As a healthcare professional myself, I will admit the logic and explanations were not always super clear to me, but having come from a family that practices Eastern medicine and herbalism I trusted that these methods have stood the test of time. Dr. Janice gave me dry powder herbs to take by mouth twice daily. She offers capsule formulation as well, but I opted for the powder to mix like tea. It tastes earthy but not bad. My basal temperature chart started out looking very erratic, resembling an EKG. After several months of treatment, the chart gradually looked more and more normal with a smoother curve and a more distinctive spike during ovulation so I knew it was working. With these treatments, I was able to quit coffee early on without side effects and would only drink it occasionally for enjoyment, not because I needed it to function. This herbal method requires work and faith on your end. Consistency is key for taking your herbs each day, recording morning basal temperature, eating a balanced and nutritious diet, getting enough rest, managing stress, and documenting your symptoms throughout the month to report back in detail. I also switched my household and skin care products to organic stuff because it wouldn't hurt to detox from those chemicals. In combination with the herbal and accupuncture, I continued to see my obgyn, had an HSG, transvaginal ultrasound, blood work, and the whole fertility workup. These labs helped Dr. Janice focus on some of my trouble spots (like ovarian cysts).
