For example my son really wanted an orange longstaff but none of the catalogs they order from had an orange option. He was determined to figure out a way to get an orange one. That's what I mean about a "can do" attitude. He sincerely wants all of his students to be happy and have a good experience. Every week I witness more examples of this type of customer service. The other staff members are great too! They are flexible and accommodating. The instructor to student ratios are great. It is pretty expensive but it is pretty much the same price anywhere you go. My 3 year old 5 year old love it. My husband and I want to join in on the fun too and plan to start taking the adult classes soon!

Yes, I am an adult participant, and attended for a short time while in school in the area. I was looking for a great workout and the benefit of self defense skills was a plus. Also, being new to the area, I enjoyed the Village TKD family events. It is a family business with over 30 years of combined experience. They LOVE what they do and always keep it interesting with new workouts, relays and practice skills. Their fees are reasonable compared to other schools. And, they have multiple class times available during the week. Don't wait!!! Start now. I wish I would have 30 years ago or more....

I didn't come into Darimar Martial Arts as a clean slate. I…read morecame in carrying a lot--mentally, physically, stuff I don't always talk about. And I'll be honest... this place challenged me right away. Not in a loud, ego-driven way--but in a quiet, disciplined way that forces you to look at yourself. There's no hiding here. No shortcuts. No pretending. The Master teaches with intention. It's not just about movements--it's about awareness, control, and who you are when things get uncomfortable. That part hit me harder than I expected. At first, it can feel intimidating--especially if you're not used to structure or you've got your own stuff going on. But if you stay with it, something shifts. You start to build discipline again. Confidence. Control. This hasn't just been "training" for me. It's been a way to reconnect with parts of myself I thought I lost. And I respect that they don't water it down to make it easier. Because real growth isn't easy. If you're looking for comfort, this might not be your place. If you're looking to actually become stronger--mentally and physically--it's worth stepping into.

At that time, the school's late founder and best asset, Joon Pyo Choi was still young enough and enthusiastic enough to train anyone willing to come often and put in the effort. Master Choi was the US Olympic Coach for the 1988 games, the first time Korean Karate/Taekwondo was part of the event. Needless to say, Master Choi of North Korea was the real deal. He stood barely over five feet but had the kicking power and speed to rival the world's most competitive athletes, and he was an excellent instructor. I have not been to "OMAC" in almost two decades, so I cannot offer a valuable update on what the school is like nowadays. I can, however, confidently say that joining a school like this will likely improve certain aspects of your life, including your mental health and general fitness, but it will not teach you how to defend yourself in the event you are attacked on the street. In fact, it may even give you a false sense of confidence that could result in an even less desirable outcome. Taekwondo is an enjoyable sport, and you will learn to throw great kicks, but when you consider that nearly all real-life altercations occur in closer quarters, resulting in at least a clinch, if not wrestling, with punches and elbows aimed at your face from various angles, all the while, taekwondo's drills are insufficient. If you are looking for a place to send your kids to practice discipline, determination, and respect, OMAC is an excellent choice. You can also make lifelong friends here. However, if you're hoping to learn practical self-defense, you should look into jiu jitsu schools to supplement some kind of boxing or kickboxing training, where you regularly spar with someone who stands closer to you and throws punches at your face with intent. All this being said, OMAC was a real blessing in my life, and I was lucky to know Master Choi for those few precious years. I had a lot of fun, and focusing on climbing the ranks and learning the techniques kept me in good spirits all through high school.
