Är man i UK så är man. :) Maten är bra och du får mycket för pengarna. Jag åt en grillad köttbit med strips ( 4 cm tjocka!) med grillad svamp och tomater. Till det örtsmör på köttet och en skål gräddsås gjord med lokal blåmögelost. Köttet var mört och fint men intrycket grumlades något av att grillen inte rengjorts bra så det smakade lite bränt även om köttet var bra tillrett. Det var det enda minuset. Efterrätterna var fantastiska dock så totalintrycket blir högt. Man får inte vänta sig för mycket av en vanlig pub på landet. Är ni i närheten, stanna till här och njut av livet ett tag.

Desserts of chocolate and pecan brownie and banana fritters with toffee sauce were gobbled up. Ok, it's not cheap for a Devon pub, but the food is worth every penny - there was hardly anything on the menu I didn't want to scoff down. The pub itself is a charming sprawl of wooden rooms, and a small seating area out the front. It's homely and although the staff run a slick operation, they're still friendly and helpful. The pub was recently taken over by St Austell Brewery, so there's a good range of their beers, plus a couple of guest ales. This includes one local beer brewed in Branscombe. It's quaint, delicious, comfy and sits in one of the most stunning areas of the Devon coast. It is, quite simply, a perfect pub.

I remember looking longingly at the outdoor patio and what could only be barbeque equipment cloaked under plastic cover before entering the pub. If only the weather was nicer, I am sure the place would be buzzing with people drooling over the grill. Although we didn't arrive until 2:15pm after a wet and windy walk at the nearby Seatown, the staff cheerfully accepted our order (their last food order for lunch is 2:30pm). My boyfriend had the venison burger, I had the Chideock Scotch egg, and my friend had the goat cheese salad. Everything was prepared with great care and perfectly seasoned. It was fantastic value for money too, with the bill coming in just under £30 for three people with some food and a drink each. I highly recommend a quick (or slow!) bite here for those in the area.
