Dealing with White's Performance and Machine from Kingsport, TN was the worst part of building my racecar. I ordered the 383CI 562HP SBC package from Whites in February 2018. Clint, the sales clerk quoted me an eight to ten week lead-time from the date of the order. I had one special request, an oil pan that would fit my 2012 COT NASCAR. I paid the deposit in full on the day I ordered and the remainder of the $6900 balance less than 30 days later. In the back of my mind, I figured they would push my build through faster with it paid in full. I was mistaken. At the eight-week mark, I called to get an estimate on the ship date since my car is at a shop hundreds of miles away. The new office girl stated it would be two more weeks before they could ship it. That's when the lies started. Every two weeks it was either ready to ship the next week or waiting on a part to arrive. Around the 18 weeks mark I started communicating with the owner over Facebook and let him know my displeasure. He assured me that he would "get to the bottom of the issue" and get the engine out ASAP. Two weeks went by without any communication from Whites. I called again and heard the engine was ready but it "had more honing to do". An hour after hearing about the "additional honing" on a finished engine, the shop manager called me to come clean. The engine was not together, it was not finished, it wasn't started and they didn't even have the block in stock to get started. The news came 20 weeks after I'd already paid for the engine that would take eight to ten weeks. In the time I waited, White's Performance and Machine posted close to 100 383-dyno videos on YouTube. Mine has never appeared on YouTube even though they supposedly ran my engine on the dyno. White's compensation for my delay was a dyno run that never posted. White's Performance and Machine delivered my engine 27 weeks after I placed the order. Beware!! This company will rip you off. I ordered a long block from intake to pan $8095.00. Was told 12-14 weeks. Paid in full, and never received all the parts. Also paid for a upgrade for $1655.00. Never received anything at all, and they will not refund the $1655.00. Had to file an complaint with the BBB. Expensive lesson to learn. Unreliable,unprofessional, scam artists..... Do yourself a huge favor and do business with someone else. These guys do you provide what they sell and do nothing but give you the run around... This has been a very bad experience. I ordered a rotating assembly heads and other parts from Glen I gave them a 2k deposit. @ weeks later Glen still couldn't figure out how to write me an Email to send me a receipt. I canceled my order and was refunded. Then I spoke with Paul he promised me that he would expedite my order and he would follow it through the process and make sure it was taken care of. Well I feel like an idiot 6 1/2 weeks later and my parts are still not ready.It was lie after lie from Paul and staff. I canceled my order again after my customer couldn't take it anymore, (he thought I was the one lying and didn't order his parts). I did lose a customer over this thanks to these guys. Beware!!!!!!!! After 5 months I just showed up yesterday after a 7 hour drive. Only 3 engines in the build room. All almost short blocks. No cams or timing chains installed. I took mine and miscellaneous parts to get close to my 5k down payment. Not a tool box in the place. This company is the worst ever!! WARNING, if you are not within driving distance, do not do business...you will get ripped off!!! On 4/16/18 I Purchased an "assembled" 427 small block, long block, for about $8000.00. Was supposed to take 12 weeks. During the wait I decided to add a turn key option for $1600.00 more that I paid that day. After 14 weeks I called and they had not started yet and, then told me that they were waiting for parts. This is when the lies began. I was getting worried about getting anything at all from them so I told them to just send me what parts they had and I would build my own engine. I have been a mechanic for 30 years and have built many many engines. I am a drag racer and have built all my race engines. I am getting older and thought it would be nice to just buy an engine for once...Bad move on my part. I chose the wrong company, Whites Performance and Machine It took months to get only most of the parts. Never did get them all but am cutting my loss and buying what they did not provide in their description. I purchased a 427 and they sent me 427 pistons but the wrong block. The block was a 4.155 bore and was for a 434. I didn't want to send the block back in fear of never seeing another one back. So told them they could send me the 434 pistons and I would send the 427 pistons back. This alone took another month. So after looking at their balance job I see that they only balance the crank and not the rest. All my hot rod and race stuff gets balanced to .5gr, so I sent it out and had a real balance job done. The pistons were fine but the rods were not, as usual, they had to grind on both the top and bottom of the rods and now my engine will sing instead of thump. Also had to re-balance the crank because of the bigger piston, cost, $350. How much do it cost to gave someone clean, inspect and assemble an engine? $400? At this point with all the lies and wasted time I just wanted to not have deal with these crook so I requested a refund for the turn key option that was not provided as they couldn't even put the engine together and it took them 6 months to refund me after countless emails with no reply and many many calls with promise to pay and get nothing...Lies! They use good parts but cut corners on the build. They advertise that the engine balanced and the block was race prepped...LOL They take your money, then use it to run their company! I was told that the reason they didn't refund my $1600.00 for 6 months was that they didn't have the money in the bank. It was in there when it went from my account to theirs but when it was time to give it back they kept using it for 6 months. If I was the IRS, they would owe me a bunch of money with interest and penalties...LOL This story goes on for ever, and there are many things I left out trying to shorten it. Here's the Deal, Don't Waste your time and money with Whites Performance and Machine. Buy your parts or engines from Jegs or Summit and get them in a week, use your local machinist with a reputation, look at th e reviews online. I see almost my same story all over the net from others and am now leaving the feedback they deserve for Bad service, Using my money to run their company, and running their business on a shoe string letting their customers suffer for months wearing them down. When they finally gave me my refund on 12/26/18 they had the nerve to ask me to remove any Bad reviews on them...en believable!! Take it for what its worth read more

