A night of drinking and WC to the rescue. I got my usual, Combo #2. Which is two Double Cheeseburgers, Fries and a Coke. I love pepper and my two DCB's were seasoned well with plenty of pepper. I wish my local WC used as much as they did here. My fries were super fresh, I had to wait for them to be done and they were worth the wait. They were crisp and had just a light coating of salt. My Coke was refreshing, it had that fountain Coke taste which is always better than a can or bottle. The young gentleman working the drive-thru window was polite and professional. He was also very detailed oriented. His service was up and beyond your typical fast food service. Sorry, since I went thru the drive-thru, I was unable to take pictures of my food. Took awhile after ordering but today I struck white castle gold and got fresh, hot sliders with hot fries. This location is notorious for slow service, but typically your food is fresh, and tasty. Terrible as expected! (/Desired?) Likely the true White Castle experience! The facility was actually nicer / cleaner than expected. Almost too much so - everyone was slipping and sliding around on the mopped floor. Our order was simple (5 combos), yet they left out the fries on 4/5 (at least they got 20% right...). The burgers / sliders were soggy, the fries were under seasoned, and the chicken rings were reminiscent of those creepy dinosaur shaped ones from the froze aisle. It's 24 hour fast food next to downtown... The place was remodeled a few years ago & usually pretty clean. The employees usually get the food & change right. There is no wonder the the place is always busy. Yes, sometimes bums are in the parking lot or in the restaurant. However, for the general idea of "the show must go on" is accepted here. So I have eaten the frozen White Castles for a very long time and I finally had the chance to stop in. I am so very very glad I did. Those little nuggets of happiness were just as good as I was hoping. We ordered about 30 of the White Castles with cheese between the 4 of us along with a few Smokey Joes and a Chicken and Waffle sandwich. I won't forget the fries either, they needed a bit of salt but they rounded out the meal. Those burgers are just pure happiness, the meat juice saturated bottom bun with those perfectly caramelized onions could keep me going for days. The nice thing about eating at a White Castle is the burgers come with pickles. I tried a few with different condiments and honestly they are awesome just the way they come, no Mayo or mustard needed. The Smokey Joe is a pint sized sloppy joe with smoked cheddar, a bit salty and a bit sweet. It was a decent sloppy Joe if burgers or chicken are not what's for dinner. The chicken & waffle sandwich was really good as well. Slightly sweet with a bit of saltiness from the bacon, it was overall a good sandwich. I would need about 6 of them to fill me up so I will stick with the classics which are way cheaper. I will definitely be back to this fine establishment. Waiting at the drive through window, my friends and I notice that all their reviews are about people trying this because of the Harold and Kumar movie... we were not an exception. There was no one ahead of us and no one behind us. We ordered maybe 6 bacon cheese burgers and one impossible burger. The bacon cheese burgers were terrible and we waited about 15 minutes in the car for it. The impossible burger was a bit better but there are so many fast food options out there this is probably more of a gimmick chain. Sorry but soggy buns and low quality ingredients does not do justice (I'd probably pick the Costco frozen burgers over these). If you're curious, be curious to be disappointed. read more

Every time I am near one, I pull up to get a Castle Burger. Classic adding heavy ketchup. I also like their chicken rings. Gone are the days of the mixed soda and donut. Nope, just a couple classic Castle Burgers and a Chicken Ring with honey mustard. I am good for a visit maybe 3-4 times per year. It brings back up memories of my hometown roots. Getting them frozen from the grocery store has never been something I have done. read more

