault for not reading the reviews before booking but this was a bad trip. read more

Having returned from a 4 day tour to see the Ark Encounter, I feel as though I should voice my dissatisfaction. After a 10 hour drive to get to Cincinnati we were taken to the filthiest Golden Corral for dinner. It was a miracle no one got sick! Holiday Inn was clean, but buffet breakfasts were cold eggs and not enough seating as one other bus group also was there. One of the hostesses had curlers in her hair! UGH. Spent 5 hours at the encounter, which was 2 hours too much. On to bus and no opportunity to return to hotel. Taken on a boring 2 hour tour of Cincinnati and then right to dinner at a German restaurant. No chance to rest or freshen up and given the ages of the other people, we could have all used a bit of a rest. Too long a day! Next day we spent 2 hours too much at the creation museum, a 2 hour rest and then a river boat dinner. Once again hundreds of people and another lousy buffet! At least it was a nice night and sunset, but not enough places to sit outside and enjoy it. Our guide, Roxie was unimpressive, no excitement to her voice and no notice when we were to stop along our 10 hour drives. I've been on many other bus tours and this was the worst. Only positive thing was the driver JR, he did a great job! I will never use white star tours ever again. Poor itinerary times and very poor guide. Not worth the $620. 00 read more

We took our first tour to Myrtle Beach/Charleston SC on April 28, 2019. We had a fantastic driver, a great live stage show, a good escort and adequate food and lodgings. On the other hand, the agenda was poorly professionally balance for a beach tour; too many stage shows and shopping events tainted this beach tour. The bus ordered was NOT appropriated for the seniors on this tour; the bus was designed for students going to sporting events, etc. The agenda constricted the escort; as she could NOT adapt the agenda to the tour members. White Star Travel Center needs to put more professional planning into each of their tours. read more

Took a guided group 2-night tour to Annapolis/Baltimore with this company. Although the hotel was okay as well as the tour of the Naval Academy and the Aquarium, the rest was a total waste. The dinner at Philips was terrible. Service was so slow that we had to rush through dinner without dessert and coffee/tea, which was all prepaid. Toby's Theater was okay, but not exactly gourmet food. We stayed overnight in order to take a guided tour of the Baltimore area the second & last day, but the guide never showed up and we wound up with our little vacation cut short and an extra night $pent in a hotel for no reason. This was not an inexpensive tour and it was very disappointing, and as far as I know there was no apology nor monetary reimbursement for their poor management. It was very annoying to have to spend extra money for a lousy dinner and another overnight at a hotel, only to leave for home the following morning, 8 hours before we were supposed to.... we could have returned home the previous evening without incurring the extra expense. Needless to say, we never saw Baltimore & its harbour. Stay away from White Star! They don't know what they're doing. read more

Recently went on two tours with White Star within two weeks. I will never go on amother tour with this company again. Both times the bus was one hour late picking us up, resulting in further delay due to traffic. This caused us to be late on arrival on the first day of our events. On a tour to the Finger Lakes, we completely missed our tour of the Corning Museum because we were so behind schedule. This was extremely disappointing since this was supposed to be the highlight of our first day. On the first trip, their excuse was that the driver took a wrong turn and got lost; on the second trip, the driver got a flat tire before arriving to pick us up. I am not going on a third trip to hear what their excuse will be this time. Also, at times, the driver was speeding. We also were supposed to get baggage handling, however, we had to handle our own luggage off the bus and to and from our rooms. read more

Star Spangled Holiday Boston Pops 4th of July Food stops were unscheduled just where ever fast food could be found along the road. bus leg room less than economy class on a plane two nights hotel dirty 2 nights passable 2 nights nice. Boston tour guide did more socializing with other tour guides than guiding our group and walked us several blocks out of the way going to the POPS and then back to where we started from. Will not take a tour with White Star again Best part was the nice safe bus driver and one lunch on the harbor cruise Lobster was excellent read more
