This is a country pub with an emphasis on food and the menu is trying hard to be a little different - which I think is encouraging! The staff were attentive and friendly and the food hit the spot - nicely presented and cooked well. The platter of prosciutto we shared as a starter was generous and the freshly made bread was excellent - I could have eaten more! My steak was a little on the well-done side of medium, but I'm not complaining. Altogether a very satisfying meal.
A couple of real ales on tap - though not, for some reason, pulled at the bar; are the pumps for decoration? A log fire smouldering nicely at one end of the room. Enough fellow diners and drinkers to create a relaxed atmosphere. Altogether, a pleasant evening.
I remember this pub as having a huge car park in the past, but this has been developed for housing so, if you drive into the car park you'll probably find yourself doing a three point turn and parking on the road. read more