I walked in here a Whitecastle virgin and walked out a man. A bloated man full of greasy food, but a man nonetheless. For starters the staff here were very patient with me and my fellow out-of-towners while we decided what to order. They made small talk and asked about where we were from. I can't remember the combo number we ended up getting, but it consisted of 20 original sliders and 4 small fries. They had to wait for a new batch of fries to cook, so they threw in 4 chicken sliders for free so we could try them, too, while we waited. Score! I don't typically like onions on my burgers, even grilled into the meat, but these sliders were pretty good even with them. I put several away. So did my friends. But we still had extra. One friend insisted on saving them. According to him, they do not make a good midnight snack when they've been resting in the bag unrefridgerated for several hours... Who would've thought? The place was decked out like an old-fashioned diner/soda shoppe, which I dig. The bathrooms were clean and smelled nice. I think I was lucky to get this Whitecastle as my first. I think everyone has seen the movie Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. I used to eat White Castle after elementary school as a snack when my mother was lazy and just microwaved a few of them for me and my siblings to hold us over until dinner. I was in St. Louis and it was after midnight and literally NOTHING else was open. This meant that we were making a White Castle run and hoping for the best. It was a BAD decision. The actual place was closed so we had to go through the drive-through line. This is where all our problems started. I don't know WHAT was going on but it took over 15 minutes for us to even PLACE the order and this wasn't because there was a long line. It was ridiculous. We tried the Double Cheese Sliders (2 beef patties on a bed of onions, American Cheese, pickles), Chicken Breast Sliders (lightly breaded, crispy chicken breast made with all white meat, American cheese), Chicken Rings (all white-meat chicken breaded) and fries. Everything tasted like cafeteria food. I think only the chicken rings were somewhat passable and that's only after I drowned it in ketchup. As far as the sliders go, stick to beef and avoid the chicken. The Chicken sliders are so dry that they are basically inedible. The beef sliders are flavorless but a lot of ketchup can save almost anything. The fries were even terrible too. Limp and not even served hot. I don't understand why anyone would ever voluntarily eat at White Castle. I will honestly say that it is the WORST fast food joint I've ever been to with the WORST service I've ever received. I don't even think it's all that cheap neither. Never again even if they're the only place open! I'll save my calories! 1/5 read more

We had to circle a couple of times because the parking lot was COMPLETELY closed off (recently repaved?), and then it wasn't until we'd parked at a metered spot and walked up to the door that we saw a small sign stating that the interior was CLOSED and only the drive-thru was open. Okay, so we went around again and got into the drive-thru behind a bunch of drunk drivers who kept driving into the curb. :\ When it came time for me to order (for a group of 5 people), I only got to ordering a few items before the employee cut me off and stated the total. I was a little shocked because I gave ZERO indication that the order was done, so I responded "Oh... we're not done ordering yet." So I will admit that I was curious a out this place only because of a movie. I wasn't impressed by the portion size or the quality of the food in comparison to the price. I ordered a burger, two chicken sandwiches, regular fries, and loaded fries to make sure to get a good sampling of the menu. I was told that they didn't have chicken ready and it would be a 10 minuet wait. I feel like I was just told that to discourage me from ordering it because my food was ready in less than five minutes. This place needs a better way to identify whose order is whose. I grew up in Colorado so I had never had White Castle before but obviously had heard much about it. I was in St Louis for business and decided to walk over here to try it out. I wasn't expecting a lot, I knew this wasn't Whataburger or In-n-Out but I still expected something ok. I was greeted with aggressively bad customer service. I could barely order because the person was speaking so softly and after asking for the burger plain, I was asked many questions what plain meant but after a couple minutes I thought we had come to an agreement. I am a part of the Craver Nation! I don't know when my obsession with White Castle started, certainly not as a child. I was a picky little kid. Some would argue that I'm still pretty picky! However, once I realized that onions wouldn't hurt me and are, in fact, delicious, WC became a staple for my taste buds. I lived close to one in Florissant growing up and have lived all over since then, many times sadly without a WC. When we settled in Soulard, it didn't take me long to find the downtown Whitey's. Since the end of April, it has been one of my most frequented places. Much like the surrounding fast food restaurants, the Broadway White Castle can be fairly inconsistent. Out of the three places (Rally's, Taco Bell, White Castle), the service is probably the best. However, I have to be really, really patient when I get the craving. It doesn't matter if I go inside or wait in the drive thru. This Whitey's is slow as thick molasses. Once I get to my burgers or breakfast (I love the sliders with egg and cheese.