Terrible service! I ordered a top end kit for a Chevy 350 4 months ago. I called today after having talked with numerous people over the 4 months and the guy told me he had never spoken to me, even though we spoke a week and a half ago and 3 times prior. Glen the sales guy ordered the wrong parts and at the time of cancellation, the parts were still wrong. Can't give less than 1 star or I would. These guys kept my money for 4 months and didn't even call me once to give me an update. POOR SERVICE! Do not buy from these guys, the price is not worth the headaches!! read more

What a beautiful engine my customer received for his 64 Mustang! It may have taken a little longer than anticipated but it was very much worth it. Courteous customer service & our salesman was not only knowledgeable but helpful in getting the right parts for my customers application. Follow-up. After filing a complaint with the BBB I received my refund shortly afterward. So, it looks like if you want results from this company you need to contact the BBB as emails and phone calls do not work. Still not recommended read more

I purchased an expensive engine from White Performance and Machine in 2018 based on the reputation Fred White had with his customers during his many years as owner. It turned into a very unpleasant and expensive experience as multiple delivery dates were missed and the delivered product was poorly assembled. It was only after I was in too deeply to get out that I discovered that Fred White had sold his business to someone who was knowlingly trafficing on his name and reputation without assuring that he would provide the expected products. There is some question in my mind as to whether Fred White is legally liable for damages done by White Performance and Machine in 2018, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is ethically obliged to help those customers who suffered as a result of the "bait and switch" scheme he enabled when he sold his business. I believe his future business would benefit from helping those cusomers and seeing more positive reviews of his business from previously disgruntled customers like me. read more

I wish I could give minus 5 stars. I ordered an engine last November. Didn't get it until March- 8 weeks late. Not built to spec or build sheet- Had head bolts that had been ground to fit and were still too long & bottomed out resulting in a head gasket leak- should of had studs. Rockers were not even for the kind of driving I am doing and they were the wrong brand specified. Intake leaked and nuts were only finger tight. There was copper gasket sealer on heads indicating that they knew there was a problem. There were used parts on it. Some of the hex plugs were stripped and an oil fitting was left in and had been exposed to the elements from when it was built to when I finally got it. The upper timing gear was not torqued. There oil in the water and water in the oil. I had it tested and there was a leak in the block. When I called World Products(great company by the way- good people) they said they had no record of selling this block to them(it also had no numbers stamped on it). I sent the whole thing back for White to build me a new one. They did and again it arrived 5 weeks late only this time without some of the parts that originally came with the first one. It took 3-4 more weeks to get those. They said they did a dyno on the engine but couldn't find the video. It did not meet the contract of 575-600HP promised. The second engine ran good in the garage when first started but when I started it the next day it back fired and ran funny. I checked it all out and discovered that the distributor had one of the vanes broken off- the piece wasn't even in the housing. If they had actually dynoed it they would've know that something was wrong with it. I drafted an agreement with Paul Rinehart, the owner, before I sent it back that he would reimburse me for the parts I had to buy. He signed it. I have yet to see a dime and it has been about 5-6 months. He also said he would send me a replacement distributor but it has been a week with evasive answers or none at all. He is a liar, a cheat, a thief and has never kept his word to me(the basis of integrity). A most dishonorable crook with absolutely no integrity yet he doesn't seem to think so. IF THIS HELPS SOMEONE THE AVOID THIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH THESE CREEPS THEN I HAVE ACHIEVED MY GOAL. read more
