Great dinner! Pub…read morehas great decor and a warm feel. We had dinner in the back dining room. Between the three of us, we had fish and chips, mussels, and the chicken and leek pie. The chicken and leek pie was 10/10, best I've ever had. The fish and chips however we more like 4/10. Over battered and left the fish in more of a mush, do not recommend. The restaurant is a traditional pub but very clean and all the staff were welcoming and accommodating. If you have dietary restrictions they are very sincere and knowledgeable about what's in every dish. All the food is incredible. The scallops have this beautiful lemon cream sauce that was wonderful to finish off with their house bread. The steak was cooked open wood fire in the back and it was balanced of lean and fat that melted as you chewed. The mashed potatoes were also a wonderful texture and stayed hot even after we finished off the steak. I highly recommend a reservation to dine here. We arrived early which caused a little bit of a problem, but the staff solved that and put us at a bigger table with the strict instructions we must be done in 1.5 hours. Still, I think they were a little annoyed with us. I ordered the Fish and Chips which as delicious. A nice big portion with crispy fish and crispy chips (fries). I'd probably go back if I were in the area again. This was especially convenient as we just got off a bus day trip one block away.

The dining area in the back is a bit on the smaller side, and tables are close to one another. However, it worked for this tavern in that it created a more intimate environment. The decor is what I think of as quintessentially British. My husband ordered the beef Sunday roast, while I ordered the porchetta Sunday roast. It was a lot of food, but it was exactly what we needed as our first meal after a long flight from the States. I found my porchetta to be slightly dry and it could have used just a little bit more of that brown gravy. Otherwise, everything was delicious. i loved the roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, while my husband's favorite was the sweet and spicy butternut squash. Our kids got the kids' portion of fish and chips, and they made a pretty good dent. I would highly recommend checking this place out!
